Greetings Community! I watched an interview with Rosie O'donell who had the gastric sleeve and she spoke about how she would go to message boards and rely on an online community before and after her procedure--which got me thinking about online communities and this is how I found Bariatric Pal. I am currently 215 lbs, and 5 feet 5 inches tall. I am 36 years old and have tried everything to lose weight--and I mean everything. I simply cannot do it. In many areas of my life I am successful and capable--but when it comes to weight I am not. I am so grateful that we have medical options to address obesity today. My weight loss surgery is the gastric sleeve and I am having it performed on January 6, 2016 in NY on an outpatient basis and I am both terrified and excited (which I am guessing is pretty normal). I researched my surgeon very well, and feel confident that I am excellent hands. I am also self pay and was able to choose my surgeon from anywhere and I chose NY, even though I live in Florida.I really hope to connect with others in this community and learn more about about people's progress. I am an introverted person, so I look forward to reading your posts and learning about your journey. What else can I tell you? I am a professional, a mother, and I am physically uncomfortable all of the time and I just want to be around to live my life in a healthy and satisfying manner and this is why I am choosing to undergo the gastric sleeve.  Thanks!
