Actually this isn't quite true. You can check a box on the claim form that says the payment has already been made to the doctor and then a check gets mailed to you directly. I used to do medical billing, contact your insurance company and talk with a rep they will help you find the forms and the names of the documents you need to submit your claim. The hospital under HIPPA has to provide you with the records you need to process you claim. I go back next week, with my newest approval letter I got today APPROVING my 2nd day in hospital and the SLEEVE. Please explain my submit options you are bringing up. I know it will be a p.i.a. to get money back from hospital and especially the Dr. office.

That is exactly the point. Hospital claimed at bmi of 34.8 it didn't meet their requirement to file and told the Dr. it wouldonly be done with cash pay.

Wow, great job so far! I am still a newborn on this, [3 weeks] but I got some energy back when I was forced at two weeks to get off of the protein shakes due to diarrhea and losing weight too fast.I too had severe backpain needing to take usually 2 high strength hydrocodones daily. My back pain is minimal now, but like you minimizes my ability to truly exercise. I have lost 27 pounds in 3 weeks and I feel that loss such as yours, has to sap the energy out. My only suggestion would be to ask for blood work to make sure you hadn't lost too much of the good stuff. Keep up the hard work!

Thanks for your support and helpful comments. As others posted, this seemed bizarre and down right shady. I couldn't or wouldn't fabricate a story as aggravating as this is. Just trying to figure which direction to push hardest on, the providers telling them I insist they file, or Insurance asking them to push. Latest info is waiting on Dr. to return off of vacation and the hospital CFO wants to talk to him and let him know I have requested the hospital submit bill and to see what he says.

I would think you are okay. I had sleeve 15 days ago and after 4th day had diarhea for 9 days. On my 2 week followup, Dr. took me off of protein shakes entirely and had me go to pureed, soft food. Was checked for antibiotic reaction, which was ok Your body is in a major food change shock now, and like me, will have to see where this takes us. Good luck to you!
