  1. I talked to Nurse administrator at the hospital, she was nice enough to call me after 8p.m. tonight to tell me she had contacted the Dr. to file. I was honest with her and said the lady I talked to THIS time at Aetna said it will be denied. I think this is the first step in being able to appeal is to get the denial letter in my hand.

    Can you lift weights

It will depend if you will have a hiatal hernia repair, or not. With my sleeve I had umbilical and hiatal hernia repairs. Dr. told me to do leg weights immediately but no upper body work or lifting over 20 pounds for 90 days. Not sure of just sleeve only.Good luck!
  3. Talking with the hospital nurse/ filing person, no claim has been sent in yet, regarding the hospital stuff, but then again the last letter I got from Aetna, 12/30 said the sleeve and the 2nd day of hospital was approved for Dec. 16th. WTH how would they know I stayed a 2nd day if they didn:t file anything. Grrrrrrrrrr.I wish you 'smart' people were close so I could take ya'll with me! So the $3000 sleeve at the moment stands at $12,700. I might need bailsbond person on speed dial when I go there Tuesday. I am leaving my nice boy britches at the house.

    Aetna ***

I have Aetna but at the moment issues with hospital and Dr. I think Aetna is good, I'll let you know, see my post 1.2 pounds cost me $9000.
  5. As my Dr. told me, liquefied food doesn't stop in the stomach but passes right thru into the small intestine and that I would not get a full feeling unless I eat something that will layer in the stomach.

2 weeks and 4 days PO

I am at 3 weeks four days, so right with you. I constantly try to drink Water and once off of the Protein shakes have gotten more energy. I luckily enjoy the flavor of food, just don't care if I eat or not. I eat three small meals a day and sip water in between. My cheat is a little blue bell ice cream at night. I hope your taste for food comes back. My biggest issue was previous to surgery I constantly drank only one type of Protein shake cause I liked it a lot. Kellogg brand. After surgery could not STAND IT. Had a panic oh shoot moment trying to find something I could tolerate. Became lactose intolerant. Good luck, hopefully something time will fix.
  7. Due to my age and inability to exercise because of back and knee pain, and never being able to keep the weight off with natural means or weight loss pills, the sleeve was and is my best choice. I have seen excellant results with my two sons having sleeves. Good luck with you and your choices.
  8. I did the same as other commenters, I pureed for one day adding water to breakfast Jimmy Dean, with the texture of baby food, couldn't care for it. So eating soft food and chewing the heck out of it with no issues. Even eat some fish from Popeyes, peeling the batter off and chewing it up, yummy! lol. Eat queso dip, sucking it off of fritos. Eating enchiladas with refried beans.
  9. Thanks Alex, great website with great group of people and a ton of information! I have monthly documentation starting in July, from my primary care, my bariatric Dr. office and my 2 week pre op, AT THE HOSPITAL Always right at 262 lbs. at 6 ft. tall. with co morbidities documented. Day of surgery only time ever below my 262, cause I knew I needed to maintain the weight for approval, I thought. Day of surgery after being delayed until 5p,m. no Water now for 24 hours, 256.8 at a 34.8 bmi.
  10. Wow you all are doing good. I think part of that occurs with Water and Fluid retention. Not only the female thing but at times my weight before sleeve would change several pounds day to day and I would be doing nothing different. I had some water pills for my heart, can't spell diuretic, lol that would swing me silly. I have digital scales and a pee break is a pound and a half. My point don't change your plan or be discouraged! We all want the weight to fall off but I know I couldn't have done it without the sleeve. I am fortunate to watch my two sons that have had the sleeve and seen even with their half ass eating habits have each dropped well over a hundred pounds. Good luck and be proud you are trying to achieve a great purpose!
  11. Thanks so much! I go back next Tuesday, 1 1/2 hour one way, and thanks to all of you, no offense but I have some bigger b_lls now. lol.I am out a total of $9700 that I shouldn't of had to pay. And I will DEFINETLY keep my new friends here updated!
  12. Didn't see an expire date but last approval I received yesterday said Dec. 16th approved along with the 2nd day of hospital stay. It does say on the back many things such as if patient condition changes the approval may change.
  13. Strong information, Thanks, you write exactly as I feel, The Bariatric Manager was new in her position but no one called her out on HER decision. I will talk to Hospital CFO next week and if they are him-hawing around waiting to see what the Dr. thinks,[Hello, they had told him they weren't filing] I am telling them I will be filing a formal complaint with Aetna. I will have the names of the Manager, CFO and Dr. office manager in my notes to be prepared. Thanks to all the great people here for listening and sharing.
  14. Very good, thanks so much. I go back next Tuesday and with suggestions here, got a lot better idea that things should go my way or at least understand how to present it better.

    Discomfort When Eating

I have been blessed with no swallowing problems. Even with double hernia surgery I have been fortunate about not much issues. Only had one issue with throwing up after I tried to chew some pecans up and body showed me who was boss.I was on Prilosec for about ten days and have quit taking it with excellent results. Good luck to each of you fighting your battles. I feel so much better losing the 27 pounds and would do the surgery again for sure.
  16. Sadly, not trying to starve myself, I just don't care if I eat or not. Not being a smart_ss I just have no desire to eat, having to remind myself. Guess he took the right part of the stomach out with the hunger button.
  17. Used it for close to 4 years legal prescription. Devolped heart murmer, open heart surgery to repair mitral valve, January 2013. Leave it alone.
  18. He was following the Hospitals lead when they said they wouldn.t submit.
  19. Yeah, it gets worse. Had paid hospital $3000 two weeks before surgery to cover out of pocket including Dr. share. Dr. office threw pissy fit and had to pay them an additional $700, THEN on surgery day had to pay $5500 to hospital and $3500 to Dr. the CASH price and where the hell is the $3700 at? I'm just not very smart at this.
  20. South Texas, hospital in Victoria, Texas.
  21. The Bariatric Manager at Detar Hospital, Victoria, Texas. Told Dr. this too and his office required immediate payment also.
  22. But that is EXACTLY what the hospital did and the Dr. followed suit.
