During the post-op purée phase, what the heck did you eat? I've seen people mention baby food which the thought of makes me [emoji13] I would love a list of purée options that I can make and freeze ahead of time.

Sleeved 4/13, had period since 6/8
Laughkc11 replied to brittanyandrea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When our bodies are exposed to stress it will definitely effect menstruation. I moved from CA to IL last summer for work. A very stressful corporate job. I didn't have my period for six months. I expect that you will regulate again. -
What are you looking forward to?

Oh geez, where to start... Most of my horrible fat-related public embarrassment has occurred in the last year as I've acquired a significant amount of weight that took me from being overweight but still able to buckle my seatbelt on an airplane, still able to fit on a rollercoaster, still able to sit in a student desk at parent/teacher conferences, etc. This year, I had to request a belt extender for the first time. I couldn't ride a rollercoaster at six flags for the first time (my 13-yo son was incredibly embarrassed but also very sweet. He was pissed that they didn't make the seats big enough for everyone to ride he doesn't realize that I made excuses not to go back after that ). I also BARELY squeezed into a student desk at my son's parent/teacher conference. The teachers (all 6 of them!) watched me struggle and then asked if I wanted a chair I want to be rid of back pain, tension headaches, plantar fasciitis, and ankle stiffness I want to date (hell maybe even get married) I want my boobs to shrink so I can buy a bra from Target if I damn well please I want to wear the adorable outfits I have pinned on my Pinterest! (which includes skinny jeans & knee high boots) Do CrossFit again, and eventually compete Play softball again Lead a financial peace class Cut my hair to something short/sexy/sassy/badass Shamelessly flirt Take up Yoga Travel the world Honestly, I could go on for a while... -
This thread is seriously getting my heart racing [emoji15]

I hate posts like this, but 2 days until surgery and I am freaking out
Laughkc11 replied to anniebanana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Girl, my surgery is still like 3 1/2 weeks away (whoa that was just really real writing it down [emoji15]). I see all those posts too and I can't help but think to myself, "will that be me? Will I be right back where I started 2 years from now?" I'm having trouble even right now making the mental shift to behavior modification. I keep telling myself that I should be trying to lose weight until the liquid diet starts, but nooooo I just keep hitting Starbucks for breakfast. Hoping that 4 weeks of clear liquids (2 pre-op & 2 post-op) will give me some mental focus [emoji53] -

I started in May (mid-May) as well! It's happening much faster than I could have imagined! Currently schedule for July 27 assuming I get approved -
Mostly yes. She lost 130 lbs initially and has fluctuated with about 10-15 lbs, but has kept it off for the most part.

Hi John. My surgery is on 7/27. I have also decided not to tell anyone. I only told one friend because I needed someone to take me home from the hospital. I chose not to tell my family, but not because of backlash. I chose not to tell because I didn't want it to be a topic of conversation every time I spoke to them or saw them. I think most people assume you want to talk about the surgery, your experience, how hard it is, etc. My mom is a typical over-bearing Italian mother and she would want to be involved in every stage, and would also want to talk to other people about it. To save her the torture of not being involved and having to keep it a secret, I opted not to tell. I just want to get it done and start living my healthier happier life. I guess I'm just done talking about losing weight. Now I'm just going to do it. If you see your family really often, it might be hard, especially since you've already mentioned it. At this point I'd stand your ground with those judgmental family members and tell them you are doing it regardless of their uninformed opinions, and they can either love you and support your decision or say nothing at all.

Anyone else alone for the holiday weekend?
Laughkc11 replied to Oak Park Lorena's topic in Singles Forum
I'm with ya. I'm 33, but I've been a single parent since I was 21. A few relationships (nothing lasting longer than a year) and a bit of dating, but nothing that I could say was serious (mostly a waste of time). I also just moved from California to Illinois last July so I don't have many friends (work colleagues are the closest thing). My son is visiting his dad in AZ and my parents in CA. He left on June 19 and coming back July 31 (4 days after my surgery). I gotta say, though, I've been enjoying the personal time for the most part, but I do get lonely and bored. I used to prefer to be single, but have been missing companionship lately (even before my son left). I feel rather unattractive at the moment, but I'm hoping the surgery help me find some confidence to pursue dating again. Even my son wants me to date! Says he needs a guy to do stuff with [emoji23] -
My mom had gastric bypass surgery 10 years ago and then had her gall bladder removed last year

I also did Crossfit! I was pretty damn good at it, too! Not too many 260 lb women can bust out box jumps and double-unders LOL but I LOVE lifting the most. I had to stop due to ankle issues and major neck/upper back nerve pain (I know it's weight related). I cannot wait to get back into Crossfit after my surgery. My goal is to participate in a competition [emoji1320] What do your Crossfit peers say about you getting WLS? I think my CF coach would kill me if he knew I was doing this [emoji15]

Names of insurance companies that cover the sleeve, please?
Laughkc11 replied to sparker525's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have BCBS PPO through my employer and it is covered. Approval requirements were fairly easy as well. -

Jane when was your paperwork submitted? I have BCBSIL as well. Trying to gauge about how long I can expect to get approval -
Just had my consultation on Thursday, May 12. Psych and nutritionist visit on June 1. EDG on June 6. Still have to find a PCP who will do labs and recommend the surgery, but this is happening very FAST. The thought of the EDG freaks me out. Like I almost had a panic attack talking about it with the coordinator. Someone please tell me it's not as awful as it sounds. [emoji15]

Saw my PCP on Tuesday. EKG done, and blood work done. Just waiting on PCP to review results and send clearance to surgeon. I've always been relatively healthy (no comorbidity), so I'm hoping nothing has changed in the last couple of years since my last blood panel [emoji256][emoji256][emoji256][emoji256][emoji256][emoji256][emoji256]

Oddly my nutritionist specifically said that the Flinstones vitamins or anything similar would not be sufficient due to the lack of iron. I haven't yet, but I'll be purchasing the Celebrate brand for both Multi and Calcium + D. I've also seen the Bariatric Advantage vitamins recommended by many.
-
The only insurance requirements were Psych clearance and 1 visit with a Nutritionist. My surgeon required: EGD to check for ulcers, etc. that could lead to complications during/after surgery, and PCP clearance which included physical, health history review, EKG, and a blood panel.

I know these topics have probably been addressed a ba-jillion times on here, but I searched and searched and couldn't find a thread with the answers I'm looking for: 1. I am not telling anyone about my surgery except for one friend because I needed someone to take me home from the hospital afterwards. Obviously, I'll need to take some time off from work. For those who didn't tell their boss or work colleagues, what reason did you give for needing the time off? 2. My surgery is on a Wed, and I was planning to return to work the following Monday (I have a desk job at a corporate office), or start working from home if I'm still in pain or feeling nauseous. Am I being totally unrealistic about how much time I'll need to recover?

Secret Sleeve & Recovery Time?
Laughkc11 replied to Laughkc11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You guys rock. Thanks so much for the advice and reality check [emoji4] I'm going to let my boss know I'm having surgery and will need to take the first full 3 days off, and will likely try to be available for conference calls, etc. from home the following week, which give me opportunities to rest as well. So much going on at work, but doing everything I can now to minimize the impact of my absence in a few weeks. Thanks again! -
So I'm in a state of "nesting." I know I'm not having a baby [emoji23], but I want to be 100% focused on having a successful pre-op diet and post-op LIFE! My 13-yo son is on vacation visiting family for 5 weeks and I'll be having the surgery while he is gone (he does not know, nor does anyone in my family). Today I cleaned the garage, and organized some of the inside of the house. More cleaning to be done tomorrow! [emoji15][emoji15][emoji15]
