I just tried this recipe last night, i substituted cauliflower rice for the rice which shaved 20 carbs off the total. High Protein Burrito Bowl https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/high-protein-shrimp-burrito-bowl/

Just remember to check your recipes for protein, calories & fat. Gastric bypass recipes can be higher in calories and fat because they have nutrient absorption issues where the sleeve surgery doesn't have that issue.

Everyone's instructions are different, I would contact your surgical team and ask them. My post op first week was clear liquids with no Protein shakes so I know you can make it and live

Pretty surgery diet
Samara1974 replied to roostersrm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's high in sodium but for a change you could use the broth packets from top ramen. Add unflavored protein powder to boost it's nutrition value. -
First day on liquid diet!
Samara1974 replied to luzR's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try a couple pinches of salt, you may be getting the "low carb flu" hopefully your headache will pass in two days or so. Also drinks lots of water. -
Is it still cheating if...
Samara1974 replied to CaliGirl77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talk with your surgeon about this, my surgeon let me have protein 4oz of chicken or fish one meal if I absolutely had to eat something. Your surgical team may allow it but you will never know if you don't ask them. -
Any alternatives for the sweets?
Samara1974 replied to DMH82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein shake recipes if you make them like milkshakes by adding ice it changes them. I made an orange-sicle (Water, vanilla Protein powder, a couple tablespoons of diet orange soda (Flat) & frozen mandarin oranges), a PB&J (water, frozen strawberries, vanilla protein powder, Peanut Butter powder) and an Apple Pie (unsweetened apple juice, butter buds, cinnamon, vanilla protein powder.) Also they have Atkins Snacks that are low carb; I use these as my cheat foods when I get desperate for something "bad" for me. -
I brought pajama bottoms and wore those under my gown after surgery to make me more comfortable while walking.

I am so late, but my weight on 5/30 was 253, 4 lbs under goal *WOOT* Thank you vsgSarah3 for doing this, I really appreciate all of the work you did.

I flew three days after surgery, I ended up asking for a wheelchair due to the 45 minute connection. It was a good thing because I would have never made it.

A blender bottle works well too, stirring has never worked for me regardless of the protein powder.

What Has Been the Hardest Habit for You to Break?
Samara1974 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My hardest habit to break is eating & drinking. Three months out the urge is always there to take a drink when I am eating, I am really hoping as I get further out it will go away. -
255.7 this morning!!!! Beat my goal by a pound+ whoopee I am so excited

Had surgery on Tuesday and have 2 questions
Samara1974 replied to kat27641's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does every body really reach there Water limit this early out? Not that I am aware of; you are still swollen from surgery so your capacity is diminished. You are doing better than I was two days after surgery, just do the best you can and work your way up to your liquid goal. I didn't gurgle so I am no help there, sorry. -

Did you loose friends?
Samara1974 replied to Tina4heath4ever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is sort of true for me, although we didn't "party" my friends and I did go out and do things at least 1-2 times a month. My friends are thin & were very supportive of me getting surgery, so I really don't know what I have done, but now I am not included in any plans. Even though I know now that they are truly not friends it hurts to be left in the dust. Thankfully I have my husband. -
I am in Fairbanks so not very local, I was sleeved in February.

258 this morning, first time ever that I am going to make my goal

Will a Week Off be Enough for a HR desk Job
Samara1974 replied to Lindsey Skinner Abbott's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to work after one week and I have a desk job. I did ok but I was not 100% mentally there, a couple weeks after that I found a few errors I had made and had to correct. I found out that I do a lot of twisting at my job (to reach my printer & supplies) all and all I was ok. -
260.7 this wonderful morning, I hope everyone has a great day

Family on board for Mexico?
Samara1974 replied to Jdubwife's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
My husband was reluctant at first but once I decided on my surgeon and where I wanted it done and presented my case I won him over. This gentleman filmed his journey at a Hospital Angeles where I got my surgery done, the only difference was my room was much bigger. http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/451-tell-your-gastric-sleeve-surgery-story/ -
Question for those who got sleeved in Mexico
Samara1974 replied to 24601's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had a nutritionist consult pre and post-op and they gave me contact information to call or email if I needed anything. -
But how much protein and carbs are you eating? Are you meeting you protein goals set by your Dr? The protein is just as important for us this early as is keeping our calories down.

Questions on the dreaded "3 week stall"
Samara1974 replied to Talaria's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For most of the ladies I talked with we looked at our food journals and made sure we were getting enough protien and water and then tried to cut back on carbs. One of the ladies I talk with walks a minimum of 3 times a week 30 minutes she has not hit a stall yet. I started walking and my stall broke, I am not the most consistent exerciser but anytime I go near the stall area I up my exercise and I don't have a problem and by exercise I mean walking. -
What does it feel like when you eat too much or too fast?
Samara1974 replied to silverthreads's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Too far for me I can get one or all of the following really burpy, upper chest pain and feels like a band is tightening around my throat Way too far (If I was stupid) I do all of the above, it hurts to swallow and my nose starts running and then vomiting soon follows. These can happen if I eat too much or small amounts too fast.
