  1. Soooo-two weeks post op wondering how everyone made themselves get into the habit of recording every portion size, drink etc. when you are busy busy working each day?

Since I eat so little every day, I usually plan what I'm going to eat ahead of time and put it into MyFitnessPal. Then at the end of the day if I added a snack or didn't eat something, etc, I change it as needed. Doesn't take long at all and I have a detailed record of what and how much I'm eating.

I've actually started preop. I use Sparkpeople, and I can track on my phone, my iPad, my work or home computers. I take my breakfast and lunch to work, and I prepare lunches for the week over the weekend, so those are pre-measured. I take a yogurt for breakfast and that's premeasured as well.

I typically track it in my head during my work day, but when I get home, I will spend some time recording because if I let it go a couple days, I will forget. My surgeon has us use MyFitness Pal, and it's a great program. I've use a lot of different trackers and I like this one the most of all the ones I've used.

My RD told me that over 120 is too much. I read that exceeding 140 is crazy. Certainly 120 is far more than anyone needs.

Not a concern unless you have a kidney problem. I aim for 100g minimum.

I do 100g per day at the moment...

      120-140 when I'm 'training'..

But as @CowgirlJane stated before, it's really a question for your nutritionist...

Everyone's body responds differently to this surgery. If your body is tired, make sure you are resting. But also you might want to make sure you are getting enough fluids. Being dehydrated makes you very tired, believe it or not! And it's very easy to get dehydrated when you are losing so much weight. Especially the first few weeks after the surgery. Good luck to you and hope you feel better!

    Juarez or Tijuana?

I am seven days post op with Dr. Ponce in Tijuana-the people were very kind and the care was wonderful-I couldn't have asked for better that way-they seemed liked they genuinely cared right down to the doctors inturn who made sure were very comfortable and had no questions or concerns once we were leaving the hospital. The whole group of people who made our trip possible and comfortable were amazing.

Yikes, you certainly can't be in Tijuana, as the system shows. My guess is Saskatchewan or Manitoba or perhaps Whitehorse, Yellowknife or Iqaluit? Fairbanks? Nuuk? Will you tell?

  14. You look wonderful in both photos but healthier in the second. Thanks for sharing-I know it took a lot for me to share my photos right away but I am hoping it will be another way I can inspire myself when I see changes-Im counting down. Only five days until my surgery. Thanks for being an inspiration. God bless you and yours. As of this week I finally hit a normal BMI and i promised myself when that time came I would finally share some pictures. By the way, I still do not like having my picture taken but before I hid behind everyone and because I was tall it was easy to hide the rest of me. Now I definitely am willing to get in the shot and I no longer cringe when I see the pictures. The only pics I could find before surgery were taken on a cruise with my hubby, Son and Granddaughter. These were taken 1 month before my bypass. EPSON001_000001.jpg EPSON002_000001.jpg My after was taken earlier today, down 137lbs and finally at a BMI of 24.9 DSC_0134.jpg
  15. I was week last night and had tacos with cheese, sour cream, and tortilla when Im not supposed to have any dairy or processed foods! I feel terrible guilty and its only five days until surgery. Good news?-Im down 21 lbs

Did the tacos taste good? If so, not the absolute worst thing. What a shame it would be if they'd been merely mediocre. Work on banishing "guilt" from your vocabulary. It's a futile, self-indulgent emotion -- ME! ME! ME! - and it goes nowhere fast. You've been doing something right to have lost 21 lbs. You'll be fine. You are fine.

    3. dbp3k

      dbp3k

Yes lol the tacos were delish! Thanks for the advice! and thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one to have weak moments. :) Feels good to not be alone. :)

Don't feel bad! It's not easy letting go of what you're used to. You've lost weight and that's what matters. One night, about 3 days before surgery, I have in and had a grilled chicken wing and it seemed like the best that I had ever tasted. My surgeon was proud of my 20 lb loss before surgery and things are going well.

  16. Only nine days left until surgery!

  17. A bit nervous about traveling to Mexico after some of the things Ive read lately!:(

    1. Miss Mac

      Miss Mac

After being on this forum for over two years, I think I have observed more often that our bariatric brothers and sisters have more complications with their local doctors, especially ones that don't do volumes of bariatric surgeries. If you do get your surgery in the states, don't take anything less than a hospital that is recognized as a Center of Excellence. They have more to lose if a doctor screws up.

    2. Djmohr

      Djmohr

Miss Mac is right on this front. I swear the level of support and after care with facilities that are not Bariatric centers of excellence here just seems to be lacking.

  18. I am having surgery in Mexico with Dr. Ponce on January 22nd. Anyone else out there heading to Mexico?
