When do I stop regretting my Gastric Bypass?
Kathy Coop replied to Veiados's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
6 months for me. 6 months of vomiting. Crying when I smelled good. Binge watching law and order criminal intent. Licking everything just to get a taste of it. Yup. 6 months till I felt "human" again. If it were not for Taco Bell pintos and cheese I may have perished lol and one pinto and cheese took me 3 days to eat!! -
For the first year after surgery and my surgeon would tell me that my deficiencies Would fix themselves within 18 months of having the surgery . I Started seeing a blood specialist and he laughed. He said my numbers needed serious intervention. I get weekly Iron and they keep printing out my labs but NO ONE EXPLAINS THEM TO ME! Like they can't be bothered. Drives me mad! Any medical field people in the house? Here is my latest .

Why do people look at me like I am nuts when I say I had the roux en y? Is "general bypass" the correct term or am I on the wrong board?

When was your weight loss?
Kathy Coop replied to tdawntaylor's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Depends on your start weight. I went from 368 to 240 in 5 months. Then I got pregnant and stalled for 9 months. After baby was born in September I was 155 by Christmas. -
Veterans....#1 thing you miss / don't miss
Kathy Coop replied to Kindle's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Male attention is really tough to deal with and I am shocked at how straight forward men can be. I literally have a kid on each hip and a wedding ring and still get hit on. My husband is a very large man. 6'4 350 pounds. We use to " match" now he feels like people look at us and wonder what is she doing with that guy?? I love my husband fat or thin but my thinner frame has made him a lot more self conscience about his bigger frame. Plus it does t help that I am basically a midget lol -
I suck on lollipops when I want something sweet. I figure 20 minutes to suck a lollipop. That's 20 minutes of me not snacking or,eating cake, candy etc. plus it kills that's craving.

Veterans....#1 thing you miss / don't miss

I miss my ass! I went to Disneyland at thanksgiving and my boney butt was getting slammed all over the rides. That padding is all, gone and even sitting on chairs and benches ends up a pain in my ass so to speak. I don't miss soda. The first 6 months I wanted it so so so bad. About 6 weeks ago I took a sip of my husbands Dr. Pepper and I almost spit it out. It was so gross. Like pure syrup. Bleh!! -
Understanding my blood work (help)
Kathy Coop replied to Kathy Coop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The only thing they have told me is I have a very low absorption rate. Something like 7% the issue is my blood Doctor deals mostly with cancer and he blames all my issues on the WLS. Meanwhile my WLS Doctor keeps insisting after an amount of time my body will fix itself somehow. He said around 18 months to 2 years but it has been 3 I do t think the 2 communicate at all with each other. They just send labs back and forth. -

I had to become a vegetarian after surgery. Not because I love animals and I think killing them is wrong. My pouch simply will not tolerate it. Feels like a brick going down my neck then THUD it sits there. My stomach feels like it is between my boobs. I literally have had to take my bra off at dinner because any pressure pushing on it made it a million times worse. I do assure you my hair grew back. Not sure the gold standard in guys but I would rather be bald than getting pulled out of my house via crane lol

Why we fail to continue succeeding:
Kathy Coop replied to winklie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The forum I have been a part of since before my surgery has died out and that is why I came here. I find it hard to believe you were in the armed services with your cry baby attitude. You must have been a reservist or a cook or something. There is no way you served in battle. No man attacks a military wife because she did not serve. I couldn't due to a serious back injury at 17. My daughter however in 3 months away from 18 and is enlisting. As for the "look at how much weight I have lost" take the time to READ. It has been a hell of a road. It was not easy and I am not healthy because of it. Even following all the rules I need weekly Iron transfusions. I almost died during a routine gallbladder surgery. If you want to,see my labs I will be happy to share. I posted my before and after photos showing all of the loose skin that comes with this surgery. A real look at weight loss not tight jeans and turtlenecks hiding all the trouble spots. My post was an honest opinion of everything I have seen on boards like this and in real life over the past 3 years. Not a personal attack on you as a person but it seems you want to go to war. It's hard to control your emotions when you no longer have a chicken wing for a crutch. There is an ignore button. Use it. I will see you in 2 years. I hope you succeed but if you hit the walls we all hit I hope you are man enough to admit it. -
360+ pounds?!? help!
Kathy Coop replied to allyrenee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I wonder if it is a per person thing? I threw up 6 months straight no mater wHat I ate. Dumping for me is the rapid heartbeat, sweaty, anxiety attack of doom. But the foamies this weird liqued/foam vomit was happening at every meal not matter what. They thought I may have a sticture but it was just my "journey" apparently. I never had the mud butt so to speak lol -
