4th of July Challenge: Red, White and Blue: Whole New You!
RNY-Gal replied to goplay94123's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Starting - 321.3 Goal - 315 -
I need to lose 8 more pounds to reach my 10% weightloss goal my surgeon requires. My last weigh in is August 9th. I still have a few months to lose but it's like the scale isn't moving at all. If anything is bouncing back and forth a pound or two. So nerve racking and it's also discouraging.

Still preop and I hit a stall
RNY-Gal replied to RNY-Gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks!! The only exercise I do is at work. (I have a physical job) but some days at work it's slower. I do own a treadmill I just need to use it more. I did a few weight training in the beginning months of my 6 months, but slowly started to cut it out. What ever reason I don't know. My foods I need to work on. I cut out all carbs (processed) I didn't have bread Pasta or rice at all the first 3 months, but now I noticed I'm eating a little bit more of it each day. I'm reaching my protein and water goals. I think I'm going to cut out dairy, carbs, and all sugars. This post really is my way to keep myself accountable. And to get myself back on track and start losing again.. -

I don't know if you hit your answer orbit but it's a BMI of 55 and over to have no 6 month or Health issues. -
It's different for each insurance company. Some take weeks, others hours, even days.

So many QUESTIONS HELP!
RNY-Gal replied to Jane????'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Haha, you sound like me. I watched so much stuff leading up to finally talking to my PCP about having surgery. I too though I could perform the surgery for how many videos I watch. Not just people and their journey but actual surgery videos. I talked to my PCP on December 16th 2015. She was very supportive. She gave me a referral to the surgeon. Took a month to get an appointment for the seminar. Then another few weeks to have a 1 on 1 with him. I had some insurance issues that delayed me starting my 6 month diet. So now I'm a month behind of what I should be if i started in Feb. I'm looking at an August/September surgery. Once you get the ball rolling it does go super fast. -
Pre-Op Psychiatric visit
RNY-Gal replied to PharmacistJen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had mine is past Tuesday. I was in and out in a half hour (or less) she passed me. She just asked me about my weight, dieting, how am I changing my life now, have I ever been depressed because of my weight, and what I'm expecting to get from surgery and why I'm wanting to get it. Best bet is be 100% honest. I think if you are on meds and have whatever disorder you have under control you should be fine.. -
I was recently diagnosed with sleep Apnea. I'm headed into my third month of my 6 diet. My question is does sleep apnea ever get "cured" after losing a lot of weight after surgery?
-
I'm still pre-op. And recently have been pretty curious to what my body might look like. I know a lot of factors play apart in what your skin and body will look like after a large amount of weight is lost. I am an apple shaped. Which means I carry most if not all of my weight in my abdomen. So I have fairly thin legs and arms. So I'm looking for other Apples. I will be around 310 when I have surgery. I started at my highest weight ever of 347. I am 5'7 3/4. ( yes that 3/4 matters! Lol) and I'm 31. So if you had similar stats and Apple ID love to see them before and after pics!

Sleep Apnea after WLS.
RNY-Gal replied to RNY-Gal's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks y'all! Sleep Apnea scares the crap out of me. Especially now I know I have it. I kinda figured I did have it because I too would wake up with pounding headaches and on an occasion I would wake up with a choking feel that turned into a cough. -
Hello everyone! My name is Stacy. I have posted a few times in the past but I wanted to take the time to tell everyone how things been going so far. I am still pre op. I want to my information seminar January 26th 2016. I have my first appointment with my Surgeon Dr. Christopher Myers. Feb. 22,2015. I had a hiccup with my insurance where my coordinator thought I didn't qualify. Needless to say I did. I had my first nutritionist appointment March 3, 2016. Which started month one of six. March 15th I had my appointment with pulmonary to setup my sleep study which is April, 26th 2015. On April 7th, 2016 I had my blood work done, upper GI X-ray, blood gas test, and pulmonary function test. Everything came back normal. Today, April 22, 2016. I had my Upper Endoscopy. Which also came but normal. I just have my psych eval which is an hour appointment on May 10th 2016. All my prerequisite will be done. I will just need to finish my diet classes and support group. I been to 1 of 3 support groups and 2 of 6 diet classes. (On April 19th 2016) In July I have my appointment with my PCP. To get clearance for surgery. By August 12 I will have finished everything including my 6 month diet. Now the numbers. I'm still very shy about disclosing my weight but I think it's time I tell. Started and highest weight 347 (March 3) Surgeon wanted me to lose 10% (also insurance requirement) of body fat. By my second weigh in (April 19) I was done to 328. I need to be 311 by the time August 12. I had a stall for 2 weeks. scale is slowly moving again. I can't wait to have the surgery and begin my new and healthy life. I will update this post as the months go on.

My journey so far. Still PreOp--
RNY-Gal replied to RNY-Gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on a 1200-1500 calorie diet. Everything I eat is Protein centered. I get all my protein from food. I don't do shakes. (Not yet anyways) I walk 3 miles a day. Plus, I'm thankful to have a pretty active job where I'm constantly moving and lifting upwards to 50 pounds. Of course there are days at work where I'm just standing in one spot for 8 hours. ( I work in a cookie factory) I was very worried about the weight loss during the 6 month diet. I didn't think I was going to loss anything. Now I'm just trying to mix things up and loose what I need to by next weigh in and just maintain it for the remaining months. But I'm not doing well this month. scale isn't moving at all. But I notice I'm losing inches everywhere. -
I wanted to chime in. I will also most likely have a September date as well! Even though I'll finish in August I'll have stuff to do before I get a date like insurance approval. I go to my Psych eval May 10th.

Yay!! Congrats

First appointment with my NUT
RNY-Gal replied to staceykb72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was an hour. She even kept looking at the clock saying too much to get covered in an hour so she started to go through things so fast I forgot a lot of the information. Thank gosh she gave me a folder with everything I needed. -
How long to return back to work post RNY
RNY-Gal replied to getch888's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I plan on taking 4-6 weeks off. I work in a factory lifting up to 50lbs daily and very fast paced. A lot of bending down. I also plan on taking off the of work for the pre-op liquid diet since I have to drink a shake every 2-3 hours. At work I can't do that. -

I just finished my first month of 6. The 12th is my next weigh in. We will be pretty close to being surgery buddies. It's nice to see others be close in journeys as me. You get any of your testing done yet? I get most all mine done in April. (labs, sleep study, endoscope) GI X-ray and phy. Eval) pretty much days apart from each other. Time does seem like it's moving fast, but slow at the same time. -
March is my first month of my 6 as well! I'm still having a hard time figuring this out myself. For a quick fix I do Protein shake (even though I hate them) I was looking into under 400 calorie hot oatmeal recipes that are high in protein that look good but haven't gotten to try them yet.

Menstrual weight gain - Woman issues
RNY-Gal posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm worried about this! my weigh in is Thursday and I'm starting my period soon and I'm already feeling bloated and I checked my weight on my scale and I'm up 7lbs from last week! That can't be right I'm working out everyday and eating right. I'm scared I'm going to gain weight and be kicked out of the program. I'm not aloud to gain any weight. -
I started my journey on Dec 16th with my initial call to setup my appointment with my surgeon. Im really excited and need to share this with people as I'm not telling people I know I'm getting surgery. (Too judgmental) Timeline so far Dec16, 2015 -- call to setup information seminar. January 27, 2016 --seminar February 15, 2016 -- first appointment with Dietitian. February 16, 2016 -- first support group meeting. Febraury 22, 2016 -- First meeting with surgeon..
