Thanks all! I'm really not super concerned about it. Like I said, I just want to take full advantage of the painfully long waiting period by doing everything possible to prepare. I'd rather have the surgery tomorrow and deal with loose skin than to wait another second but sadly, that isn't an option. I appreciate all of the tips. I've been using oil as well as some cellulite cream (what do I have to lose, right?!) and will stay on the water. ????

Don't even sweat it, girl. Haters gonna hate. Haha. They will have nothing to say when you start dropping weight and looking good. I mean, what can they possibly say? "Ugh. You look so good and healthy! How drastic!" ????

In my experience, people seem to be jealous. Everyone I have told who is at a healthy weight is super supportive and everyone who is overweight is super opinionated about it. I think that people just don't want you to succeed while they are still overweight and unhappy. I know that isn't the case with everyone but it seems to be a pattern in my life. I wouldn't think too much about it or bother getting into arguments with these people as you will never "win". I wouldn't give them the satisfaction of engaging in an argument and simply just smile and say "I appreciate your opinion" or "thanks for letting me know how you feel". That is much more powerful than showing that it bothers you. Also, don't let it bother you! You know you are going the right thing and when you show them that you can be successful, it's going to feel so good! Happiness is the best revenge, as they say.

Can I specifically request Gastric Sleeve?
kelliev2015 replied to shrinkingkimber's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I originally went in asking for the LapBand and my doctor said he didn't recommend it and gave me a ton of reasons why. I left there in tears cause for me, it was the only option I was considering. After having time to process what he said, doing research, reading posts on here, I am so glad he suggested the sleeve cause now I wouldn't even consider LapBand. I'm still in my 6 month waiting period so haven't had it done but thought I would share cause as others said, you can do whatever you want but I would definitely listen to your surgeons suggestions. -
Hi, has anyone has their sleeve done at NWWLS in Everett? I originally scheduled with them cause I was planning to self pay and they were cheaper than other places. Since my consultation on 12/21, we've been looking to see if insurance will cover it. Anyway, I haven't been having the best experience with them so far and was just wondering if anyone else had a good/bad experience? If insurance ends up covering it, I'm considering going somewhere else.

NWWLS in Seattle, anyone?
kelliev2015 replied to kelliev2015's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Oh, never mind. I just saw where you said he was the only doctor you've dealt with. I definitely didn't get a bad vibe from him. I just feel that the office is lacking a little in the "customer service" department. Well, appreciate the reply. We'll see where I send up once all of the hoop jumping is complete. -
NWWLS in Seattle, anyone?
kelliev2015 replied to kelliev2015's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Thanks for the reply. Did you do a sleeve or anything once you had the band removed or just had it removed? If the former, did you go somewhere else for that? -
Hi everyone, I just had my sleep study last night since my insurance will only cover me if I have sleep apnea because my BMI isn't high enough. Anyway, it was hell and I am 99% sure that I didn't sleep a wink. Now I am freaking out that they won't diagnose me with sleep apnea cause they won't think I have it since I didn't sleep for them to see it! My boyfriend has to sleep on the couch most nights cause my snoring is so bad, so I know I have some kind of issue. I don't get my results back until 1/13 but was just wondering if anyone went through something similar? Also attaching a photo for your amusement. I mean, how do they expect anyone to sleep like this? Ugh. Appreciate any replies, advice, etc.

Ok so they should be able to tell if you slept enough for them to diagnose?

Which office are you having issues with? Just curious cause I am in the Seattle area and having similar issues with NWWLS.

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and was hoping to get some advice from real people who have gone through this. I'll try and make this as short and to the point as possible. Basically, I've been struggling with my weight for my entire life, as I am sure is the case with many of you. I have tried every diet known to man, always lost weight and always gained it back plus more. I am currently at my heaviest with a BMI of 36. I recently started looking into weight loss surgery and had decided on the LapBand....or so I thought. I had a consultation with the surgeon on Monday who basically told me that he didn't recommend the band for me and strongly suggested that I go with the sleeve. He said he would put the band in, if I really wanted it but it would be against his guidance. Needless to say, it was not what I expected to hear nor what I wanted to hear. So, that brings us to now. The sleeve and the bypass was never anything that I considered. It's not that I don't want something "permanent" cause I am scared that I will change my mind but I am scared of doing something irreversible, in case there are problems. I mean, what if I never eat again and have to be fed through a tube for the rest of my life? As an example. I'm feeling super discouraged cause this was my only hope. I don't have a plan B. Can someone please tell me how this has worked for you, if you are happy with your decision, why you chose the sleeve, whether I am being completely ridiculous, etc.? It would be great to hear from real people who are going through similar things and not just a doctor who doesn't understand. So much for keeping this short. ???? Thanks in advance to all!

Thanks for the replies. I did check out the band to sleeve revision forum (thanks for the tip) and didn't realize how many complications the band had. I guess I have a lot to think about. My BMI is high enough to qualify if I also have sleep apnea and I am having the sleep study done on 1/5. After that, I will know more. I also have the 6 month waiting period for insurance so plenty of time to research. Thanks for all of the replies. I would love to hear more, if anyone has the time to share their stories. ????
