Freedom Fighters Weekly Weigh In
headin_to_mxico replied to Juniper's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ugh, I didnt lose anything since last Monday. But I started mushies on Thursday and weighed myself then. I had lost another pound and a half. I gained that back since starting mushies. Im exactly where I was last Monday now. Im not going to be too hard on myself though. I honestly expected it because we put our bodies into starvation mode on this liquid diet. I think my body will stop freakin in the next few weeks. This was honestly to be expected. Its really not good to go down to like a five hundred calories a day which is about what I was doing on the liquid sugar free diet I was on for two weeks. Because as soon as you start feeding yourself again, your body treats 1200 calories like its 3000 because its hanging onto every single calorie afraid that your still starving. I think once my body is back on track in the next few weeks, I will have a good weight loss again. Gonna stay positive!! :crying: Surg Date 7/16/2009 7/20/2009 -1.5 lbs total loss 1.5 lbs 7/23/2009 -1.5 lbs total loss 3.0 lbs 7/27/2009 +1.5 lbs total loss 1.5 lbs -
You will feel better before you know it. I am close to two weeks out now and I felt like a new woman after one week post op. Hang in there and know you will feel sooo much better in a few days.

I did egg salad with low fat mayo. Ive also done a lot of refied beans. I made cream of potato soup and put a little shredded cheese on top. I also made scalloped potatos. I went to taco bell with my family and had pintos and cheese, but my daughter had nacho supreme and I ended up eating a little bit of her toppings (not the chips). Yum fake cheese sauce lol. Its so bad but its so good. I wont do that one again though. Too many calories. I havent tried meat yet. My diet says I can have canned chicken or tuna, and ground beef. But I dont eat tuna; and canned chicken just sounds gross to me. Tonight Im going to make meatloaf and gravy and mashed potatos. Hopefully the ground beef goes ok. Im thinking the gravy will help wash it down. My Dr says to drink water with my meals untill I am on week six. After week six I am not ever suposed to drink with meals again. Thats going to be a hard one!

I wanted to add my surgery story to this thread: Day of Surgery: I overslept and so I was rushing to get my bags packed and and check out of my hotel room. I was able to get the cab secured and checked out and I thought Id have enough time to get to the hospital. Well then the cab made a stop to get gas, and a stop to pick up another couple who were going somewhere next to the hospital so I wound up late. They made me fill out a few forms and took me to my room. I dropped off my bags and they took me to surgery floor. I got naked as a Jay-Bird and put on my cute gown (ha ha) with the open part at my backside. I was in a section of rooms made by hanging sheets. I had my own little room section. They started an IV and gave me a pill to 'relax'. I asked for my book and they went and got it out of my room for me, but by the time they brought it to me I had fallen asleep. My doc wakes me up two hours later and it was time for surgery. Because I had been late they did someone else before me. I called hubby to let him know I hadn't had mine yet and was just getting ready to go in. Doc told hubby he'd call him when it was over. They wheel me into a room and a anesthesia doc asks me what I want to dream about. I laugh and say Hawaii. He says, "How bout Hawaii in a bikini?" and so I say, "sure......" Then there is nothing. I wake up to my doc and anesthesia doc both calling my name loudly and firmly over and over. I am being lifted onto another table. I try to schootch myself and help them a bit, but I'm really out of it. They wheel me to a recovery room that has a glass wall looking to the nurses station. The nurses rarely come in because they can see me and the monitors from their station, plus they don't speak English so its not like they come in to talk to me. They only come in to give me water and make sure its going down. I drift in and out, but I'm trying to stay awake because I want to go back to my room. I am surprised at the pain. I didn't think I would be in pain, but I am slowly noticing the pain a little more and a little more at a time as the drugs wear off. It was bearable, but more than I had expected. After I can make myself stay awake for a half hour strait they wheel me back to my room. Its been over two hours but feels so much shorter. My Dr assistant Dr Guzman comes in and talks to me. I don't remember much. I ask him to tell the nurses to bring me ice chips since I don't know how to ask them in Spanish. I cant remember what we talk about. I think he watches me drink water to make sure it goes down. Then I get dinner a few hours later consisting of chicken broth and watered down juice. It goes down fine. Then bring me a crushed up sleeping pill in water. Its gross, but it helps me fall asleep and not wake up until morning.

I just moved to mushies yesterday and everytime I eat I get a side ache on my left side for like an hour or so. Anyone else have this? Total random side effect.

Not all of it was on the plane. I had a four hour lay over in Mexico City. So there was a big break in the middle. Only spent 8 hours on the plane. Two hours for the first flight and six hours on the second.

Bansters who have been banded a while, do you still burp?
headin_to_mxico posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Im newly banded and everytime I eat or drink I have to belch a HUGE belch. Its so embarrassing, but theres no way I could hold it in. I cant imagine ever going out to dinner again if it continues, or else Im going to have to get really good at quietly burping. These are like HUGE SALOR burps that would make my brother proud. Please tell me this is a temp thing?! -

headin_to_mxico replied to headin_to_mxico's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Youre so lucky! I cant controll mine! They are huge belches that would make any man envious. Whenever I eat I get so much gas trapped and I just feel so full and then out of nowhere they just come out. I could be mid sentence or word and BUURRP! It actually scared the crap out of me the first few times it happend, but now I just expect to know it will happen within twenty min of eating. I think as I get used to these new feelings I will be able to controll it better. Or figure out how to trap less gas when I eat. I feel like an infent who needs a good burping after every meal. At least I dont spit up.......yet. I guess I shouldnt talk too soon before my first fill. :cool2: -
I also was worse the second day than the first. But the third day and there on got a little better everyday. By the fifth day I was a new woman.

Banded 5 days ago, STARVING Help
headin_to_mxico replied to Wyndy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally second Cathrine, if you are on full liquids you shouldnt starve yourself. Blend hartey soups! It helps so much! I like to blend cream of potato with extra skim milk to make it thin enough to qualify as a liquid. I also do beans with beef broth blended. Cottage cheese blended with skim milk is yummy and so is skim milk blended with a handfull of cherrios and half a banana. Get creative! If you do this you should kill those hunger pains. Now the head hunger I cant help you with! -
Hang in there! I also had to cancell my surgery TWICE! Plus I had to save my money for it myself which took two years. It will just be that much sweeter when you get it. I know how upsetting it is though. Just keep posting here and keep getting yourself ready. I had a lot of prep time and think it really helped me know exactly what to expect. Take care!

headin_to_mxico replied to angelic3432's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgery was at noon and I did ok without water. They will hook you up to some IVs with fluids an hour or so before surgery and that will make you hydrated again. You guys are all going to do great! Good luck everyone!! -

Todays your day guys! Good luck and Congrats!

I feel great. I have tons of energy now that Im on full liquids. I have a lot of gas. I have to burp like a sailor after every meal. Only pain left is port site. I cant eat more than one cup at a time. Even that seems like too much. I have been measuring my food cause my doc said I can have one cup twice a day. I fill up my cup and then I force it down even though its too much. I know its bad, but its the old habbits where I just cant leave food on my plate. I am going to only put a half cup out tomorrow that way I dont feel the need to force down more than I can eat. If Im still hungry I can always go back for seconds.
