Hi everyone. My husband just told me that I can go ahead and schedual surgery with Dr Kuri in Mx. I have been talking to hubby about it for a while and told him how Dr Kuri seemed wonderful; but he had reservations about Mex. Then we were watching the news last week and they did a special on Dr Kuri and hubby felt much much better about it. Yay! I emailed their office today and just waiting to hear back about a date. My BMI is just under 35 and I am 28 years old and a student and mother of two. Its so nice to finally post because I have been reading all of your guys posts for a long time and feel like I even know some of you from reading your post here haha while you have never really heard anything from me. Isnt that weird?! Anyways, Yay for me! Maybe Ill meet someone who will have surgery the same day as me. That would be so great because its scary even though Im excited.

Hi, I was reading threw threads and it sounds like some of yall have your ports in different places. Ex: I heard one person say that her port really bugged her bcause it was by her waist line, then another say that hers was down lower by her bikini line. Also, it kind of sounds like the ports may differ in shape. One girl said hers was like a sqare box, while the picture my doctor gave me, the port seems to look like a circle. I have also heard a person say their port was sutured to their rib cage even. Are there different port sizes, shapes and placing options?

I am in the process of shopping for personal health insurance. Which insurances are most low BMI band friendly? Any thoughts or suggestions? -
getting new insurance...Low BMI Suggestions?

My BMI is just under 36 and I have documented foot problems from the weight. Would that count as a co-morbidity? Or is a co-morbidity something that is life threatning? And is a PPO more band friendly or a HMO? -
Did anyone's BCBS cover them with a low BMI?

:confused:What is BCBS? -
I am hearing this a lot lately...Someone said that its because they are making the new bands larger and it isnt giving some people enough restriction. IDK I dont have a band yet but this is concerning to me. I heard they made the bands larger because of erosion problems. Anyone have any info on this? I am curios too.

Hi do any of you have this band? I think most doctors in the US are using Realize band and that the old band of choice was an Emnad (or something like this) band. Whats the differences? Im going to Mexico and I want to make sure that Im getting a good band and not a "discount" band.

Allergan band

I chose band because I cant stand the thought of cutting my stomich and having parts removed. I am also low BMI so I think that such an envasive surgery is not warrented for me. My BMI is only 32 (But goes between 32-34 depending on how good Im being), so my insurance will not pay. Mexico has experianced surgeons and good prices. I am prob going to use Dr Kuri who has a great reputation and thousnds of band surgeries under his belt. :wink2: I have not gotten my sugery yet and still researching. I have been considering the band for several years, but not been in a financial situation to do it. I finally have more financial stability so I am re-researching (lol) and seeing these new band brands. -
Allergan band

This is what I wanted to know. I am no longer confused. I had heard of Inamed several times when I researched the band several years ago. I now hear Realize a lot. It is comforting to know that Allergen is made by Inamed and not a generic brand of band. I have more research to do, but the quicky answers are perfect to get me going in the right direction so I can get more facts.
