  2. Happy 55th Birthday tuszak!

  3. Hi I had my surgery on 1-8-08 by Dr. Mckeen. He is awesome!! I am a slow looser also, but its okay with me, at least I'm loosing!! Hope your doing well! I have not had a fill as of yet, I have great restriction from the fill he gave me at surgery. Have a great weekend!
  4. Hi, :biggrin2:

I called his office and went in for a consultation, he talked about the band and answered my questions. He was very nice and so is his staff. When I left his office they gave me a paper that told me what my insurance would possibly pay and the testing they required. I have United Health Care PPO Plus and all I had to do was get a EKG, blood work, and give them 5 years of past weight recordings from my other doctors. That was it. I was approved in about 2 weeks. Dr Mckeen has no pre op diet, just nothing but liquids the day before surgery. On my day, while the hospital was getting me ready, he came in to say hi, and reassure me, I was very nervous!! Good Sam has a bariatic nurse who came in and gave my husband and I a nice size folder will all kinds of reading material. She was very nice and informative, again answered any questions I had. Everyone was very nice and I was out of there by 11 am, my surgery was at 9 am. He had pre-prescribed me nausia medicine which I was so glad I had when I got home, I got nausiated off and on. He told me to get liquid motrin and tylenol which I had ready too, and needed it. I was in quite alot of pain, and mostly slept. My worst day was day 2 and 3, I called him at home, they give out his home number which I found very assuring. And he called me back right away. After I healed up I noticed I had good restriction, and did not go in right away for my post op visit. I called the office and let them know I was doing well and would make a appt later. My first appointment was in March. I still had good restriction, he put some saline in at surgery and it was working fine for me. They weighed me and was happy with my loss, 17 lbs, with no pre op diet, my number was only weight loss after surgery. He tried to give me a little fill, and he was awesome, he got the port easily and I had no pain other then the little poke when he gave me my numbing shot. The fill was too much, so he took it out, told me no charge and he would see me in a month. That is this month and I have not been in as of yet. I don't know how he charges for fills for sure, I have not been billed for one yet, but my insurance covers $150 so I was told I have to pay $50, we will see! Oh, he also has an office in Utah, so he is gone alot. Just to let you know, I have a hard time getting in to his office because of MY job, but the girls in his office are great and work very well with me. They call and check on me and I really like that.:tt2:

He is very nice and knows what he is doing, you will be taken care of very well! Keep me posted on your progress, I would LOVE To hear how things go for you.

    Good Luck~

getting banded on 1/28 and scared

I had surgery on the 8th, I was terrified. I hate being put out, only one other time was I put out and I was not happy I had to do it again. Just talk to everyone, let them know how you feel. You will be fine, they take great care of you. I was pretty nausiated when I woke, and they gave me meds and it worked great. Other then that, I was good to go. I came home with an hour. Make sure you get a perscription for nausia meds so you can have them ready for you when you get home, it will come in handy!! Nausia comes and goes for the first few days. It will be over before you know it!
  6. I'm on mushies too, last night I ate a taco from taco bell. :/ I chewed it to smitherines, it was a mushie when it went down. But I felt bad afterwards, I have been a good girl today. I know I should not have eatten it, but I did.
  7. I was banned 1/8/08 I have not had my first check up after surgery yet, they said if Im doing fine, there is no need. I did not have a pre op diet, so the only change of food took place after I had the surgery. At this time I am not getting too hungry. At my normal eating time, Breakfast, lunch, dinner, but other then that I'm ok. Im on muchies/soft foods and so far I have lost 8 lbs, not much, but this is suppose to go slowly so I guess Im doin okay. Got to call to see when I get to eat solids ...... good luck!!

    I Wanna Pig Outtttttttt!!!

My last day I ate my normal breakfast, I don't think I had any lunch but for dinner hubby and I had a nice juicy steak, baked potato, and steamed broccoli. It was great, I did not stuff myself and I know I can have it all again when I am on solid foods. It was delicious! I did not want to stuff myself with junk, I am not a big junk food eater. I do love certain things tho, as we all do.

    Banded Jan. 08

Hi all, I'm new here. I have been drinking lots of different things, it keeps me pretty satisfied. Soups, clear and full, watered down refried beans, yummmy v8, sf jello, sf fudgcicles, buttermilk, protein shakes, w/peanut butter for more protien, won ton soup broth, all the cream soups. I cant wait to the mushie week, but truthfully its not so bad. I have not lost much weight as of now, my dr says this is the time to heal not to loose weight, so Im not worried. I was banded on the 8th.
