It's frustrating when...
Stillmissing replied to tiffanymarie6997's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with numbers 2 and 3 and would add one more. When after a month and a half people still ask me how I am feeling. I felt great from day 2 but it just doesn't seem to sink in. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -
I was told by my NUT that it is like sipping out of a straw. Air gets into your stomach and may cause problems. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Insurance approval! Surgery June 13th
Stillmissing replied to Wendy1960's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Super Congrats to both of you! It's scary and exciting all at the same time. You have come a long way and there is a longer road ahead, but it's a healthier road and a rewarding one. Even though I am just under a month post-op, I know I made the right decision and only wish I had done it sooner. And it's great that you will have each other to lean on and motivate one another. Congratulations! -
Chewing Again...
Stillmissing replied to areader4life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had head hunger for the first two weeks after surgery. It drove me nuts, but the second I took a sip of shake it was gone so I knew it wasn't real. sugar-free Popsicles are my go to when I'm looking for something sweet. And when I need something a little different I go to the LS chicken broth or an ounce of cheese. I am 26 days post-op and it's going to be another 16 days until the next stage. I keep busy and walk whenever i can. Find stuff to keep you busy (I bought a puzzle-sad). But I find that if I don't have something to occupy my time/mind, I think about food and how good something would taste. -
Having trouble with Vitamins
Stillmissing replied to Stillmissing's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband, who is UBER SUPPORTIVE suggested that I cut the Vitamin into smaller pieces and take one piece every 1/2 hour or so, which worked beautifully. I think my problem wasn't getting a whole one down at once, but the concentration of the vitamin and my body not liking all of those Vitamins all at once. Thank you all for your suggestions. -
Surgery is TOMORROW! Doesn't seem real.
Stillmissing replied to mlgok's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best of luck to you. If you go in with the thought of "I'm going to do great", then you will. Just remember that this is a surgery and you are going to feel 'off' for a while. All I can tell you is to do what your Dr. says. If he/she says no lifting for X weeks, don't do it. I know you are going to miss holding your 3 year old, but he will be happy enough just sitting on your lap. You are doing something wonderful for yourself. I know what has to happen before surgery is even an option so I can honestly say that I'm proud of each and every one of us making the decision to take back our lives. Good luck tomorrow. -
I am 24 days out and I actually got my period a week earlier than I should have. I'm going to watch it for a few months to see if it goes back to a regular schedule.

Weight Loss Stall at 2 weeks Post-op
Stillmissing replied to Kristina Mccarthy-Martin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 19 days out and I, too, have stalled. Just when I was finally hitting my Fluid and Protein intake. I try not to weigh myself too often, but every few days I get curious. I almost feel as if I constantly have something in my mouth, whether it's my Water bottle, yogurt, shake, etc. I will take the advice of those who are further out than me and relax. I will get past this and hopefully soon, I can post another loss. -
People and their opinions

I had some very close people in my life try to talk me out of it. I simply said that they didn't have to live in my body, that this wasn't a hasty decision, I have the support of my family and it was MY decision. Everyone's experience is different and just because it didn't go well for one person doesn't mean it will go badly for you. This is a decision that could potentially save your life. It is time to be selfish. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

In the first month
Stillmissing replied to TamaraRae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my 9 day post-op visit and found I had lost 13lbs. Shocked me, but I was thrilled. -
Getting Fluids In...UGH
Stillmissing replied to drey's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found that sugar free Popsicles are helpful in that arena.
