I see why its so hard to find NO COMPLICATION stories
taracutch replied to Womanvsmirror's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@katesuccess thanks so much for that. Glad it helped. I have some of those issues. -
Ok who is currently on a preop diet?!
taracutch replied to Katrinakit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day 3 and I'm miserable. I want to work out but I'm afraid I will be starving afterwards and make bad choices. -
Hey VIPs, I'm less than 2 weeks from WLS and I say please please PLEASE don't treat me like a delicate flower if I post something dumb. These past 6 months on here have been amazingly helpful and entertaining. Just one favor, don't be too mean right now. I'm on day 3 of my pre op diet and I'm pretty sure I'm capable of murder. Lol

Will WLS work if the problem isn't overeating?
taracutch replied to WitchySar's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
But what ARE small portions? We pre oppers don't know. We really don't. We think we do. Lol. You say you don't eat large "portions" but in America portions are out of whack. I'm less than 2 weeks from surgery and have worked my butt off absorbing every scrap of info available to me and I'm still unsure of what a pizza portion is. Not that I have any interest in pizza but for the sake of argument, I would assume it's less than half of a slice. But your husband, if asked, may say a serving portion is 2 slices maybe. I think that's what people consider normal. But I would guess it would be like a half slice. Our portions are completely out of whack. -

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You have no idea how much I needed this post!! I'm on day 3 of my starvation, um I mean pre op diet and wondering what the hell I've gotten myself into. It's been almost one year since I decided I wanted this and for the very first time ( this morning) I thought about backing out. -

Good insight @@Womanvsmirror ! SO glad it's going well for you. Mine turned out beautifully, and even an unexpected huge benefit from the hiatal hernia repair. It's been the best thing I ever did for myself, and I've had ZERO complicatoins or problems. Sure i've gotten frustrated these past two years about an occasional stall, but now i have that in better perspective and don't let it rattle me. That Water thing is hard, and heaven help me, even after two years I have to constantly remind myself. I'm glad at least that smaller bites and portions and not drinking with meals are all now firmly in the 'habit' part of my life. off to get another freaking glass of water now--- Can you explain the hiatal hernia repair benefits? I'm getting that done too, along with gall bladder removal and RNY on 6/27. -
Personally, I've never been bullied by a vet but I'd rather be yelled at by a vet than deserted by them going to a secret forum. They are the ones with info and if anyone is an ass to me I will suck it up or block them. It's just not that serious.

I just found out this morning at my pre op visit. I thought since I'm one of his smallest patients, I would only have to do a week. This was unexpected. I would have pigged out yesterday [emoji35]

I'm on day one of 14 and already miserable but I refuse to cheat. I can have protein shakes (3), broth, sugar free jello and the usual low cal drinks. This is going to SUCK!!
-
I'm on day one of my 14 day pre op liquid diet too. I'm dying of hunger [emoji22]

I was a "super healthy" fat person until surgery changed my life. Was it worth it?

Wow! What an amazing post!! Thanks so much for taking the time to share. So motivating for this newbie pre-opper!! -

I go to meet with the nurse on Monday and get my plan then. I'm dreading it! -
Ah... Those ppl that try to cheat the system.. I feel ya. They kind of deserve to get scolded a bit. There are so many ppl who want this tool so bad but can't have it for some reason and then you get the cheaters who want support.
-
Agreed. Just answer the question. Or...if the question irritates you that much, just keep scrolling.
-
I got "yelled" at on here once for asking a question that could have been answered if I had "read the whole thread." So after getting reprimanded I scrolled through the entire post and still didn't really find the answer. I don't ask questions any more. I already feel judged for being overweight and don't need to be judged in a forum.

Hi taracutch - we're close in surgery dates (I'm rny 6/17) and age (I'll me 46 in a week). Good luck! Sent from my SM-G928V using the BariatricPal App Good luck to you as well!!! I'm so irritated that my date is so late in the month. I was approved 2 weeks ago. Everyone else seems like is scheduled 2 weeks after approval. I'm trying to focus on the positive...at least I was approved quickly and didn't have insurance nightmares but patience is not a quality I have. Lol -
Thanks for updating Lemm61. I've been thinking about you and praying. I'm sorry you're having issues but rejoice that you're on the losers bench and the misery will soon be a distant memory. Keep us posted on your progress! Take care of yourself!

Got my date today! June 27th!
taracutch replied to taracutch's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm tired of waiting. The excitement has turned into irritation. I am so grateful to have this opportunity but I was approved last week and they don't have an opening for a month. I'm so happy to have a date but its frustrating -
June 27. I'm so depressed that I'm the last one. I begged for an earlier date

I just sent a request too

I have a surgery date!

June 27th!! -
My surgery day is the same as you. 6/27. 6/7: A group counseling session 6/9: Pre/op day. Meeting with the surgeon again, NUT to review pre/post op diet and bone density scan 6/13: start two week high Protein liquid diet. I believe I am allowed 4 oz of real protein, like chicken, yogurt, eggs and unlimited no starchy veggies with 4 Protein shakes a day. 6/27: THE BIG DAY! I am scheduled to arrive at the hospital at 1:15pm which makes me nervous since you can have nothing to drink, not even Water after Midnight! We're surgery twins!!

Thanks for the info. After I was approved last week they scheduled me for 3 pre-op appointments. One per week leading up to surgery as follows: 6/7: pre-op testing at the hospital (whatever that is) 6/13: pre-op class with the nurs 6/21: meet again with surgeon 6/27: surgery
