6 month waiting period for insurance is crazy
taracutch replied to bac2u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@bac2u I'm the exact same way! I'm getting RNY tomorrow. My surgeon said that honestly that's my only hope because it's like hitting a reset button and afterwards my dieting will actually have an affect. But I agree that the 6 month wait is torture. I used my time wisely and probably needed it. But the waiting was still torture. -
June 27 - FREAKING OUT
taracutch replied to charley27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks @@kjr2016 I have grown weary of the horror stories even though it's good to know the possibilities. The closer I get to surgery, the less I want to hear the negative. At this point I'm trying to stay positive. -
Drain tube stalling recovery
taracutch replied to albare1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will fight the doctor in the hospital to take it out. One way or another I'm not keeping that thing for 9 days. I don't want it at all. Some surgeons don't use them. I wouldn't give them her name. Lol -
June 27 - FREAKING OUT
taracutch replied to charley27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't been overweight my whole life, so I literally feel like I've been wearing a fat suit for the past 10 years. I believe it's karma for making fun of overweight people when I was young and stupid. Never again!! -
June 27 - FREAKING OUT
taracutch replied to charley27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm up Monday too. I'm worried about all that stuff and a lot more. But I'm more worried about spending my life in this fat suit. -
Drain tube stalling recovery
taracutch replied to albare1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm pre op. Surgery is Monday and my surgeon refuses to take it out until 7/6. Nine days!! I honestly am going to have my nurse friend take it out before then. I'm not dealing with it that long. Unless I can beg at the hospital. -
I'm going to have the drain in for 9 days. I'm really upset about it too. I'm up 6/27 and he scheduled me to have it out 7/6 [emoji35]

But for those who are doing 2 weeks don't feel bad bc after I had a couple more food funerals I felt TERRIBLE. I thought I would add that so I don't have a mutiny. I was doing so well and feeling so great and I feel like crap now. I'm bloated and miserable and struggling to get back on track so I wish he would have never given me the green light.
-
Ok so don't use this as an excuse to cheat but after week one of liquid dieting I went to my appointment and the surgeon said I can have a couple cheat days bc the 2 week diet isn't necessary for me with a lower BMI (40). He said he really only needs me to diet for 3 days but his staff tells everyone 2 weeks so the others won't get upset. So I got to eat but didn't go overboard

How Often Do You Weigh Yourself?
taracutch replied to psvzum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I'll stick to weekly because if it's frequent enough to keep me on track but gives enough time to not get freaked out about the daily ups and downs of water weight. Unfortunately, I'm like the other poster who said she gets discouraged and feels like cheating when she sees a gain. I need to work on that. -

Does anyone have to pay a large copay and deductible
taracutch replied to Justina0218's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh I see. Gotcha. I am so incredibly thankful for my husband's insurance because I'm self-employed and would have to deal with Obamacare. I know he meant well but it's a disaster imo. Sorry, guess that's political and not helpful. I just feel really bad for those with bad insurance. It's so unfair [emoji45] -
@@allsmilez not even 2 days before? No bowel prep?

@"kindle" I'm not sure why he's calling you blind either. No offense to Fredbear bc he usually posts helpful comments but that was kind of harsh :/ -
There are two surgeons in my office. One uses a drain and the other doesn't. I'm unlucky to have the one who uses a drain and found out too late to change surgeons. Do you think there's any way to talk him out of it or am I just screwed? I really, really don't want a drain!
-
@ witchySar...I agree. Lots of bullying here. I just move along when I read a post that makes me roll my eyes. Luckily, there are far more friendly people here than rude and I've learned so much from BP members so I just ignore the crabby posters. I just assume they're hungry or in pain and keep it moving. @@charley27 we're surgery twins!

That sounds absolutely horrible and scary. I'm going to die.

ME TOO!! Pain, no biggie, but I pass out anytime I get grossed out. Since I live alone, I was terrified I'd pass out every time I had to empty or clean around the drains. Guess what?? I didn't, not even a little, really wasn't gross at all, PHEW!! Though, just to be safe, the first time I had to clean around them, I laid down on the bed to do it, lol!! And I made sure to have them let me drain them, while still in the hospital, to make sure I could AND stay conscious, lol! You'll be fine, I'm sure. If I can do it, ANYONE can! Ok that made me feel better. Thanks.
-
Agreed. Call asap. I'm up 6/27 and have had pre admission testing last week and a second meeting tomorrow with the surgeon.
-
Whew! Glad all is well. Although nausea is the WORST! I hope they can get that under control for you asap!
-
Ok. Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience. It just really makes me queasy thinking about it. I have a high tolerance for pain but I get super grossed out by anything medical and can't stand the thought of something so gross.

Icantbelieveit. I'm the same way. I'm going to weigh monthly for the 1st year post op and weekly during maintenance.
