1 year and two months post surgery how's everyone doing?

Trying to lose these last 10. I've taken up weight lifting. Seemed to help. Maybe the scale isnt moving but my pant size and body is transforming. I guess when they say dont go by the scale they mean it. -

Before and After Mommy Makeover
IrishGermanRN replied to Bossbabe's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
amazing! I'm having a mommy makeover This Saturday. My surgeon says I can do lipo with fat transfer to buttocks. I was hesitant due to the recovery. I'm also getting a tummy tuck and breast lift with augmentation. Ive heard we are not to sit? but how so? Would love to know how you recovered. Looks amazing!! -

What was the longest stall you had?
IrishGermanRN replied to asmallerme2016's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 8 months out and just got through a 2 month stall.. All of a sudden dropped 3 pounds. Hoping it keeps going!! The weight loss..not the stall -

HELLO JANUARY SLEEVERS!
IrishGermanRN replied to IrishGermanRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Emotional eating for me as well.. This last stall was long almost 2 months. But dropped 2 pounds this week. Keep at it everyone! -
Been in a stall for a month. I'm 6 months out. Going to keep doing what I do.. I'm logging food. Going to increase protein and cut carbs. See what works to make it budge

I went to Tijuana Mexico to the OCC Although the hyper link will point you to their ad, I did not go there

I was selfish and scared because I didn't want to be judged as a cheater. Then I said screw it.. I know who I am and it's gonna get out sooner or later. So anyone who asks... I tell them

How old is too old to be sleeved?
IrishGermanRN replied to silverthreads's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My mom is 73 and has a 2nd meeting with the surgeon in July. She has a band that was placed in 2006 which has failed. If she can get the weight off and have 10 years quality of life it is well worth it. She has bad knees from the weight but otherwise is in good health. -
Insurance assigns a Case Nurse....nice or a trap?
IrishGermanRN replied to gina171's topic in Insurance & Financing
That's too bad you're looking at the insurance company as the enemy rather than the RN as a helpful benefit. -

Anyone with successful weight loss with the gastric sleeve that had NO success with the lap band?
IrishGermanRN replied to DGM's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Same here. I lost about 30 pounds total with a lot of difficulty. My band then did slip. had an unfil and never the same since. Looking forward to the removal and getting the sleeve in 3 weeks. Fantastic. I'm the lowest I've been in years. Best thing was go to the VSG -
Insurance assigns a Case Nurse....nice or a trap?
IrishGermanRN replied to gina171's topic in Insurance & Financing
The nurse case manager's job is two-fold, to advocate for the patient, and to coordinate your care. I was self-pay and had no case manager, but if I had one, she would have saved me all the headaches (and bodyaches) I went through trying to coordinate faxes between my doctors' offices and my work's short term disability program; this was not pleasant to do while I was still recovering post-op. Luckily the hospital where I had my procedure at has a Bariatric Coordinator that served as my advocate. I got regular phone calls checking up on how I was recovering and she offered to personally call my surgeon on his cell if I needed any antibiotics or additional pain medication. Another way to look at a nurse case manager is this, it's their job to be your coach, to monitor that you stay on track and continue to benefit (healthwise) from your surgery. The insurance company is investing money into you. A healthier you = less obesity-related medical costs down the road for them. If you end up not being compliant with the necessary WLS lifestyle changes, then the insurance company is at a financial lost from the cost of your procedure and then has more obesity-related expenses as you stay overweight. Definitely take advantage of having a nurse case manager if it's offered! Well said
