Best way I have found to make coffee
IrishGermanRN replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Found Fairlife at Staters here in California. Bought the last one. I made a double decaf espresso and added 1 truvia. Whipped the Fairlife and SF hazelnut creamer and made a yummy cappuccino. -
I'm getting the revision too. My band slipped. Then decided to have it removed as it was not giving me any restriction and with all the fills. Then I learned to eat around the band. I was always hungry. If Protein did not go down.. I would eat things that did. I've learned so much since deciding to proceed with the revision. Proteins first. I would get so frustrated with the band. eat proteins. chew chew chew to then slime. And this would be a year out. Band tight during stress or anxiety. getting an unfill then a fill. I would stop eating when I felt a little tight after a few bites but still be hungry!! Then I would wait for the food to go down and take a few more bites. By NIght time I could eat whatever I wanted. Looking forward to a better tool!

You could try crushing and put in jello or thin apple sauce if you're allowed. -
HELLO JANUARY SLEEVERS!
IrishGermanRN replied to IrishGermanRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey! I'm having my sleeve done on Jan 20th, also at the OCC! I'm also doing the 2 week liquid diet thing, and it super sucks for me I haven't lost an ounce since I started liquids last Wednesday (lost 14 lbs right before that though on the atkins-esque pre-pre op diet), and I'm starving all the time. I think I'm winning the head hunger games though since i'm not cracking! KEEP THE EYE ON THE PRIZE. See you in 8 days! Eye on the prize is right! The Atkins preop I could not do. I tried and it was tough. I ended up gaining. The preop. I'm just finishing day 7 and its easy for me. I'm even forgetting to eat. I did cook tonight for my son and that was a lil tough but figured I'm half way there.. almost. Then there is post op. -
2 week post op. Woop.
IrishGermanRN replied to TAB_VSG's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
First, thanks so much for noticing! It's always a bit justified when people can see what you can't! : D In my previous post, I mentioned my mom had the lapband done. She did well for a few months, then slacked off. I believe hers slipped. She just recently had it readjusted and is now done to the 220s from I think about 250. I myself have never had the lapband. VSG is my first, so I cant expand on much. : P I picked the sleeve because I didn't want to go through the process my mom went through of regurgitating almost everything she ate. I dont know if that was specific to the band, but I know hearing her gag in the bathroom after every meal definitely deterred me. Did you you have the same issue? Congrats on your sleeve and much, much luck! Hopefully, it'll be a better option for you. <3 ok. well congrats, youre doing great. Yes the band and the slime/pb of the food was annoying. I never knew what or when a food would go down. frustrating. I learned to eat around my band. Then my band slipped in 2012 and I had most of the Fluid removed. had some restriction but not enough. Gained all but 5 pounds back. -

Congrats and yes I see the difference in your pics!! You said you had a lap band in one of your previous posts. Can you expand on that? I currently have a failed band and am getting sleeve surgery on 1/20. -
Questions for those that went to Tijuana Mexico for GS

You have a sleeve and it looks only 2 years out. can you tell us why you are going with the bypass? -
I'm currently taking a Multivitamin, B12, Ca, D3 and a probiotic chewable. Post OP I'm basically doing the same but I've wondered if I should order chewables or liquid to get me through post op. Any suggestions what to get? Seems every Bariatric surgeon has their preference or its tied into their own program.

Bariatric Eating FaceBook group seems to have great ideas regarding the weight gain 2 years post surgery.

Keep us updated how youre doing. Thanks! I'm doing pretty well actually. Have had the gas a bit still but it seems to be making it's way out alright. I've been a bit emotional today but think that's all a very early part of this journey. I hope you are doing well! Great. How emotional? regrets? excited? I'm just ending the first week of preop liquid diet. All Liquids. Starting day 7 today -
Discussing it with the spouse
IrishGermanRN replied to Anilyn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My family has been saying the last few years why dont I have my band removed. I talked to my husband about finally doing this and he said., "sure it didnt work anyway" I didnt discuss gastric sleeve. That is next. I think he was tired of me PB and slime and not being able to eat a regular meal like the rest. Being out at a restaruant and needing to leave to the restroom got old. Having to pull over because my food wouldnt go down to slime. I'm hoping the sleeve is not the same way and he is supportive. -
Surgery Scheduled and very Nervous!
IrishGermanRN replied to Caela88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm scheduled on the 20th and feel the same as you do. I'm exactly in the same boat as you. My surgeon is wanting to do both at the same time. I currently have an unfilled band. I was told by my surgeon that 95% of the time this can be done without complications. There have only been a few that he could not do. This would be due to possible band erosions or too much scar tissue. He wont know till he goes in. I'm really looking forward to not PB or slime all the time and lead a semi normal life. I'm so tired of the slime even when I just eat a frickin berry. My band was so unpredictable. -

Extra restriction caused by anxiety ?
IrishGermanRN replied to The Lion Tamer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This would happen all the time with me. If I have anxiety... it would be difficult to get anything down. I had to take things very slow. -
HELLO JANUARY SLEEVERS!

Getting through day 5 of this liquid diet. Last time I did liquids for 2 weeks was post op when I got my band back in 09 Then I didnt care. I didnt want anything anyway. This is getting tough but I want less visceral fat and a good liver so they can do both procedures at once. How is everyone doing? -

Revision done in one or two surgeries?
IrishGermanRN replied to Jenpen197803's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I feel the same as both of you. Sometimes I wonder what am I thinking by doing this. My doctor said the 2 week liquid diet is key. All liquids for me. I'm sure each surgeon is different. He wont know till he gets in there if it can be done as a one and done. -
VITAMINS post op
IrishGermanRN replied to IrishGermanRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Source of life Gold. I see it has b12 and D3. Did you take calcium chewable as well. I'm just thinking getting a pill down post op will be difficult and want to be prepared. Probiotics are chewable. what would you recommend? -
I have a vape and that has helped me when I want to snack. I have one called Looper. Its Fruit Loops and milk flavor. amazing. I also have monkey snack. Peanut Butter and banana. it works for me.

New Whey Protein Shots
IrishGermanRN replied to Thecloude1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm trying a few of the isopure. I cut them with Water and am fine. broth is good but when ya don't want salty all the time, it's a good alternative. It's all about individual preference. Would like to know other options besides isopure -
Power crunch bars! My daughter works out, never had a weight issue. Sticks to lean clean diet and these are her go to for her last snack or when ever. She always travels with them. They are really good. I used them on weight watchers and will after my sleeve ... Way later
