    Looking for a friend

Hi Jocelyn, my name is Ebony I'm 24 and had the bypass on Dec 16th of last year starting at 226 I've recently hit my 4 month mark and I'm currently at 157. I used to have the same issue as you when it comes to being nauseous but I quickly learned it was because I didn't wait the whole 30 minutes in between drinking and eating. Every since surgery I barely can get in 48 Oz a day if that, it happens to a lot of us. If you'd like to inbox me I could use a friend as well.
  2. Sorry I didn't see your other comment, I had mine done in Alexandria, LA
  3. I let the bariatric surgeons office handle it all because BCBS couldn't answer any of my questions over the phone, they would direct me back to their website.
  4. If your fertility specialist did record your weight it should definitely count.
  5. They didn't ask me for any documents at all, they called the doctors office where I had been tested for a thyroid in which I was weighed so they was able to count it, the rest of the appointments was done at the bariatric office. They required me to have blood work, 2 nutrition appts, 1 psych evaluation, and a sleep study (I set all of these up before they had a chance to call me first lol). They all ask the same questions just to see if you really have attempted weightloss on your own. Everything was written down as notes, they will also ask what are your plans as far as exercising and if you have support in helping you reach your goal.
  6. You don't need to start weight watchers, I used BCBS Federal and they approved me based on a doctor's visit I had done months prior, 1 visit with my bariatric doctor in November 2015 (they weighed me), then 1 visit with my bariatric doctor and his nutritionist as a 3rd month visit in December. My surgery ended up being December 16th. I completed all steps in 3 weeks and had surgery the 4th week after my very first appointment. They counted failed attempts such as 21 day fix and 2 months on Shaune T Insanity.
  7. I lost 22 my first month, start slow and at least get a mile or 2 of walking in per day. For now it may seem like your weight loss is moving slow but those pounds add up really fast. I started at 226 and I now weigh 163 and I'm only 3.5 months post op. Also don't let the scale get to you, although the number may be the same you could've lost plenty of inches. I had many weeks where I woke up and the scale had finally moved, I would suggest taking progress pictures so you can monitor your change that way. : )
  8. I'm 5'3 start weight was 226 Surgery weight 223 on 12/16/16 I just hit my 3 month mark and have lost 53 lbs, I'm currently at 173 lbs.

    Insurance Tricare?

I have Tricare standard and had the bypass on 12/16 I completed all steps to get my surgery within 3 weeks , I also have BCBS Federal under my dad so I didn't have any out of pocket fees besides the $120 for my nutrition session and $25 for pshy eval. I have no regrets of getting the bypass I have lost 30 lbs in 4 weeks which I think is great considering I was 223 the day of surgery so I thought I would be a slow loser.

Hmm how much have you lost

I know coffee is a no no too but I want some of McDonald's Vanilla iced coffee so bad but I'm not sure if I would dump or not, you're doing really good though. Do you exercise and if so what kind of things? I walk on my treadmill or outside but I'm getting a little bored with that. I was wondering when I would start to notice something for myself besides my husband saying he does. Protein shakes are a huge downfall for me so I try to eat almost anything that has it to make up for what I am lacking. How much have you lost now that you're at the 3 month mark?

Hmm how much have you lost

Hi, I'm actually doing really good for the most part, my only problem is making sure I get in all my fluids. I have lost some weight though I started at 226, surgery 223 and I'm at 204 now which I don't think is too bad considering tomorrow is my 3 week mark. I'm hoping to be on the track you're on because you've done really well : )

    Question for ladies!

I have had the same problem I'll be 3 weeks post op on Wednesday and hadn't had a period in almost 2 years due to having the Nexplanon birth control, today it is finally gone after almost one week of the brown and about 5 days of a full period. I'm hoping everything regulates itself now as my metabolism isn't moving as fast as it was.

    3 weeks post op

Following, I had surgery the same day as you and I can take normal drinks as well. I'm hardly ever hungry but when I do eat something I have no problems with whatever I choose.
  17. Awwww it sucks you had to go through the extra pain, make sure to take your pills as needed and don't let them wear off. Also if you have the gas strips use them, that's where most of my pain came from.

Hello my name is Ebony and I'm a wife and mother of three. I recently had RNY on December 16th. My weight has been up and down for so long, I read about gastric bypass for months until I finally decided to make an appointment to see a doctor. My highest weight was 226 at my first visit which was 11/18/15 with a bmi of 40.23, on the day of surgery 12/16/15 I was 222. Yes you're reading it right lol I had my initial visit, seminar, 2 nutrition appointments, blood testing, sleep study, psychological evaluation, insurance approval, and surgery all within 4 weeks. I was very shocked at how fast the process was for me but I was beyond ready to have this new start. As of today I am 6 days post op, I haven't had any pain meds in 3 days and I was able to get out and walk a mile today with no problems. The only thing I am struggling with is not being able to share the delicious meals with my family. My husband has been very supportive throughout this whole process so when I'm having a melt down he helps remind me of why I made this decision and I love that about him. As of now I'm on full liquids so I mainly have water, protein shakes, propel, cream of wheat, sugar free pudding, creamy soups, jello, and sugar free popsicles. I feel as though I have done very well so far, I can't wait to see how much I've lost in just 2 weeks at my appointment.

    Surgery Buddies? :)

Hi, I'm 2 weeks 1 day post op and I will say the first week was definitely the hardest. Ive had a few different things to eat which has made me feel much better like having eggs, mashed potatoes, broccoli and cheese soup, shrimp, refried beans/cheese and salmon. I haven't had and dumping syndrome which I am terrified of getting but trust me next week will be much better. I also had my first post op appointment yesterday and losing 15lbs in two weeks made me so excited for what's to come.

Good luck to you, I would suggest getting Gas X strips if you don't have any for when you come home because that is what causes the most pain in your stomach, they have the drops at the hospital.
  22. Hi ladies, I'm following your post I had surgery on 12/16 as well and was having a hard time getting in fluids also but I've realized I can drink about 8 Oz in 15 minutes which helps me get closer to the goal. I never received a drain so I don't know if there's a difference there or not but I do have kids also 1,5, and 7 and understand how hard alot of things are. I can't seem to get all of my protein shakes in because they taste weird but I am having Sf popsicles, sf pudding, eggs with Lf cheese, soup, Powerade zero, yogurt, instant mashed potatoes, and tuna which all give me that feeling of actually eating. I also had Pinto beans and cheese from Taco bell today and omg it was the best, although I could only eat about half but it's good protein.
  23. Mrs_B_12/16/15

    Water?!?

I had surgery 12/16/15 and was told I needed to drink at least 2 ounces every 15 minutes but just through trials I realized I can drink 8 within 15 minutes without any problems, just try to take in as much as you feel you can at a time.

@@Pinkgirl1234 I have no idea how they we're able to get me approved so fast and I guess it is something very special about my doctor because everytime I needed to make an appointment for another step they would be booked up until January, I would state his name and they would say "oh since your his patient we can squeeze you in. We try to get his patients through quickly." It's odd but I'm excited that I got it done especially as my scale moves down 1-2 pounds per day. Congrats to you and I hope your recovery is as smooth and easy as mine seems to be. : )

Hmm how much have you lost

@@dolphinkrazy22 Hi, I think that's great. Just think most people lose 100 within a year and you have lost almost half that in 2 months. I had my surgery 12/16/15 and I weighed 224 the day of surgery, if I'm able to lose as much as you have that fast I will be super excited. : )
