wishcenter.org I just wanted to let those of you whom are considering Mexico to take a look at this ~ I live in the Dallas area, but I go to San Antonio every few months just for fun, so this is PERFECT! In fact, I'm going for my birthday and they happen to be having a seminar!! The $10,950 covers the anesthesiologist fees, the center's fees, surgeons fees and 1 night hospital stay. I read on a review of the 2 doctors and someone mentioned that pre-surgery testing can run up to $2000 for the EKG, blood work, etc...and there was some $1800 or so 'Lifetime support' charge. But this is still cheaper than plane tickets to Mexico for me. The doctor's names are Dr. Jorge Rincon and Dr. Paresh Rajajoshiwala.

Everyone who had band removed??Insurance??
CirqueDallas replied to athykay's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm not banded yet, but I asked my dr that very question (since I'll be a self-pay) ~ Insurance won't cover to get it, will they pay to remove it if I run into problems...Dr. Jay said yes, at that point, it is considered medically necessary. -
CONGRATS!!! Please keep us posted as to how you're feelin' and a healin'!

You're such a sweetie! I was just there this morning and found a great bra that was clearanced for $12.99! I'm going back tonight to look around again! :biggrin1: -
This is something that I'm seriously taking into consideration trying to come to my decision to get the lapband. One of the questions that Dr. Jay asked me was if I had ever had a resistant staph...and I have. Received it during a scoping of my knee. 3 days after surgery I woke up in excrusiating pain all over my body on my husband's graduation day. Obviously I had to miss and my mom took me to my doctors office in tears. The dr came into my room and saw my leg, told his nurse to reschedule everyone else in the waiting room and for me to get to the hospital ER immediately. I ended up in the hospital for almost 3 weeks, got a central line put in and was sent home having to give myself IVs 3x/day of Ancef & taking Cipro for a month. Found out later that I came close to losing my leg. And this was all from a knee scope!!! I can't imagine having that kind of an issue in my gut. I've had knee issues since, but my orthapedic said he doesn't want to open me again since I've had the infection unless it was absolutely necessary ~ so for you medical people out there....does that mean that I'd have a better chance of getting it again?!!:omg:

I am having surgery in the morning!!

Good luck!!!! I can't wait to hear how you do!!! Here's wishing you nothing but the very best of luck tomorrow!!!!:clap2: -
My EXACT feelings!!! I'll be a self pay also and I keep flip-flopping on the decision! I told my boyfriend this afternoon on our way to lunch.... how motivated would I be if someone said...I'll pay you $15,000 if you can lose 80 lbs? :moony: OMG! Well heck ya!! Wait...then what's the difference?! Either I'm paying it or saving it. Dangit!!:ermm

Well, after months of research, I went to see Dr. Jay here in Dallas a little more than a month ago. Unfortunately my company changed to BCBS/Tx in January and OMG ~ I spoke to a very helpful person there and she told me that they want a 12 month history with your dr, pschy, dietition, etc. I'm not waiting! So, I'm going this week for my EKG and blood tests and will go from there! My absolute biggest fear is receiving a resistant staph infection ~ I've already had 1 and almost lost my leg to it....so this is #1, although it is highly unlikely. A more reasonable fear is erosion, or any complication causing the removal of the band! I'm Ready!!!

I'm pre-banded still but I'm in Frisco

AAKKKKKK!!! :faint: CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!!

self pay - then complications-will insuranc cover
CirqueDallas replied to imalene's topic in Insurance & Financing
I will probably be a self pay and I asked my doctor the same question. He said that if there are complications, etc after the band, insurance would pay because it is medically necessary at that point. -
I have it too, but it only seems to act up a few times a month. I remember first having this sensation when I was a kid ~ I just thought I was squirmy!! I don't take meds, but I will get up and get a hot bath..the hotter, the better on my legs. Then if I'm still a bit squirmy, I'll stand then go up on my tippy toes, then back down....then alternate the legs and it will give my legs a good little workout and make them 'tired'. I keep meaning to say something to my doctor to see what meds are out there, but I just haven't since it really doesn't hit me hard but every once in a while.

How scary!!! I'm so sorry, but glad that you're ok and sounds like everyone else is too ~ just take it easy tomorrow because it always seems that you'll really feel it most the day after. Take some advil and maybe make yourself a margarita or something to try to relax abit ~ alcohol = good muscle relaxer!

Cancel banding because of Migraines?
CirqueDallas replied to Tootarts's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm SO happy for you!!! If you can deal with migraines, feeling groggy & loopy is nothing! Just don't drive if it's really bad, but I'm glad to hear that your doctor is helping you out with the nausea! WOO HOO!! -
Cancel banding because of Migraines?
CirqueDallas replied to Tootarts's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh please hang in there! I'm really anxious to hear what your doctor has to say...because I've thought of this exact situation with the band. I have the same kind as you ~ I can hold my hand right in front of my face and I can maybe only see a fingertip. Throwing up does help releive the migraine ~ I asked my doctor why, because I just couldn't put the two together. When you throw up, your body will rush blood to where your body is 'traumatized', thus relieving the pressure in your head. I can't use any of the migraine meds out there either because I can't tell that they do a thing, or they make me REALLY sick. Maybe you can get something that can just knock you completely out. I know it's hard to do that, but you can't function with the migraine anyway. Who knows, the band may actually help. You're in my prayers and keep us posted!! -
Meat tenderizer?! Wow! I wonder what that does to the lining of your tiny tummy when they don't even want you to drink soda? But if it helps and you're in pain, probably worth it!

I met with Dr. Jay here in Dallas and I absolutely loved everyone that I met there! He has 4 lap-banders that currently work in his office. I'm going to wait until just after the first of the year! WOO HOO!!! :banana

I had my first visit with him this past Wednesday and I really liked him. I had been researching several doctors here in the Dallas area and I kept going back to him. Several people on the board here use him as well.

I was in Weds for a 3:00 appt! What time were you there? I was talking to a lady whom was banded 2 wks ago and she said that she was feeling great! A few others were newbies like me with the stack of paperwork to fill out! Haha We may have seen each other! I just thought of something...someone came in for just pre-surgery stuff...blonde hair...maybe it was you! hehe Congrats on your upcoming surgery!!
