I had my RNY on December 14, 2015. So far, I have lost 40lbs. I am in the process of slowing introducing new foods and it has been a challenge. The foods that I think we'll make me sick don't and the foods I should be eating I can't. Tonight, I tried something new and I have some serious nausea going on. I've only vomited three times since surgery. However, I still have trouble getting in protein and drinking enough water. I can only drink half a protein shake in one hour. If I try to drink any more than half, I get sick. My question is will I feel normal and what is the average time frame?

I had my surgery on December 14, 2015 and I guess everything has been going okay except for a few things: The post-op meds are disgusting. Since I can't swallow anything bigger than a tic-tac, most of my pills (new and existing meds)have to be crushed. I choke to get them down. Even the calcium supplement makes me gag. Next is the food. I haven't found much to eat that appeals to me. Since the place I am staying at (for a few more days) doesn't have a blender, I have found cream of chicken soup to be the least objectionable. The final thing that is disgusting are the bowel movements. Does any of this get easier and less gross?

What goes in, must come out, right?

Since I stopped taking the medication, have not had any problems. But I will continue to monitor my situation. -
So it's me again expanding on one point of my"everything is disgusting " topic. So, the stool (diarrhea, liquid lava) is awful. My doctor prescribed a stool softener to take twice a day but it is more of a stool liquifier. About two hours after I eat breakfast is when it starts and it goes throughout the day. To keep things consistent, I have eaten the same each day. I am going to withhold my dose of softener to see if this helps. Any other suggestions? Please, my "arse" hurts.

I was taking 5 ml twice a day. Probably preventative. Going to not take the dose tonight and eat something different. -
I had laporoscopic bypass on Monday and have one little spot that still is painful. For the most part, I am off pain meds except for liquid Tylenol now and then. Everyone is different.
