Birth control after gastric bypass...
Ready2LoseIt213 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So I have a question.. What type of birth control are you ladies on after surgery? Pill, shot, implant etc? I asked my doctor about what would be better and if the pill would be absorbed since I have had gastric bypass . I was just curious as to what methods other people are using and if they had any side effects such as weight gain, headaches, high blood pressure etc? Thanks for the help! -
Hey guys! I just wanted to share my motivation jar with you in case anyone wants to do this. I love it and it feels very rewarding!

Birth control after gastric bypass...
Ready2LoseIt213 replied to Ready2LoseIt213's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I started my period while in the hospital. One day after surgery! Fun! Lol ... I haven't been on birth control in a very long time. It took many years for me to get pregnant for my daughter but I do not want to get pregnant any time soon so I'm trying to figure out which would be best. I have considered the Nexplanon which is a tiny implant in your arm that is good for 3 years. My best friend is on that one but seems to have a period 2-3 times a month and I'm not all about that life! Lol... Cervidae--- did you have any raises in your blood pressure with the pills? I do like the idea of seasonal periods hahah -
Maybe TMI but today has been a terrible day for me. I have had gas pains and terrible gas all day long. My stomach feels swollen and I feel miserable. When I get the pains they feel like contractions they hurt so bad! I am 9 weeks post op, down 54 lbs but really wish I felt better than this. Anyone else???

That is normal! I was in terrible pain for about three days . I could still walk and move around but my abdomen was in a lot of pain... Considering what goes on in surgery I think it's understandable. Good luck to you! -
Today's NSV -- I went to the movies with my daughter and husband and was able to put both arms down on the chair and have my daughter on my lap and was very comfortable! This hasn't happened in a LONG time!! Yay!!

Hi guys. So I got back in the gym today and it felt great. I walked a mile on the treadmill , 2 miles on the bike , did arm, back and leg machines and burned a little over 600 calories in 1 hour. My question is .. Do we add those calories back in to our day? I'm only allowed 600 calories per day but tiring to get all your protein( shakes) and everything I'm worried I will go over and still not have enough protein in.. Thoughts??

I'm pretty early in to this journey but the other day I went to a restaurant with my husband and we sat in a booth. I had a good 5-6 " from me to the table. It was a smaller booth that I know I felt tight in before. Those of you who know what I'm talking about know how cool this felt! -

I am so sick of protein shakes, pudding, jello and yogurt... I can't stand all these sweet tastes. I just want something savory... I know I can have chicken broth but I am so looking forward to something else!!! Who can relate and what are the first things you ate on the next phase? -

Working out
Ready2LoseIt213 replied to Ready2LoseIt213's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks guys. It is a lot of calories but I mostly did cardio. I did it again today working out on the Arc Trainer for an hour and I also burned 600 today. Remember I am much heavier then the average person right now so my calories burned are going to be significantly higher than a fit person. -

Actually I use a polar heart rate monitor and watch that I input my age, weight etc so it is accurate ... I haven't reached out to my dr yet since today was my first day back in the gym but I intend to call tomorrow. I just didn't want to eat too little and it hurt me. -
That full feeling?
Ready2LoseIt213 replied to tootie09's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 12 days Post op and I have the same feeling.. I don't really have that "full" feeling. But I think it's just bc I'm not "eating" anything. Although,The shakes sometimes take me a couple hours to finish.. -
Hi there. I am 5 days post op gastric bypass . I have had a few issues and just got out of the hospital yesterday. Apparently the blood thinner they gave me in surgery caused a reaction within my body causing me to actually bleed. So now all that old blood is coming out of me via bloody bowel movements. It has been super scary . I have done a lot of praying but my surgeon assures me everything is ok. The bleeding had slowed down a lot now and that is great. Hopefully it is done soon! While in the hospital I had to have 6 bags of blood transfusions to keep my levels up. Once they stayed up I was able to go home.. On Christmas Day! I go back on Monday to have blood work done and have my levels checked so I hope it remains up or I may have to have another transfusion. I am reading everything given to me by the surgeon and hospital and trying to get my fluids in as best as I can but I still sort of feel hungry even though I know I shouldn't . I also have lots of gas pains still and hoping to get rid of it. How long until the gas pain goes away and you feel full after just a few sips of Protein drink or a couple tbsp of pudding? I have read some people say they can hardly finish the couple tbsp . Also looking for any mentors out there who want a buddy? Thanks!
