Help! Anyone have leak after surgery?
drw2 replied to hurst143's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had a leak and it was awful!!! I was in so much pain. My pain was different than yours. I did have left side pain for a while but after 2 months it went away. Remember your Dr. did a lot to your insides...it's going to take time to heal. It's taken me 3 months and I'm finally starting to feel normal again. I hardly eat anything, sometimes I have left side pain but it's constipation now lol, and I've lost weight???? I was so frustrated but just remember it takes time. -
It's been 2 months since surgery and I know I'm eating less than before surgery but it seems like I'm even eating less than I should. How much do (or did) y'all eat at your 2-month mark? It also takes me at least an hour to finish my tiny bit of food. Is that normal to? Thanks for your help :-)

I'm able to get close to it. It's already hard to eat bc I'm not hungry but then I take medication for ADD and that makes me not hungry either so I have to force myself to sit down and eat and drink. Who would of thought that those things would become a chore!

I'm 2 months part op and I did have stricture and had my esophagus dilated last week (from less than 3cm-16cm) Anyway I'm eating and drinking now and have been doing well. However, tonight I couldn't keep my dinner down. I ordered chicken picotta and asparagus...ate a few bites and was full then 2 hrs later ended up throwing up. So my question is, is it normal to have a "bad" day (not keeping food down) every once and a while? Since my surgery nothing has been "normal" so I wanted to ask those of y'all who are having a "normal" recovery if this happens to you?

Has anyone had stricture? How did you know it was stricture, what were your symptoms? Did you have a procedure done to fix it and did it work?
-
I'm doing great! It was stricture and he stretched it out and I'm on liquids for today and tomorrow then pureed then soft foods. I'm alert and feeling good. Thanks for your support, I really appreciate it. :-)

Thanks for your help! It's helped me stay positive and I really appreciate it!!!!! I'll update you tomorrow after the procedure.

It seems like tonight was better than this morning. I was able to eat popsicles. I have sensitive teeth so I cut it up and let tiny bits disolve in my mouth..then later in I was able to drink some water. I'll try the tiny cup tomorrow. Thank you

Well I had my rny 12/14/15 then emergency surgery 12/20/15 because I had a leak.
-
Another question how did you get your fluids in until the procedure
-
Ok thanks so much. I'm a little nervous but I'm having it done on Wednesday and hopefully it will help.
-
Did the procedure help?

Liquid Tylenol will give you dumping syndrome bc the second ingredient is sugar...so avoid it.

Apprehensive feeling when asked "how much have you lost?"
drw2 replied to goblue9280's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
People at work know I had surgery. To fix my acid reflux (#1 surgery for that is bypass...but they don't know that) then in a meeting someone said oh yeah you had gastric bypass surgery. I wanted to slap get in the face...I looked shocked and said no. Seriously what gives people to right to assume and then blurt out thoughts. I was pissed. Luckily other people haven't said anything...They prob assume which is fine but I don't want to discuss it. -
I had gb on 12/14 then a revision to repair a leak 12/20. I've been feeling pretty well but there are some days where I can't stomach my Protein shakes and overall don't feel well. It's like a yuck feeling vs I need to go to the E.R. Is that normal? Has anyone else experienced this?
-
The repair took about two hrs according to my husband who apparently was pacing the waiting room ha ha. Honestly though the pain I was in after the 1st surgery was horrible. I was in so much pain, couldn't walk, barely move and we thought it was bc I was just a baby. After praying for God to give us a sign on what to do my fever spiked and we knew to go to the ER. After the second I was up walking around. It was AMAZING!!! A total 180

I had a temp of 101.5 and went to the er. They completed a ct scan and it showed I might have one so my Dr went back in and it looked like at one point a I had a microscopic leak and my body repaired it. When my body did that it created a small pocket of bacteria so my Dr cleaned that up and put in two drains and a feeding tube (to my old stomach). Needless to say I've been to hell and back lol. However, despite complications (which anyone has a chance of) I wouldn't change it. God has healed me and is con't to do so :-) I'm off of my feeding tube. I still have it in, for the next four weeks bc my stomach has to heal around it before it can be pulled. I got my last drain out last week. I hope this doesn't scare anyone but seriously I wouldn't change it. I knew the risks going in but of course didn't think they'd happen to me but they did and I had/have an amazing Dr. who has taken wonderful care of me. As for liquids, I'm trying so hard. I literally sip all day and I'm having hard time getting 64oz in. I usually get my Protein in but today I can't stomach the shakes.

Help not hello :-)

I had bypass on Monday and have started taking my vitamins, calcium and iron pills. I have tried a few different baratric multi vitamins but hate the taste...can someone reccomend a good kind.
-
I just orded my vitamins from Thorne.com and it's a capsule...Btw I'm 3 weeks out

I'm just now able to eat pureed food. Now that I'm able to "eat" I'm learning to feel the pressure in my chest telling me to stop eating. It's hard to feel that sometimes then I overeat and it feels aweful!!!!! So my question is, did y'all feel this way and have a hard time knowing when to stop eating? It's only happened twice but my gosh It's awful. Btw I had gastric bypass.
-
Honey..It's sugar. I had bypass and it's on my No No list
-
I had surgery December 14 then had emergency surgery to fix a complication on Dec 20th. Anyway every time I take a shower I feel nauseated. Also after I take my medication I feel nauseated. Is that normal?
-
I had bypass and I have zofran and take that after I get out of the shower but I wanted to know if a lot of y'all struggle with nausea. I'm going to talk to my Dr on Wednesday. I know I'm getting all my fluids all I'm not worried about dehydration. Thanks for your help :-)

I was told 10 lbs for 6 weeks. Better take it easy than have complications :-)
