Have you had a leak in your port/tubing and had to have it replaced?
miles2empty replied to DrewsLou's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
SLOW LEAK So I had an x-ray done today to determine where my leak might be, the radiology doctor could not see the leak which he said means I have a slow leak. I go back to see Dr. Oh on 10/16 and find out what he has to say. Does anyone have any experience with a "slow leak" and what they might have to do to fix that, is it just a whole new band or what not? I am not thrilled about having to have my band re-done, but if so I need to have it done before I lose insurance at the end of December. Sigh... On a side note, it was cool to see my band/port on the x-ray today. Now I know what it looks like at least! -
Weigh in... how much have u lost?

Hi everyone- I'm with Terri actually. I was banded on 5/22, and have gained 8 lbs since then. Doc told me to expect it, from all the surgery stuff and from recovering and what not. Not too worried about it. Went for my first 1 mile walk yesterday, that felt really good (well first 1 mile post surgery anyway, before surgery I was playing soccer 4x a week, ha ha). recovery is going well, now am ready to see some lbs drop off! best of luck to everone!! -
Congratulations to all of us May 22nd bandsters. We are doing awesome. I am home recovering, was completely scared that my surgery wouldn't be completed for some reason. However it was completed, and for the most part I am doing pretty well. As you all have mentioned too, I am mostly sore at the port incision site. I have 6 incisions total, and the others are not too much pain. I slept fairly well, on my back or right side. We have two cats who like to snuggle, so I have to keep them away from my midsection. They know something is up though cause they are extra lovey right now. Ha ha. Hope to hear more from all of you soon!! Oh and I agree, really NOT hungry, how bizarre is that!?! Ha ha.

Hi to all us bandsters. I had my surgery on Thursday, may 22nd. At home recovering, doing pretty well. Mostly only sore at the port site. I was nervous my surgery wouldn't be completed for some reason (the whole liver not shriking enough) but am happy I am through that part. Recovery I can handle! good luck to all!!

So with the nailpolish thing, they actually gave us an explanation on that. If people don't wear light enough nail polish, the oxygen sensor can't get a very good reading on your finger, so they just tell people no nail polish. Our nurse consult did say it was okay to have acrylic nails, just to have them as clear or french manicure. Go figure! I am so glad this day is about 1/2 over. Can't wait for tomorrow...

Tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day. I'm kind of an idiot I think. I'm working, because I thought it would help me get things wrapped up and keep my mind off of what's happening tomorrow, but it's not! Not at all. Go figure. Good luck to everyone for tomorrow!!

Thinking of you Marine. Update us and let you know how you are doing. Best of luck, good thoughts, and prayers going with you. I am going on Thursday, so right behind you!

Carrie C-I don't have to use an antiseptic, but do have to wash with antibacterial soap the day of surgery. I'm sure it's related?!? To prevent infection in your incision areas I imagine. But just guessing that's what it's for. I'm not super excited about it because its soo drying and i can't use lotion afterwards. LAME. Can't believe, we're almost there!!
-
Look at how many wonderful people are all getting banded in May. How can we not be excited for ourselves and our fellow May bandsters!!
-
Okay May 22nd-ers. Only 3 days left, how is everyone doing?!? I had a few breakdowns over the weekend, think I was dealing with my stress very well, so a crying jag apparently helped. I'm feeling a lot better right now, but am getting super nervous and super excited. It's actually okay that I can't eat anything right now...because I'm not HUNGRY at all. WEIRD! Ha ha. Happy Band Date-Soon to be.

Doing better today. Yes I've been taking my proteins, my vitamins, and all my clear liquids. I keep telling myself it is temporary. I've already lost 3 lbs, so that's exciting. Can't imagine where I'll be next week by the time surgery rolls around! Happy Friday May Bandsters!!
-
The all liquid diet is not going well for me fellow May Bandsters. I am having a really hard time with it, super low energy. *Sigh* Anyone with some pick me ups to help keep me motivated would be greatly appreciated. One week from today I'll be in the hospital, so exciting!!! Happy one week to us May 22nd folks!

Only 8 more days (well really 7 right) until surgery time. Hope everyone is as excited/nervous/excited again as I am. I feel like it's hard to focus on anything else I am doing. YUCK. Only one more week of liquids.
