Kammi and Sydney, you're getting banded on my 30th birthday (5 days after my own band). I'll be thinking of you..
-
Hi Seattle. My surgery is with Dr. Oh also!!! The EGD isn't too bad, seems more nerve wracking than it actually ended up being. I played soccer the two days after mine, which wasn't the greatest thing ever, but turned out okay. I can't wait either!! Looks like a lot of people here from the NW region, awesome. I'm glad we all get to be May Flowers together. Having trouble getting enough water in these days *Sigh* working on that.... Happy Friday everyone.
-
Congrats! I'm the same day as you. I think my liquid diet starts just after yours, but pretty much we're in the same boat!
-
Yeah, another 22nd B-dayer, apparently we have quite a few of us (of course)! Erica/Kammi-I'm also in the Seattle area, lots of local fans here. Well technically I'm living in Puyallup, work in Seattle, and my surgery is in Federal Way! Ha ha, yes it's true, I travel around Puget Sound too much.

43 days until surgery date here. That's just over a month, I'm so excited. I had a pre-opp appointment today at the hospital: EKG, CardioPulmonary, Bloodwork, Urine Sample, Abdominal Ultrasound and a chest X-ray. All that on an empty stomach. Rough time that was. First time I've ever almost passed out after a blood draw. I was starving when I left, that was for sure. Hope everyone is doing great!!
-
Oh yeah, did I mention that I gained 6 lbs back?!? That sucks, working hard to get that back off hopefully quick!

Hi everyone- I just returned from a week vacation in palm springs. Ate too much food (surprise), but am back on track now that I'm back in the "real world" as they call it. Ha ha. Looking forward to May 22nd for certain now. First pre-op appointments are this wednesday for blood work, ekg, ultrasound, etc. To all-glad it went well with telling your mom/parents. My mom knows, her main concern was whether or not I'd be able to have grandkids for her still. Ha ha. silly lady. I'm so glad to have you all here as a support group. It means a lot. People in my life support me, but I worry they get sick of listening, do you know what I mean?!?
-
I think someone may have added me already while I was out, I'm may 22nd also! Can't wait. Glad to have all of us on the same journey... Jaime

Too excited to not share. I got the call from insurance today and was approved, yes!! Called doctor's office after lunch and she scheduled me as the next available... May 22nd. 5 days before I turn 30. I am too excited for words!!:tongue:

Welcome on board Jessica! That's the day before my actual birthday, and 4 days after my band date. Ha ha. I love the fact that some of you have tickers until band date, so I can keep track of mine too!!

Hi everyone. My name is Jaime. I'm 29 years old and currently reside in Puyallup, WA (a suburb about 45 minutes south of Seattle). My surgery is scheduled for May 22, 2008. I will turn 30 on May 27 and am very excited about having these two huge things coincide during the same time period for me. I am currently "married" to my domestic partner, who is very supportive of me in every way and is excited for me to begin my journey as well. We have two cats, Lucky and LuLu (brother and sister) who like to tear up my house. I am an Aunt to 2 nieces and 1 nephew with another unknown gender due 10/08/08. I am looking forward most to being able to do all the activities that I enjoy, but hopefully without less pain and breathing issues. My highest weight was 315 that I remember and the lowest in my memory is 215. I was 5'11 3/4" most of my life, until a car accident almost two years ago, and I now measure in at 5'9.5" (I didn't even realize I had shrunk until pre-surgery stuff). My BMI is approximately 44-46. I have developed asthma in the last 3 months, and found out that I have a hiatal hernia and Barrett's Esophagus. I am an avid soccer player, also enjoy hiking, swimming, and riding my bike. Soccer has become more difficult as I've gotten heavier and the pain in knees/ankles/back doesn't help make me a better player. I'm looking forward to easier running! Enough about me, looking forward to getting to know more about my "May TEAM" Ha ha.

You ladies are so cute with all the logs for us. I like them all so far. I like the idea of associating our picture with our logo, great idea. So far I haven't seen any guys in our group, anyone?!? Maybe it won't matter if we're may flowers if no guys join our group! Ha ha.

Hi everyone! I just got my date today and I'm officially a May bandster also. My date is 5/22/08, 5 days before I turn 30. What a great gift to give myself, right? Better health. Here's to us!!

Hi everyone, just wanted to post to say that FINALLY my doctor's office got everything submitted to insurance today. I called my RN case manager at Empire BCBS and she confirmed that she had the fax of all documentation in hand. Hoping to hear by Wednesday on whether or not I'm approved from insurance. I think that I will be, but figured everyone's good thoughts could not hurt. Will keep everyone posted! PS-My doctor, Dr. Oh in Federal Way, WA, apparently is super busy and understaffed (which most of you probably know by now). If you are waiting on paperwork follow up with the girls in the office, they know they have a lot to handle and if you're nice they will reciprocate.
-
Hi Rainbow-depends on the doctor you use and who your insurance is. I have empire BCBS and basically had to complete two pre-auth appointments (nutritionist and psych eval), then they sent my paperwork over from Dr's office yesterday, got approval today. Also got a surgery date---05/22/08. That's five days before I turn 30!! KatsenD-If you see this anytime soon, see my date up above!!
-
That would be awesome KatsenD. I'm aiming for end of April, but any date would be fine at this point. I'm too excited to even work right now.
-
Just got the call from my case manager at BCBS, love her love her. I am approved by insurance!!!! Now I'll be anxiously awaiting to hear from my doctors office. Not much longer, not much longer...... Okay I'm too excited right now!!!

Congratulations! I am very excited for you. I too am also going with Dr. Oh, but my surgery is tentatively set for mid-April. I think I will be feeling the same way that you are, so no surprise there! How long have you been counting down (i.e. when was your initial consult until now)?!? I'm having trouble getting Dr. Oh's office to get all my paperwork together to have them submit to insurance, but hopefully that will be done this week!! Good Luck, keep us posted!! -

Pregnant after Band..
miles2empty replied to lucy200283's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it depends on you and what the doctor says. I know my doctor says typically that you have to wait at least two years after any weight loss surgery before getting pregnant. My friend had gastric bypass, waited 3 years, she said she's glad she waited that long. Good Luck!
