Have you had a leak in your port/tubing and had to have it replaced?
miles2empty replied to DrewsLou's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
SLOW LEAK So I had an x-ray done today to determine where my leak might be, the radiology doctor could not see the leak which he said means I have a slow leak. I go back to see Dr. Oh on 10/16 and find out what he has to say. Does anyone have any experience with a "slow leak" and what they might have to do to fix that, is it just a whole new band or what not? I am not thrilled about having to have my band re-done, but if so I need to have it done before I lose insurance at the end of December. Sigh... On a side note, it was cool to see my band/port on the x-ray today. Now I know what it looks like at least! -
Weigh in... how much have u lost?

Hi everyone- I'm with Terri actually. I was banded on 5/22, and have gained 8 lbs since then. Doc told me to expect it, from all the surgery stuff and from recovering and what not. Not too worried about it. Went for my first 1 mile walk yesterday, that felt really good (well first 1 mile post surgery anyway, before surgery I was playing soccer 4x a week, ha ha). recovery is going well, now am ready to see some lbs drop off! best of luck to everone!! -
Congratulations to all of us May 22nd bandsters. We are doing awesome. I am home recovering, was completely scared that my surgery wouldn't be completed for some reason. However it was completed, and for the most part I am doing pretty well. As you all have mentioned too, I am mostly sore at the port incision site. I have 6 incisions total, and the others are not too much pain. I slept fairly well, on my back or right side. We have two cats who like to snuggle, so I have to keep them away from my midsection. They know something is up though cause they are extra lovey right now. Ha ha. Hope to hear more from all of you soon!! Oh and I agree, really NOT hungry, how bizarre is that!?! Ha ha.

Hi to all us bandsters. I had my surgery on Thursday, may 22nd. At home recovering, doing pretty well. Mostly only sore at the port site. I was nervous my surgery wouldn't be completed for some reason (the whole liver not shriking enough) but am happy I am through that part. Recovery I can handle! good luck to all!!

So with the nailpolish thing, they actually gave us an explanation on that. If people don't wear light enough nail polish, the oxygen sensor can't get a very good reading on your finger, so they just tell people no nail polish. Our nurse consult did say it was okay to have acrylic nails, just to have them as clear or french manicure. Go figure! I am so glad this day is about 1/2 over. Can't wait for tomorrow...

Tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day. I'm kind of an idiot I think. I'm working, because I thought it would help me get things wrapped up and keep my mind off of what's happening tomorrow, but it's not! Not at all. Go figure. Good luck to everyone for tomorrow!!
-
Thinking of you Marine. Update us and let you know how you are doing. Best of luck, good thoughts, and prayers going with you. I am going on Thursday, so right behind you!

Carrie C-I don't have to use an antiseptic, but do have to wash with antibacterial soap the day of surgery. I'm sure it's related?!? To prevent infection in your incision areas I imagine. But just guessing that's what it's for. I'm not super excited about it because its soo drying and i can't use lotion afterwards. LAME. Can't believe, we're almost there!!
-
Look at how many wonderful people are all getting banded in May. How can we not be excited for ourselves and our fellow May bandsters!!
-
Okay May 22nd-ers. Only 3 days left, how is everyone doing?!? I had a few breakdowns over the weekend, think I was dealing with my stress very well, so a crying jag apparently helped. I'm feeling a lot better right now, but am getting super nervous and super excited. It's actually okay that I can't eat anything right now...because I'm not HUNGRY at all. WEIRD! Ha ha. Happy Band Date-Soon to be.
-
Doing better today. Yes I've been taking my proteins, my vitamins, and all my clear liquids. I keep telling myself it is temporary. I've already lost 3 lbs, so that's exciting. Can't imagine where I'll be next week by the time surgery rolls around! Happy Friday May Bandsters!!
-
The all liquid diet is not going well for me fellow May Bandsters. I am having a really hard time with it, super low energy. *Sigh* Anyone with some pick me ups to help keep me motivated would be greatly appreciated. One week from today I'll be in the hospital, so exciting!!! Happy one week to us May 22nd folks!
-
Only 8 more days (well really 7 right) until surgery time. Hope everyone is as excited/nervous/excited again as I am. I feel like it's hard to focus on anything else I am doing. YUCK. Only one more week of liquids.
-
I'm on day 5 of liquid diet, I have to confess I had cheated three times over the weekend (all just protein like you sshaw), but surgeon of course reminded me yesterday that if he opens me and my liver hasn't shrunk he won't do anything. *sigh* so I'm trying VERY hard to stick with it. It's not too bad, but really, I don't think I ever paid attention to food commercials so much before. Hoping this is just one more thing that reminds me why I'm doing this, addiction to food much you think?!? Ha ha. Of course I didn't think it was that way until I couldn't have any. 9 days to go...I get to check in at 8am on the 22nd, hopefully that means surgery sometime in the few hours afterwards. Trying to get work all caught up before I leave for two weeks!
-
Hello my fellow May 22nd bandsters. Update for you all. I'm finishing up day 1 of the liquid diet, have managed to keep my hunger under control so that's good. However, worst headache ever right now, that will hopefully go away. I got my final clearance from the internist on Monday, so exciting, but at the same time found out that I have a 1cm kidney stone. NOT EXCITING. He said it's fine for now, told me what signs to watch out for when it becomes blocking, but hey, can still have surgery. Hope you are all doing well!!
-
Only 15 more days to go. Well technically like 14 right...?
-
I'm on board with all of you. I have been UBER stressed lately, but not outwardly feeling it if that makes sense. I'm more snappy than ever, can't sleep, feel overly emotional, etc. I start my liquid diet on Friday epm316, so I'm right with you. Let me know how it goes for you, I'm worried the stressy reactions above will just get worse! Ha ha, only 2 weeks and I'll be in surgery, holy cow where did the time go!!
-
Okay bandsters, only 27 days left until surgery. How is everyone holding up?!? I kind of feel like i'm in that last supper phase, although I haven't been eating TOO much, just craving the BAD food. I leave for Vegas on May 1st to celebrate (early) my 30th birthday, so that will be my last party weekend so to speak. Come back on the 5th for the nutrition class, start liquid diet on the 8th. UGH! Hope you are all doing great!!
-
Congrats on both things. What an exciting journey you are embarking on, on two fronts!
-
Yes for May 22nd, go team!!
-
One month until surgery date. Just dawned on me, although I've been up for more than a few hours at this point. Next appointment is May 5th, and then May 12th and then I'm in the home stretch. Oh my gosh Maysters, I am too excited for words!!!! Jaime
-
Yes, I can't wait for May 22nd to be here already. The last few days I've been craving fast food a lot (random, haven't had it in awhile), and its like mega willpower not to have any. Oh well, this too shall pass, right?!?
-
ditto to marineliebe and bandfan1 I am with you on all of your goals too. Yes I know from my face that you can't tell. In fact people that know me never believe me when I tell them my weight. I am 5' 9 1/2" and weigh 300 as of this morning. I am very active though and I think my weight is distributed pretty well which helps with how people perceive me, but trust me, at 300 lbs, I KNOW the difference!! Ha ha. I'm glad we all have each other for support!!

Mondays, not my favorite day by any means. But today I just realized, only 1 month and 1 week until my band date! YES YES YES! That makes this monday not as bad, and the other ones coming up are just one step closer to my goal. Is anyone starting their liquid diets yet?!?
