    Skinny

I never looked at it in terms of skinny as much as I did "healthy." The excess weight I was carrying was already taking it's toll on my body and something needed to be done before too much damage had occurred. Already with my 50 lb weight loss I can tell an immense difference in my energy, my work out ability, new clothes, drop in BP, and hopefully an A1C that is under 6.
  2. Glad to hear it and here's to a speedy recovery!

    Today is the day!

    Best of luck!
  4. I also followed the pre-op diet as far as preparation. No real changes around the house other than adding a couple extra pillows to the bed. Oh, I did stock up on fluids, broth, and liquid Protein for the 1 wk post op diet and made sure I had my Vitamins ready to start after coming home from surgery.
  5. @@Cervidae I also had a 6 month wait between my initial meeting and my surgery. In that time I had to complete a 13-wk fitness program (3x wkly for 30 mins ea). Once that was completed I could get my EGD, EKG, pre-op labs, etc. It was a long journey but pretty par for the course from my understanding. @@RNY-Gal you are moving along nicely. Stick with it, jump through the proverbial hoops and you'll have your date before you know it.

    Fit to Fat to Fit.

I didn't get a good vibe from the previews. Glad I never started watching it.
  7. I bet that's an awesome feeling. Can't wait unto my BMI gets below 35

anyone feel like they need restapling

For the sake of clarity: do you mean having your RNY performed again to make the stomach smaller again? Presuming you are wondering on the basis of stretching?

    popcorn for a snack

Popcorn is fine as long as you are keeping track of the amount. My nutritionist advised the big problem with popcorn is its not filling. So, you end up eating way more than you should before you even realize it.

    Calories Post Op

Many nutritionists will not focus on calories in the first several months. Why? You should be focusing on the amount of each serving (1/4 cup, 1/2 cup, etc). The emphasis should be to get your protein and fluids in. Don't fixate on calories especially if you weren't given a specific number. Stick to your nutritionists plan for you.
  11. What was your starting weight and when was your surgery date. Like @@kayjay14 posted you will lose the greatest amount the months to 1 year following surgery. The greater your weight the more you will lose per day. Typical weight loss is 1/3 to 1/2 lb per day in the first few mos post op.

    The dreaded stall

When in doubt, go back to basics. Measure out everything you eat, get in all required Protein, and make sure you're getting plenty of fluids. Outside of that you can change up your exercise routine or add additional workouts per week.

    Calories Post Op

As long as you are following the plan set forth by your nutritionist you'll be fine. Two primary goals: Protein and Water. As long as you are getting those two in daily you are a two steps ahead of the rest. Remember this: ANYONE can post ANYTHING to YouTube and/or the internet. Stay the course set forth by your surgical team and you're golden.

Going off at a tangent! Grrrrrrrrr!

@@ACV, if you add a post like "bump" to a dead thread it will revive It in the New Content section.
  15. I'd recommend the Breeze 2 primarily because it uses reloadable discs rather than individual strips. The disc has 10 strips pre-packaged and the pull of the handle reloads for the next check. No worry that if you open the bottle you're playing the proverbial "52 card pickup."

    Pain meds

Most surgeons will send you home on some form of Hydrocodone or Oxydodone (liquid). During my post op stay my surgeon had me on IV acetaminophen drips q6 hrs which helped IMMENSLY.

    Day 4....rough

I used the pre-op diet as time to help remind myself that hunger was in my head. Before you know it you'll be at your surgery date and onto the next phase.

    February 15th

That's excellent news. This forum is another tool full of valuable information, experience, and support. Good luck with the surgery and here's to a speedy recovery.

So is sip, sip, sip forever?

I don't miss the days of having to sip 1 oz of Water no faster than every 15 mins. I can drink normal now, but chugging is not likely to happen.

    dental problems post-op?

The other people who may talk about teeth problems are those who perpetually vomit. Digestive acids are not kind on enamel and dentation.

    30 Days Post Op

Protein and Water are your primary goals. Protein effects every part of the body and can slow your healing/recovery. There are several options out there for lactose free whey protein. Isopure makes a good product. GNC also sells a lactose free whey called About Time.

    Post Op RNY

Download the Bariatric Pal app....it's much easier to use than going through TT. Congrats on the decision and welcome!

    SAY GOODBYE NOW!

Interestingly enough, my closet has several clothes that used to be 1-2 sizes too small. Now, those clothes are starting to fit. Due to not having an expansive wardrobe of the biggest sizes I'll wait to purge my closet until my save clothes no longer fit me.

    30 Days Post Op

My first suspicion would be Protein insufficiency. How many grams are you intaking per day? Do your Vitamins have Iron, thiamin, B12, and folate?

    Day 4....rough

Sounds like your body is in the normal process of adjusting to the diet. How long of a pre-op diet do you have?
