The Protein i use is called whey GOURMET.. i dunno if its in the US, but i know its in Canada.. and its like dessert. It really is. Its literally like eating an ice cream shake if you blend it up with lotsa ice and whatever else you liek to add to yuor shakes. Ive been drinking them every day since i finished my clear Fluid stage.. and its almost likea treat and sometimes i feel like im cheating myself. Aside from the protein part.. take a look at my profile and see the pics ive posted of my stomach. I have no shame LOL i put pics of my post of belly the hours after surgery and again 4 days later, and i should post now.. cause my belly is FLAT. ive deflated completly , and even concaved a bit LOL. and my scars... 2 you cant even really see unless i point them out.. and the other 3 look like tiny red cracks.. very thin lines. I felt horrible when i first got home.. the gas pain around my ribs and my back sucked so badly for about a week... but now im back to be able to cartwheel no problem now if only id lose more weight life would be grand  ill post more pisc for everybody to check out if you are interested.
  4. I am pretty sure bandster hell is when you have no restriction and need to go forward using just your willpower... which yes, is what we are doing now LOL with my last band there was no bandster hell cause its was a tiny band and there was always a medium restriction atthe very least. losing the weight with that band, at the beginning before complications, was very easy. effortless. what "LBNDOC" said may be right. im used to eating like 8000 calories a day sometimes. we could just be in starvation mode... we could be adjusting back to the solid food diet. who knows. im just hoping it passes sooner or later. im thinking of going on clear fluids again for two days just to kick my body into gear... see if that works. i know the body needs a metabolism jolt every once in a while. its frustrating being in this position isnt it? but then again, we are just simply impatient LOL
  5. yes i must just be impatient its been about 10 years and 5 monthes.... when you actually HAVE the surgery and you WILL have questions.. remind me to speak to you the same way.
  6. Hey all! I havent posted on here much since i had my surgery... have a few things to deal with Other then that.. Im 18 days post op , healed fine, mobile, back on normal food etc. So heres my conundrum... ive lost 21 lbs total. Pretty good so far but most Water weight since my clothing size is still the exact same but my puffyness is all gone. This is how i work my day ( this is for all y'all that will tell me its just a tool and i need to drink 50000 glasses of water and exercise etc etc.. which i already know... ) -I DO drink a lot every day. water is my favourite beverage and is pretty much all ive ever drank for my lifes entirity. - I count my calories, and intake no salt, no sugar, minimal carbs, and as much Protein as I can. _ I walk. I was told i am NOT allowed to exercise vigerously ( go back to the gym) untill 6 weeks post op. After all i had a hernia repaired as well and am prone to mishaps. - I eat a MAX of 1000 calories per day. and im not weak. - i tryu to space out my food throughout the day. - ive omitted all/most things processed ( tried to.. its hard these days) -im paying a lot of attention to work and hobbies etc - im training my mind to know the difference between wanting to eat and being hungry. and diverting cravings. being a food addict is like any other addiction and its hard to break. so. i think this is a pertty good program and im enjoying it. im not starving, im happier so far... i dont look like a swollen bloated mess anymore... so why arent i losing any weight? how can a person live on 1000 calories ( usually less) per day.. and be mobile.. and work etc etc and not lose weight? i know this has nothing to do with restriction.. cause no matter if i have any restriction or not.. im still eating significantly less then the average person. and a LOT healthier then i ever have before. experiences and feedback would be much appreciated... and yes.. again, i know its a tool and i know i have to move and make wise choices LOL thanks everybody

post op... the first few weeks

these are pics of my body after surgery. there is no graphic nudity and i hope nobody objects to these photos. they are good pics for people to see how MINIMAL this surgery really is.
  8. thanks for all the responses. i very much appreciate it! my surgeon gave me nothing. no breathing apparatus, nothing to hold like the pillow/bear... hell he barely even spoke to me. i know what gas pain feels like, and i think im alarmed because of how different this is. it feels like ive been stabbed in the ribs on one side. like a sharp stitching pain when i breath in. ive been walking around.. i dont have pain in my shoulders or back anymore , but i did the first 3 days... guess ill see how the rib thing feels tomorrow.
  9. im 4 days out.... had a hernia on my diaphragm repaired...as well as had the band placed. today i feel worse then ive felt any other day. every time i breathe...i feel this crazy pressure and pain all round my ribcage... more intense on my right side about 7 inches under my right armpit. ive been doing the "coughing" exercises that they told me to do after lap surgery to help condition the lungs and eliminate CO2... but these exercises seem they would be harmful to the hernia repair.. as most hernia websites say not to irritate the area repaired. my clinic is the fast food chain of lapband surgery and doesnt have the best patient care. i cant get a hold of anybody and im starting to panic and get crazy anxiety. its a painful struggle every time i take a breath. i wanna know if anybody has any thoughts on this.. is it gas ? is it swelling thats magically just come about 4 days post op? is it a bad sign? most of all... DID ANYBODY ELSE HAVE THIS??? i cant imagine how some people go back to work after 5 days. as this pain is such a hinderance and even makes swallowing my clear fluids painful... like im swallowing a huge lump thats pushing me from the inside out... when really its just a sip of Water. advice , stories, please, anything!

    the day before.

These pics are taken the day before surgery and the day OF surgery. warning. most arent too pretty
  11. i disagree, he is not giving her facts. he is giving her his account. his personal experience is not facts. saying a fill wont trigger weight loss is BS. i lost 50lbs with NO fill and another 30 with ONE fill. the post was great advice ... wonderful advice.. words to live by even, but the first line was kinda crushing and harsh, and NOT factual. we are all different. the guys on this line seem to be way more ...abrasive... then most women.. funny its mostly newly banded men. SWAN... it may be just the thing you need to kick start, it may be the only fill you need.. on the other hand it may not. take it one day at a time and in stride .. and most of all, dont base your progress on other people and what they say :w00t:
  12. hey i know how you feel! myself having the original, first model band, i am either too tight and cant swsallow my own saliva, or i can wolf down anything i see and in unlimited quantities! i just very surprised that you have a newer model and you are having the same issues! Its amazing how different everybody is! If i have this surgery again and only lose 20-40lbs frmo the post op diet... i dunno what ill do. I turned down bypass acceptance from a 5 year waiting list, to be rebanded with the new model 10 cc band. im starting to feel like i am making the wrong choice... :tt1:
  13. from the operation till your first fill, did yuo not have a post op diet to follow? i remember i lost about 50 lbs in the first 2 monthes after my initial surgery date due to the fact i could only have liquids, then mush, then soft foods for 2 week intervals at each time. has the program changed ? Did anybody else lose next to no weight at all between their surgery date and their first fill????
  14. Hey there Teacher! sorry i cant change that info on the bottom of my posts. I was banded in 2001! I got to 210 then gained back up to 275 which is where i am now! Im being REBANDED in january. The band i had in 2001 made me the first minor to ever be banded at the time and it only holds a fill up to 2 CC. its useless and has caused my nothing but problems over the past 7 years... it worked great at the beginning, with no fill.. and thats when i lost all the weight.. but as soon as my body adjusted to it and i needed to get fills, the problems started. My band is either loose and useless, or so tight i cant swallow my own saliva. So im getting banded with a 10CC band in a new position by a new surgeon ( who still has his lisence, thank god). So my stats were 320 -210-275 Im going into the procedure with a new outlook... i was very young in 2001... im still yuong now, but back then i did the procedure against my will, my family forced me into it and i was never that commited to it. Now im in family mode and pro life.. and I want a band that works the way it supposed to. I do haev bad habits, i dont exercise and i only eat once a day ( due to my horrible work schedule) ... i never even really reasearched the band a lot untill just recently and seeing that people didnt lose much weight terrified me. To answer questions from other posts.. my surgeon in toronto does NOT do other surgeries, just the band.. and the waiting list for a RnY in Toronto is about 5 years and my BMI is not high enough for it supposedly. who knows. that is what i was told when i inquired. Plus people with certain medical issues like me ( lupus, panic disorder) arent supposed to get RnY's because of the way the duodenum is bypassed and the medication absorption rate is altered. so there ya have it lol In my mind, im benig banded for the first time. The last 9 years have been a blur of pain, frustration and serious weight downs and ups. Im excited,, and have high hopes.. but if the 10CC band really is for people who can easily lose 30 lbs on their OWN.. then i cant be optimistic. if i could lose 30lbs on my own id just do that 3 times over LOL
  15. Im being banded on Jan 18th. I was looknig through millions of profiles and photos on here.. and a trend im seeing, is people who have only lost between 20-30 lbs in a YEAR or more after being banded! Is this a normal trend? Is there something these people are doing to hinder the effectivness of the band? Im wary about surgery ( since im terrified of anesthetic) if the average weight loss is only about 30lbs over a whole year. I can gain 30lbs in a week if i tried hard enough LOL it seems like its not very much at all. Im getting the pre surgery jitters and havnig the standard second thoughts... but seeing these pictures and profiles has shocked me..... I was told by my doctor that older patients usually lose weight slower, or less weight in total... whereas younger patients seem to melt before his eyes... and i have seen some young ladies on here who look like super svelte supermodels and find it hard to believe they were ever heavy at all let alone obese! Im 27 right before my surgery... and am now starting to wonder if all this stress will be worth it if 30 lbs is where people generally seem to stop losing. Stories and suggestion please :rolleyes2:
