18 days post op... plateau already!!!
Acerbia posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey all! I havent posted on here much since i had my surgery... have a few things to deal with Other then that.. Im 18 days post op , healed fine, mobile, back on normal food etc. So heres my conundrum... ive lost 21 lbs total. Pretty good so far but most Water weight since my clothing size is still the exact same but my puffyness is all gone. This is how i work my day ( this is for all y'all that will tell me its just a tool and i need to drink 50000 glasses of water and exercise etc etc.. which i already know... ) -I DO drink a lot every day. water is my favourite beverage and is pretty much all ive ever drank for my lifes entirity. - I count my calories, and intake no salt, no sugar, minimal carbs, and as much Protein as I can. _ I walk. I was told i am NOT allowed to exercise vigerously ( go back to the gym) untill 6 weeks post op. After all i had a hernia repaired as well and am prone to mishaps. - I eat a MAX of 1000 calories per day. and im not weak. - i tryu to space out my food throughout the day. - ive omitted all/most things processed ( tried to.. its hard these days) -im paying a lot of attention to work and hobbies etc - im training my mind to know the difference between wanting to eat and being hungry. and diverting cravings. being a food addict is like any other addiction and its hard to break. so. i think this is a pertty good program and im enjoying it. im not starving, im happier so far... i dont look like a swollen bloated mess anymore... so why arent i losing any weight? how can a person live on 1000 calories ( usually less) per day.. and be mobile.. and work etc etc and not lose weight? i know this has nothing to do with restriction.. cause no matter if i have any restriction or not.. im still eating significantly less then the average person. and a LOT healthier then i ever have before. experiences and feedback would be much appreciated... and yes.. again, i know its a tool and i know i have to move and make wise choices LOL thanks everybody -

who said anybody was stupid? surely not me. I dont feel that way at all. I come here for support... and nice respectful answers to my questions. not judgement , cruelty, snarkiness, spite, holier then thou attitude, insults, assumptions... or anything of the sort.... and ive had quite enough of that so far... thats all, thread done -
The Protein i use is called whey GOURMET.. i dunno if its in the US, but i know its in Canada.. and its like dessert. It really is. Its literally like eating an ice cream shake if you blend it up with lotsa ice and whatever else you liek to add to yuor shakes. Ive been drinking them every day since i finished my clear Fluid stage.. and its almost likea treat and sometimes i feel like im cheating myself. Aside from the protein part.. take a look at my profile and see the pics ive posted of my stomach. I have no shame LOL i put pics of my post of belly the hours after surgery and again 4 days later, and i should post now.. cause my belly is FLAT. ive deflated completly , and even concaved a bit LOL. and my scars... 2 you cant even really see unless i point them out.. and the other 3 look like tiny red cracks.. very thin lines. I felt horrible when i first got home.. the gas pain around my ribs and my back sucked so badly for about a week... but now im back to be able to cartwheel no problem now if only id lose more weight life would be grand  ill post more pisc for everybody to check out if you are interested.

I am pretty sure bandster hell is when you have no restriction and need to go forward using just your willpower... which yes, is what we are doing now LOL with my last band there was no bandster hell cause its was a tiny band and there was always a medium restriction atthe very least. losing the weight with that band, at the beginning before complications, was very easy. effortless. what "LBNDOC" said may be right. im used to eating like 8000 calories a day sometimes. we could just be in starvation mode... we could be adjusting back to the solid food diet. who knows. im just hoping it passes sooner or later. im thinking of going on clear fluids again for two days just to kick my body into gear... see if that works. i know the body needs a metabolism jolt every once in a while. its frustrating being in this position isnt it? but then again, we are just simply impatient LOL -

Pppl banded but not losing much weight!?! why?!
Acerbia posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im being banded on Jan 18th. I was looknig through millions of profiles and photos on here.. and a trend im seeing, is people who have only lost between 20-30 lbs in a YEAR or more after being banded! Is this a normal trend? Is there something these people are doing to hinder the effectivness of the band? Im wary about surgery ( since im terrified of anesthetic) if the average weight loss is only about 30lbs over a whole year. I can gain 30lbs in a week if i tried hard enough LOL it seems like its not very much at all. Im getting the pre surgery jitters and havnig the standard second thoughts... but seeing these pictures and profiles has shocked me..... I was told by my doctor that older patients usually lose weight slower, or less weight in total... whereas younger patients seem to melt before his eyes... and i have seen some young ladies on here who look like super svelte supermodels and find it hard to believe they were ever heavy at all let alone obese! Im 27 right before my surgery... and am now starting to wonder if all this stress will be worth it if 30 lbs is where people generally seem to stop losing. Stories and suggestion please :rolleyes2: -

im 4 days out.... had a hernia on my diaphragm repaired...as well as had the band placed. today i feel worse then ive felt any other day. every time i breathe...i feel this crazy pressure and pain all round my ribcage... more intense on my right side about 7 inches under my right armpit. ive been doing the "coughing" exercises that they told me to do after lap surgery to help condition the lungs and eliminate CO2... but these exercises seem they would be harmful to the hernia repair.. as most hernia websites say not to irritate the area repaired. my clinic is the fast food chain of lapband surgery and doesnt have the best patient care. i cant get a hold of anybody and im starting to panic and get crazy anxiety. its a painful struggle every time i take a breath. i wanna know if anybody has any thoughts on this.. is it gas ? is it swelling thats magically just come about 4 days post op? is it a bad sign? most of all... DID ANYBODY ELSE HAVE THIS??? i cant imagine how some people go back to work after 5 days. as this pain is such a hinderance and even makes swallowing my clear fluids painful... like im swallowing a huge lump thats pushing me from the inside out... when really its just a sip of Water. advice , stories, please, anything!

please HELP, 4 days post op
Acerbia replied to Acerbia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks for all the responses. i very much appreciate it! my surgeon gave me nothing. no breathing apparatus, nothing to hold like the pillow/bear... hell he barely even spoke to me. i know what gas pain feels like, and i think im alarmed because of how different this is. it feels like ive been stabbed in the ribs on one side. like a sharp stitching pain when i breath in. ive been walking around.. i dont have pain in my shoulders or back anymore , but i did the first 3 days... guess ill see how the rib thing feels tomorrow. -
trying to be silly before walking into the OR. i burst into tears shortly after this was taken
