  3. i disagree, he is not giving her facts. he is giving her his account. his personal experience is not facts. saying a fill wont trigger weight loss is BS. i lost 50lbs with NO fill and another 30 with ONE fill. the post was great advice ... wonderful advice.. words to live by even, but the first line was kinda crushing and harsh, and NOT factual. we are all different. the guys on this line seem to be way more ...abrasive... then most women.. funny its mostly newly banded men. SWAN... it may be just the thing you need to kick start, it may be the only fill you need.. on the other hand it may not. take it one day at a time and in stride .. and most of all, dont base your progress on other people and what they say :w00t:
  4. hey i know how you feel! myself having the original, first model band, i am either too tight and cant swsallow my own saliva, or i can wolf down anything i see and in unlimited quantities! i just very surprised that you have a newer model and you are having the same issues! Its amazing how different everybody is! If i have this surgery again and only lose 20-40lbs frmo the post op diet... i dunno what ill do. I turned down bypass acceptance from a 5 year waiting list, to be rebanded with the new model 10 cc band. im starting to feel like i am making the wrong choice... :tt1:
  5. from the operation till your first fill, did yuo not have a post op diet to follow? i remember i lost about 50 lbs in the first 2 monthes after my initial surgery date due to the fact i could only have liquids, then mush, then soft foods for 2 week intervals at each time. has the program changed ? Did anybody else lose next to no weight at all between their surgery date and their first fill????
  6. Hey there Teacher! sorry i cant change that info on the bottom of my posts. I was banded in 2001! I got to 210 then gained back up to 275 which is where i am now! Im being REBANDED in january. The band i had in 2001 made me the first minor to ever be banded at the time and it only holds a fill up to 2 CC. its useless and has caused my nothing but problems over the past 7 years... it worked great at the beginning, with no fill.. and thats when i lost all the weight.. but as soon as my body adjusted to it and i needed to get fills, the problems started. My band is either loose and useless, or so tight i cant swallow my own saliva. So im getting banded with a 10CC band in a new position by a new surgeon ( who still has his lisence, thank god). So my stats were 320 -210-275 Im going into the procedure with a new outlook... i was very young in 2001... im still yuong now, but back then i did the procedure against my will, my family forced me into it and i was never that commited to it. Now im in family mode and pro life.. and I want a band that works the way it supposed to. I do haev bad habits, i dont exercise and i only eat once a day ( due to my horrible work schedule) ... i never even really reasearched the band a lot untill just recently and seeing that people didnt lose much weight terrified me. To answer questions from other posts.. my surgeon in toronto does NOT do other surgeries, just the band.. and the waiting list for a RnY in Toronto is about 5 years and my BMI is not high enough for it supposedly. who knows. that is what i was told when i inquired. Plus people with certain medical issues like me ( lupus, panic disorder) arent supposed to get RnY's because of the way the duodenum is bypassed and the medication absorption rate is altered. so there ya have it lol In my mind, im benig banded for the first time. The last 9 years have been a blur of pain, frustration and serious weight downs and ups. Im excited,, and have high hopes.. but if the 10CC band really is for people who can easily lose 30 lbs on their OWN.. then i cant be optimistic. if i could lose 30lbs on my own id just do that 3 times over LOL

    TLBC Bandsters!

it KIND of seems like few people on here.. i stress few.. are looking for ways to bring others down..... looking for flaws in statistics or personal info. i found this a huge issue with the old lap band forum years ago, although at that point i was merely a voyeur... and it was essentially older women attacking younger women... i watched the nasty messages fly between them, and accusations etc for years.... dr joffee told me to just avoid lapband forums completly, cause he had heard they had been causing trouble.. so i did.. for many years!.. untill i felt i needed some advice... i am NOT saying thats what is happening here.. but i hope this does not turn into a place like that last one. all people need support.. there are no reasons to lie, or try and outdo one another..... let alone make snide comments, questions, remarks or anything. we are all on the same journey, hopefully for the same reasons.....there is no reason for jealousy....competition...... or anything of the sort. its been a slice. goodluck to everybody, thank you for the advice you gave to my question, cheers to the lovely ladies i have had more personal and pleasurable conversations with, as well as all others! im quitting here while im a head! byebye

    TLBC Bandsters!

hi lwood! you are curious as to how i grew two inches? well.. most young people grow in height over the course of time! last i checked i am 182 cm......and since i was only an adolescent when i was banded, i was shorter.. i also had smaller feet by nearly 2 full sizes........ women stop growing in their early to mid twenties roughly. hope that answers your question! ( believe me i wish i were shorter... cheers!)

    TLBC Bandsters!

    * in response to a post about one page ago* i said i was the youngest banded person at the time i was banded.. and they made a big deal out of it in toronto.....i guess years ago it was fairly taboo to give wls to an adolescent.

    TLBC Bandsters!

Hey all.. i got banded before there even was a TLBC. seems like a million years ago now, at Scarborough Grace Hospital......By Dr's Y and J.....at the time i was the youngest in canada to ever get the band... and so it was a big hoo haw and i had a film crew and all this fuss made over me with W5 News and such.. and i think that made my experience much more terrifying..... its been many years since i had the surgery and my weightloss has come to a halt.... so im here looking for some advice from everybody who is willing to give it! I have the old style band.. i think its only 5 cc.. im not too sure since i only ever had a fill once and it was quite a few years back. The good doctor put in 1 cc... i hung out for a while.. and then went to hang out with my friends for the weekend..... over the course of a few hours i started feeling not so good.. and by the late night came around, i couldnt even swallow my own saliva.. i wasnt driving at the time... no lisence....so i ended up going to the ER at the local richmond hill hospital.. and they had never seen a patient with a lapband before.... so none of them would take the fill out.. none of them even knew how to do it.. i even showed them the little card i had in my wallet identifying me as a banded person and explaining the procedure etc etc.. but nobody could do it... i went quite a few days being very sick, very dehydrated, and in complete panic, untill monday when i could get to the clinic at Scarborough Grace and Dr J saw me instantly.... and within 3 seconds i had the best release of my life..... a murky looking needle full of 1 cc worth of used saline. i tried getting a fill one time after that.. and the same thing happened.. couldnt swallow. im now at a point in my life where i wanna have a family with my partner.. and would like to be in peak condition for this to happen.. i was ok with my weight loss being at a plateau for a while.. but then started slipping back into pre-band habits... its just too easy to fall backwards after the band becomes a part of your body... and not a huge restriction like it is the first year post-op..... my stats were 5'10 tall 338lbs now im 6'0 tall and 218lbs i wanna be at about 160-170 for my height and stature.... any advice? help? info about the smaller size bands and what i can do to "play nice" with it? sorry for the long windedness of this post but i was just happy to find this forum and have people to talk to about this! nobody up here even knows i had this done years ago! thanks in advance for your responses!
