    NSV shout outs

Here is my NSV. I got my engagement ring out of the safe and it fits.! It has been so long since I have worn it that I forgot how beautiful it was!

    Old Clothes

I am in the same boat. I have clothes size 4 to size 16. (In a 12 2 1/2 post op). The positive is I won't have to buy much until I am in maintenance. Here's is my plan for the too big clothes. I AM donating them. When I get to goal (about a size 6 probably) I plan keep one size bigger for the common regain. So the 8s get to stay. I will still be happy and very healthy at an 8. Everything else goes! I want any regain beyond what is still a healthy range to be as expensive and humiliating as possible. Knowing there are big clothes on standby would just makes it all the easier to go back to unhealthy habits and an unhealthy weight. Surgery is not weight watchers or the rest of the fad diets. The sleeve WILLL work and I am 100% confident in myself and what I have learned this time. The big clothes go.... 16s are already enjoying their new home at good will! Going through the 14s this weekend!
  3. Well my son just turn six and weighs about 47 lbs and I just realized I have lost 50 (pre and post op). I have lost a whole kid! Very symbolic since that pregnancy is when lost the ability to lose weight on diets and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and PCOS. Eventually it spiraled into being morbidly obsessed. I was sleeved 12/14/14.

    FMLA

It should. Remember after your out vacation and sick time FMLA is not paid time off.

    Pizza

I have to say this sounds delicious. I would rather try this than waste calories on a frozen pizza or pizza on a wonton or tortilla.

    Phentermine meds

I think you will find many on this board to have tried Phentermine and eventually we got bariatric surgery because this stuff only ends in failure (along with many other diet plans we tried). What is your goal with this stuff? It is not meant to be a long term med. The minute you stop ALL the weight comes quickly and brings some friends. Of all my epic failures in weight loss this was the most expensive and most disappointing because it was actually dr supervised. It made me very distrustful of any 'weightloss' doctor. If it is a short term thing leading to surgery..... Great. If this is your main weightloss strategy you will eventually be disappointed.
  7. True story ..... I go to my first visit with bariatric surgeon and the nurse just happens to be the old nurse from my pcp's office. She looks baffled and confused. Did Dr. SoAndSo refer you? I said, " No I am a self referral. I didnt see the point talking to her about this." She immediately nodded... She knows what that Dr is like. My asked my pcp of 5 years about my weight concerns for 5 years straight. Always got the same response.... I recommend weight watchers. But I tried Weight watchers twice , Medifast twice, medically supervised program with Phentermine and nothing worked. Bariatric surgery WORKS and I also have a new pcp who is very supportive of bariatric surgery. Get a new pcp, find a great surgeon and take your life back!
  8. Hi.... How did I pick Gastric Sleeve? Because it was what my surgeon recommended. At our first meeting I assumed the band would be what he would recommend but that was not the case. He had done too many band revisions and no longer recommended them. I was BMI of 41with no traditional co-morbidities. I did have PCOS, borderline high cholesterol, joint pain, insulin resistance, and plantar facitis, etc. I assume the surgeon thought bypass was overkill considering my BMI.
  9. I have been lactose intolerant for probably 30 years. I can drink the Isopure zero carb ready to drink from GNC without using lactaid. I like blue raspberry the best. Good luck!

    Nuvaring?

I went back on Nuva ring 2 weeks post op with no issues with weight gain. I am still loosing. Pregnancy soon after is not recommend and Nuva ring has one of the lower hormone levels compared to the pill.

Fat Acceptance Movement - how do you feel?

. You stated perfectly my thoughts as well. Many of us have been fat shamed and it is horrible and unacceptable but pretending obesity is not serious health issue is delusional and even deadly.

    Metformin for PCOS Post-op?

I was sleeved 12/14 and I have PCOS. I stopped my Metformin and Spironolactone (very dehydrating) the day before surgery and never took them again. I chose to continue the Nuva Ring. I have had tubal ligation so Nuva Ring is not for birth control. Your situation is obviously different from mine... I would not take advice on this subject from your surgeon or even a pcp. Only a specialist like obgyn, fertility specialists or the like will know what's best for your fertility. Use back up protection until it is safe to get pregnant and the best of luck to you!

    Skinny

Hi I came from a similar place. I was 5'1' and 213 lbs and, and BMI of 41, and size 16. Someone 5'1 at size 16 is a big person and the BMI proves it. We are morbidly obese and this surgery just may be the tool you need. I had no issues with insurance.... Since my out of pocket max was meet for the year I didn't pay a penny, not even for my rx's. I had surgery (VSG) 12/14/15. 195 day of surgery and now I am 169 at 7 weeks out. I can walk without pain, exercise, life is already more enjoyable. And I am getting excited for summer, enjoying the beach and yes wearing cute clothes. The thought of a swimsuit no longer scares me. That's what this surgery is about taking your health and your life back. Looking great is just the icing on the cake! Best of luck to you!
  15. Hi was sleeved 12/14/15. Beginning weight was 213, day of surgery I was 195 and I am 169 today. I am doing the shakes and focusing on protein. But I have been very happy with the progress so far. Hoping to increase my exercise level in the coming weeks.

    Calories Post Op

Watching this post. I am 7 weeks post op and get between 500 and 700 cal. I want to start exercising more and I am worried I need to work on eating more.....A bizarre thought for somebody who's trying to lose weight. My NUT has me focusing on protein first, vegetables and carbs if I have room. However she is never told me how many calories I really need to work, exercise etc.

    Who am I?

I have hypothyroidism and my doc said she keep a close eye on it because eventually the current dose will be to high as I loose weight. To much thyroid medication possibly. Make sure your pcp checks your levels.
  18. My de advises high quality bariatric vitamins as well. Celebrate, bariatric advantage, etc. I take opurity by Unjury. I like it because it is one a day (most others are 2). When you use bariatric victims it covers it all. No extra vitamin b needed. Only other vitamin you have to take is calcium citrate.

    Anyone drink Shakeology?

Yup that is a deal breaker! Thanks you saved me some time!

    Anyone drink Shakeology?

Following......My sister in law sells it. But I don't want to try it unless it has an ideal protein to carb ratio for post gastric sleeve.

    Travel after WLS

I am almost 6 weeks out and went to a concert and stayed overnight in a hotel. I took a little cooler with protein drinks, cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. However I did find some reasonable options at the restaurants. So used my extras for breakfast and snacks.

    I said "No Way"!

Congrats! Wonderful NSV! You deserve it!
  23. Thanks so much for posting this. I am 6 weeks out and feeling the exact same way. It is shocking how little I can eat. I am glad I am not the only one!
  24. band superior to sleeve? In 2016 very few surgeons would agree. To many don't work as expected, cause complications, are removed, or revised to sleeve or bypass. Many surgeons won't even do them anymore.

You look fantastic in both but I like them styling on the black and white. Shows off your neckline!
