Deviled eggs are a great choice for bariatric patients! You won't have wait till next Easter either!
-
I promise it will get better. I was you at Christmas time. I was sleeved 12/14/15 and couldn't have solids yet. Made a full turkey dinner for my family but ate yogurt for Christmas dinner.! I actually enjoyed my Easter dinner today, in very very small portions. Next holiday you will too! It will be different, portions are smaller and sweets will probably be avoided. With 2 small children I have a house full of candy but with sleeve power I haven't ate it!

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers
ocgirl15 replied to Fatty McFatster's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Praying for a quick and low pain recovery! Veterans is there any link between weight loss surgery and kidney stones? A long time ago a friend lost a bunch of weight on Atkins and his doctor said his Atkins diet caused his kidney stones. We eat high protein after surgery so I am wondering if there is connection? Or maybe calcium supplements? -
Preopper question about Metformin - did you keep taking it?
ocgirl15 replied to McButterpants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I took it for PCOS not diabetes. I stopped the day before surgery and i am still not taking it. With our post op diet it can cause low blood sugar. If you have diabetes I would have a discussion with my pcp. -
I am virtual and my set-up is the same as yours. I took two weeks off but probably could have gone back at one week if I had too. But the healing and and adjusting to the new diet will leave you exhausted. My brain was foggy during recovery. I served my company better by staying away until I was a 100%.

How to deal with work about surgery? LOA? What do I do?!
ocgirl15 replied to kheff13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmm, do you work for a small business or national company? If you work for a larger company I would call your HR department and find out what their policy is. They should be able to assist you and tell you what you need to do to get the time off. Unless this is small family business you are probably covered by FMLA (Family medical leave act). If you are covered you have some job protection. Also this federal law does not care when your boss is taking vacation. I took two weeks off and I have a desk job but I'm also 20 years older than you. Talk to your surgeon, but plan for minimum of 2 weeks. Also tell your boss that estimate is assuming you have no complications and you are healing well. -
All I can say is wow!

My sleeve was ezzy pezzy compared to my 2 c-sections. Plus you don't have any night feedings and can concentrate on just your recovery! I have much less pain and more energy after sleeve! Good luck!

I totally agree with this. My childhood house was over 150 years old and I know of one elderly woman who died of natural causes in the house. Never had an issue and I don't discount afterlife/ supernatural is possible. But would not buy a house where a murder or suicide occurred.

Good luck! You are making a wonderful choice. Choosing your health and happiness. My experience it becomes a positive for the ones you love because your zest for life is back and you can do more and really give more of yourself!

About once a week since I was approved to eat all solids.. Chicken and mixed vegetables. No egg roll or rice. I have lunch leftovers for a couple days at least.

WLS and hypothyroid, PCOS meds
ocgirl15 replied to csawesome's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
csawesome I hope you will be pleasantly surprised after surgery like I was! I have hypothyroidism and PCOS too and have been losing very steady. Before surgery I took Metformin, Spironolactone, nuvaring and synthroid. I stopped the Metformin and Spironolactone the day before surgery and never took them again. Metformin can cause low blood sugar. I would be surprised if your doc wants you to take it if you don't have diabetes. So only med for PCOS now is the nuvaring. It keeps me from having the hormone issues that might you hear some talking about. When I am at goal I will see what happens if I stop it. My pcp is very knowledgeable about bariatric surgery and did mentioned that synthroid might need to be lowered as I loose weight. She told me to come in if start having HYPER thyroid symptoms. So far I feel great. She will check at least once a year unless I tell her I am feeling off. -
Congrats. You look great and I bet you feel even better!

Anyone have dizziness?
ocgirl15 replied to Runner1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 months post op and asked my dr about this today at my visit. My blood pressure is much lower now. They did stress getting Enough liquids. I knew already I was low. Also don't avoid salt. My diet is so much lower in salt so adding a shake to my eggs or having some soup might help. The doc said if that doesn't help the dizziness on standing I need to talk to my pcp about it. -
That is 1500 total (food plus supplements combined)
-
My doc recommend 1500 too but it has to calcium citrate. Calcium carbonate does not absorb well.

iPhone and I am getting pop tart ads!

Mortification in the gym...
ocgirl15 replied to LEILE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agree with con con, don't beat yourself up! It happens to so many of us. My doctor said mine is weight related and I have seen some improvement since VSG. Give the weight loss a chance and see if it improves. My BFF is skinny has the same issue way worse than I do from vaginal birth. Women 19 to 99, obese and skinny are in this one together. The good news is if you get to goal and are still having issues there are medical interventions that can help! In the meantime.... Hello Poise. -
Basically that is what my post op diet is: high protein, reasonable fat ( for example I eat regular cheese, miracle whip and olive oil in moderation) and my only carbs are non starchy veggies and beans. Very few grains or potatoes. Yes it works!

Ok veterans what causes this annoying water nausea? Has anyone's surgeon or NUT provided a scientific explanation? I am 11 weeks post sleeve with few complaints. But why does drinking Plain water turn my stomach? Why does adding crystal light drops make it tolerable? My sleeve is also fine with tea which is mostly water. Finally does it last forever? I would love to kick artificial sweeteners and that can't happen until I can drink plain water.

Telling family?
ocgirl15 replied to billyfromphilly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't tell my parents or my brother. At 43 I don't need permission, they tend to worry a lot so I wanted to save them the stress. Plus my mom already thinks my waistline is open for discussion.... Why add to my stress? My relationship with my parents is long distance but very loving. Their concern for my weight is concern for my health. Next time they see me what a sweet surprise! And worry free for them. My point it is your decision not your spouses decision on who you tell. My husband and only 3 close friends know. My young children have no clue what the operation was about.
