I look small for my weight...
Mrs_O replied to Kgmz0219's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
same boat here. it really stinks to actually be overweight and it starting to cause some other slight issues but to hear people say you "aren't fat enough" to need surgery. i really do think it is a slight jealously there with some people. my mom, hubby and a few other very close family members know but thats it. i don't need your opinions. after it is over with, i don't mind telling anyone because they won't be trying to talk me out of it. if they don't like it or have something nasty to say, i seriously have no problem just cutting them right out of my life. i have a serious problem with food and this looks to be my only option because nothing else has worked. I've done the research and i am ready to let food have way less control!!! -
Newbie here..finally approved and scheduled for surgery on the 25th!
Mrs_O replied to SesaAlegria's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i will get my sleeve on the 27th! i will go for my NUT class and final doc appt this wednesday the 20th and that is also when i will start my one week pre op liquid diet. we are getting SO close!!!! what are you all most nervous about? I am getting myself freaked out about the drain removal (luckily mine is removed the next morning after the surgery) and also i will be on blood thinner shots for a month. I'm sure i will get used to them after a day or so since they are such tiny needles supposedly but it still gives me the willies. -
ha! that is how i feel sometimes too!!! not near your date or going to Mexico but Congrats! I am just over week out and really excited too so i understand how you feel. Im sure you prob already have seen them but if not, check out LaurasVSGtube on youtube. she has weekly videos and also used Dr Ramos Kelly!

I wanna win!!! ???? -
Start pre op liquid diet on Wednesday the 20th and I told Hubby that this weekend don't even bother picking a place to eat or a meal for me to cook at home as we will be having all my favorites! ???????????? no big binges or anything just gotta make sure I get pizza one last time etc because hopefully those bad choices will be gone soon!!! Anyone else find satisfaction in one last hurrah with food? I can't wait to eat a burrito from Moe's! Hopefully I'm not the only one.

Love hearing everyone else experiences! If I had been on the 6 month or more pre op program I prob wouldn't be cheating it but I'm self pay so I don't have the insurance requirements and will just start my pre op liquid on Wednesday. I did notice that I got my regular burrito tonight and couldn't eat it all. Also didn't eat any chips. Weird but great!

I have definitely noticed that when I eat I'm not eating nearly as much as I once was. Am I am starting to notice that times I think man I need a snack that I really am not hungry at all. If I have to eat a couple more meals before starting liquids, I figure it may as well be my favs

You know I keepAsking people what it's like but I honestly never thought to look the symptoms up for myself. As much research as I've done on this sleeve and my brain just didn't even think of that for some reason. I think I'm delirious with excitement for the surgery!!! ????????????

2 weeks until surgery and nervous and excited all at the same time
Mrs_O replied to redemmy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm the 27th and also getting so excited. My youngest is 3.5 and he is huge. Very tall. He still loves for me to pick him up sometimes and LOVES to snuggle so I also have those concerns. Hopefully we will both recover quickly!!!! -
Well I never thought this would happen...
Mrs_O replied to Kspot42's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Think about all the nasty stuff people on the medical Profession see. They all say they aren't bothered by a little period blood. With that said, I prob would have the same questions!!! -
All 4 people that I actually know IRL that have had the sleeve have all had to have their gallbladder removed I keep wondering how I will know if I need mine out after surgery??? Apparently, you just know.

ok sleevers, i am two weeks out from surgery. i will be an outpatient procedure and i will spend the night in a hotel a mile or so from the hospital and go back to see the doc again the next morning before heading back home. question for you all who have already been there, did you sleep ok the first night or have to sleep propped up in a chair instead? I have narrowed it down to 2 hotels and one has and oversized chair with ottoman and one does not. the one without the chair is $50 cheaper though. not trying to be cheap but i am already self pay for this so if i don't need it, why pay extra. if it is definitely the way to go then i don't mind paying the extra at all. ADVISE??? thanks in advance!
-
thanks all. i have nice reclining options once i get home thankfully and i am truly leaning towards that option for the one night hotel stay as well. i don't think it will be quite as comfy to just prop up with more pillows on the bed. as soon as i can get comfortable in my temperpedic again i will be happy!!! if anyone else has any opinions then keep them coming!

my family also goes out to eat quite often and even if we don't, down here in the south ANY family gathering usually revolves around food. luckily for me, i have two children, one still small, and i usually spend a lot of time at the meals feeding, wiping and getting on to my kiddos. people prob won't even notice if i am not eating much. my doc gives us a laminated card stating we are bariatric patients and usually the restaurants accommodate with letting people order off the senior or kids menu etc. i will not hesitate to pull out that bad boy if necessary! i don't care what servers think. I've been there in that job i honestly couldn't tell you what people ordered or how much of it they ate thats for sure! at regular restaurants i can see myself just sharing with hubby or family member but the only place i am worried about it going to a buffet. my oldest sons fav place is golden corral. i may just do their to go option where the food is priced on weight!

Thanks y'all! I am waiting on my syntax nectar samples to come in. I ordered them last week! I hope my tastes don't change too much after surgery but if they do these ideas will at least get me through my pre-op diet! Most of the "smoothie" textures I am not a fan of cause hey are too thick. Yuck. I have already been drinking skim milk for years so I am not used to that full fat whole Milk smoothie texture.

Best way I have found to make coffee
Mrs_O replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
fixing to start pre-op diet and we are allowed unsweetened or artificially sweetened decaf coffee or tea. never really been one to drink coffee for the caffeine rush. just drink it mostly for the taste. my new fav is decaf black coffee with the sugar free caramel macchiato creamer!!!! yum -
Blood clotting disorders and the sleeve ? and Vitamins
Mrs_O replied to TiffanyLM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not a problem at all. Preop, that's how we prepare. For plates, I will admit it's a mind game. Sometimes the smaller plates help. When using a regular size plate at first, it is sometimes hard to mentally accept, 'that's all I can hold' and you may be more likely to try to overeat, because you'll try to fill the empty space. Most surgeons say do not use straws. The reason is it can cause stretching or simply air buildup in the tummy (think about it - you suck a bit before you get fluid). Some argue it does not cause stretching and use straws. I admit I used one briefly because it helped with Fluid intake, but it DID cause me to take in more air, so I stopped. Measuring cups and a scale are a must! It will ensure you don't over eat, that you eat enough, and that you don't make yourself sick because you "eyeballed" the food, guesstimated, and got it wrong! i have also seen a lot of people say that porting their food in the little 2 ounce ramekins with the lids really helps! -
