I'm happy to hear that your acid reflux is gone.
-
My surgeon said for the first 6 weeks that walking was fine. After 6 weeks, he had no restrictions on any type of exercise.
-
You're very welcome. Good luck!!

My surgeon requires that you take their 3 hour nutrition class BEFORE you have surgery. I've scanned a copy of their post-op diet and included a link to it below. I followed this post-op diet to a T and didn't have a single problem. Remember, this is the post-op diet recommended by my surgeon. It seems as though every surgeon has a different post-op diet. I hope this helps. http://www.geocities.com/tricia_kutz/misc/post-op-diet.JPG

Debra, You're very welcome for the feedback. I can completely understand why your doctor would choose replacement rather than fusing due to your age. My Mother was 56 at the time so it was the only option for her. Thanks for the kind words about my Mother. From what I understand, she has no pain when it's cold or when it rains. - Tricia

My Mother had back surgery about 4 years ago to fuse some herniated discs. She's much better than she was before but still not 100%. She's had to go through some cortizone treatments since the surgery but as long as she doesn't over-exert herself, she's fine.

How Many Ice Cream Scoops have you lost?
Tricia K. replied to Bandster Brad's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was never a big ice cream eater but I'll play along. I've lost 356 scoops. -
Congrats!

LOL...that's hilarious. My 7 yr. old step-son recently hopped up on my Husband's lap to read a story and says to him "Whoa. Talk about halitosis. Get a breath mint or something."
-
There is some good info in this thread. My Husband politely told me last night that my breath was less than desirable. I suppose I'm going to have to eat more yogurt AND carry some mints and gum with me at all times.

Laura, I'm so sorry you had to go through this. Hopefully next time you'll have a much better experience.

Welcome aboard Morgan. Best of luck to you with the surgery!! PCOS stands for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, which I also have. Here's a link for information on the sydnrome. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polycystic_ovary_syndrome FYI - one of the symptons is obesity. Unfortunately, some women with PCOS are unable to lose a significant amount of weight even with proper diet and exercise. Hence my reason for being banded.

Great info....thanks. I'm trying to balance aerobic with cardio during the week. I've just started doing Buns of Steel, I'm still walking/somewhat jogging, and I'm doing Krav Maga. Once I move from a Krav Maga beginner to advanced, I'll move from once a week to 3 x per week. I've also asked for one of The Method cardio videos, a mini trampoline and some walking weights for Christmas.

Wow, I'm glad you're alright. I'm sure that was quite a scare.

It's definitely not something that keeps my heart rate up. However, it is league night and we try to get out of there quickly so we bowl as fast (and as accurate) as we can. I realized after the first few weeks that the 2 1/2 hours of bowling shouldn't be counted in for the 4 hours of total aerobic exercise per week so I've decided to add in other things to make up for it. I suppose at this point I'm just adding it in as something "else" I'm doing during the week.

Sometimes I think SISTERs are over-rated!
Tricia K. replied to Penni60's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My heart goes out to you. Love is powerful but unfortunately drugs are even more powerful. I wish your sister and your family the best and hope that one day she'll heal completely and you'll have your (original) sister back. *HUGS* -
I got in 45 minutes of Buns of Steel (first time doing this video) and 2 1/2 hours of bowling yesterday. Boy oh boy do my legs and hips hurt!!

In the 2 1/2 months that I've been banded, I've PB'd a total of 4 times. I absolutely hate the feeling and now do anything and everything to avoid having one. I now know the triggers and stay far, far away from them.
-
I agree. I think they all did well and I commend them on their efforts.

That is incredible news!! I'm so glad that you don't have to go under the knife again. Thanks for sharing your miracle with us.

Do You Ever Wish You WEREN'T Banded?
Tricia K. replied to amiefletch's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not for one second! -
Actually, I am just the opposite. I didn't have high blood pressure to begin with (120/82 typically) but now it has gone down to about 112/75.
-
Thanks Pat!

I had one until my purse was stolen in Las Vegas in October. Argh...I need to get another one from my doctor. I didn't realize that you were provided with discount meals because of the card. Nice perk!

It's the band or nothing for me. I wouldn't go any other route.
