How about saying that you have cysts on your ovaries that need to be removed? Most likely, the men won't ask anymore questions and the women will sympathize with you.

My husband told me the same thing. I found this thread by using the search function only to find out that, yes, this is common. So, I now carry breath mints and gum with me where ever I go. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=10256&highlight=help+bad+breath

Please post about your complications
Tricia K. replied to gadgetlady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on 9/16/05 and, other than a minor incision infection, I've had no complications. -
As far as it stands right now, I plan to keep the band on for the rest of my life.

How long did it take after your first fill before you got restriction
Tricia K. replied to Firecallie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My 1st fill did nothing for me either. I was good for about a week and a half after my 2nd fill but then got another one after 3 weeks. My restriction is very good now. I'm currently at 2.2cc in a 4cc band. -
I voted that I'm 100% satisfied with my band and my surgeon but the following also applies to me. If you had your Band removed, would you want a new one if possible? A resounding YES!!

low BMI before surgery - does it correlate with slow weight loss?
Tricia K. replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Pre-surgery BMI/Weight/Height: 44.2/274/5'6" Current BMI/Weight: 38.7/240 34 lbs. lost divided by 14 weeks = 2.4 lbs. lost per week -
Not every surgeon requires a sleep study of his/her patients. After answering a series of questions, my surgeon determined that I did not have sleep apnea and, therefore, didn't need one. I'm sorry to hear that your insurance company has denied the study. Did they give you a specific reason? If not, maybe you should call and ask for one and then inquire about what you should/can do to receive approval for the study. Otherwise, your only other option is to pay for it out-of-pocket. Good luck.

I can only say from my own experience that drinking right up to eating a meal is not good. I experienced my 2nd PB after doing this. It was extremely painful and lasted longer than the other 3 that I've experienced. Personally, I wait a 1/2 hour before eating and at least an hour after before drinking anything. Therefore, none of the above poll options refer to me.

just whining and complaining some more....
Tricia K. replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm sorry about your frustration. I had surgery 2 weeks before you did and I've had 3 fills in my 4cc band, totaling 2.2cc. However, I found that unless I cut my calories to an average of 900 per day, I wasn't losing weight. Might I suggest trying that for a few days and seeing what the outcome is? -
Congratulations on both the marriage and the NSV!

Poll: would you do it over again?
Tricia K. replied to lovecats85's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am overall pleased with my band and happy with my decision. I would do it all over again. -
milk and dairy - good or bad for weight loss?
Tricia K. replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've also heard that dairy products can help you lose weight. But, I try to stay away from dairy as much as possible. The most I have per day is 16 oz. of skim milk with my protein powder. -
I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. Keep fighting them up until the day you're no longer with them. Denying you on the grounds that your doctor's office burned down is ridiculous.

We have 3 shelter (adopted) cats. Smokey is 7 years old and gray. Patches is 2 years old and a calico. And Simba is 2 years old and a brown/black tabby. Here are photos of all 3.

I had my 3rd fill last Tuesday and I feel very good restriction. I am now down to a total weight loss of 31 pounds. I can't wait for the moment when I can actually SEE the difference in the mirror.

Just talked with my insurance company...
Tricia K. replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
According to a post by DrHekier..... "The new code is valid January 1, 2006 I am told. It is 43770. 43770 – Laparoscopy, surgical, gastric restrictive procedure; placement of adjustable gastric band (gastric band and subcutaneous port components)." Here's the thread link http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=11845 -
I have never been to a support group. Since Hurricane Katrina hit a lot of previously scheduled support groups have been canceled. Let me know if you hear of any and I'll see if I can attend.

I was banded in mid-September and just got my 3rd fill last Tuesday. I now have 2.2cc in a 4cc band and my restriction level seems perfect. I wish you the best of luck!

Are you referring to support group meetings? I live about an hour from Baton Rouge.
