Rabbits and Turtles United New Year Challenge
Tricia K. replied to It's me-Debbydo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
1/4/06 Weight = 236 NSV: I bought a size 18/20 belt to hold up my too loose size 22 pants. 1/9/06 Weight = 234 (-2) NSV: I was able to fit into a misses size 20 pants at Old Navy. 1/16/06 Weight = 229 (-5) NSV(s): 1) My mother-in-law came to visit this past weekend and called me a "skinny minnie!" 2) I can now fit comfortably (with room to spare) in those plastic, stackable patio chairs. 1/23/06 Weight = 228 (-1) NSV: I FINALLY had to break down and buy new size 20 clothing because I was tired of my old clothes falling off of me. 1/30/06 Weight = 226 (-2) NSV: I had to move the seat in my vehicle closer to the steering wheel because my butt isn't so big anymore. 2/6/06 Weight = 221 (-5) NSV(s): 1) Our female bowling league partner told me this past Tuesday that I had a nice butt. P.S. She wasn't hitting on me. LOL 2) I fit into and purchased a pair of size 18 shorts. SV: 4 more pounds and I'm halfway to my goal!! :biggrin1: 2/13/06 Weight = 220 (-1) NSV: I don't really have one this week. Hopefully I'll make up for it with 2 next week. 2/20/06 Weight = 220 (no change) NSV(s): 1) On the plane to and from Vegas last week, I didn't have to struggle to secure my seatbelt, but rather had 6-8 inches of slack. 2) My hips didn't spread into the seats next to me causing the armrests to lift up. 3) My husband said he saw several men in Vegas checking out my ass!! LOL 2/27/06 Weight = 216 (-4) I met my personal goal early, on the 23rd. NSV: I fit into (and purchased, of course) a pair of size 16 jeans today! -
Congratulations and best of luck for a speedy recovery.

You're well prepared, like I was. But, please don't be nervous. This surgery is a breeze. I know it's easier said than done but you'll understand once you're home and recovering. *hugs*
-
I don't doubt that you understand. I think we're just trying to reiterate what you already know. If I am thirsty during a meal, I will take a very, very small sip of something just to quench my thirst. Believe me, I was one that drank during every meal but found that after surgery, it wasn't as hard of a transition as I had expected. I suppose you should just take it meal-by-meal and see what your level of thirst is.

As La_madam mentioned above, once you've consumed Protein and are full, you're going to have a hard time drinking anything. It truly does hurt. Additionally, drinking while eating defeats the purpose of the band as it flushes the food in your new stoma into the larger part of your stomach, causing you to be hungry sooner than you should be. However, if you're constantly on the go requiring fast food stops rather than planning meals, I suggest the following: Wendy's small chili Wendy's side salad Taco Bell pintos and cheese McDonald's yogurt and granola Burger King 6-piece chicken fries (I try to avoid these 'cause they're deep-fried but I've had them on occasion) Once banded, with proper restriction, you're going to have a very hard time eating a grilled chicken sandwich (or chicken at all) so the portions above may just be perfect for you. Best of luck to you.

I agree. That's a great idea. I kept a few things.....my biggest pair of pants and the clothes I wore the day of surgery.

I am having surgery in the morning!!
Tricia K. replied to RoxanneRoll's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Shame on them for writing hateful things about your positive recovery. My recovery was much like yours. I did take pain meds for a day and a half, only as a precautionary measure though. I was never really in pain. I just wanted to ward off any potential pain. I was up and around doing my normal thing a fews days following surgery. -

You both need to see the doc ASAP. Best of luck that neither of you have a slipped band though. *hugs* -
Cheated during 2 week pre op liquid diet
Tricia K. replied to Linda3106's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
A 13 lb. loss is great pre-surgery. My surgeon recommended that I lose at least a few pounds, which could make a world of difference on your liver. I wouldn't worry too much about it. -
Don't forget about the Inamed 4cc band. That's what I have.
-
Very odd....the only thing I feel that I need to have in the house is flavored Water. I don't really crave anything. As a matter of fact, I threw away 3/4 of one of those no-bake chocolate/peanut butter Desserts today.
-
Congratulations. I had the same NSV last week on my trip to and from Vegas as well.
-
Had this procedure not been available, I would have never had another type of WLS. Indeed, it is a personal choice/decision.
-
I didn't ask my surgeon but I was able to get back into the "swing" of things about 4-5 days after surgery. You may have to experiment with different positions to find one that most comfortable for you. However, I do recommend placing your hand over your port area/incision to secure it when in missionary position. Believe me, you'll know immediately why if you don't.

If you're using a tickerfactory.com ticker, you'll have to copy and paste the following code into your signature: bbCode: (Fertility Friend's Circles, phpBB, Invision Power Board, vBulletin...) Alternately, if you're using a tickercentral.com ticker, you'll have to the use the following code: phpBB & other BB Code boards Once you've created your ticker on either site, you'll be provided with these codes. :scared:

I'm happy to hear that you're feeling better about being a newbie. :scared: I'm still relatively a newbie as well. I joined 2 months prior to you.

I have so many things to be happy about. Here are 10 to start. 1) I have a wonderful, loving, supportive husband who thinks I've ALWAYS been hot. 2) I have great friends and a loving family. 3) I met my Rabbits and Turtles United Challenge goal early (yesterday). 4) I'm finally past the halfway point to my goal weight! 5) I've had no complications with my band. 6) I'm averaging a loss of 2.5 lbs. per week. 7) I'm finally over my nasty cold. 8) I got to sing karaoke last night. 9) My step-son is a great kid. 10) I'm happy to have found LBT.
