Or, as Francis Ouimet's young caddy from the movie Greatest Game Ever Played would say "Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy" :biggrin1:

That is so cool! I can't wait to see this in print. You go, girl!

I had a good giggle after reading that one too.

Support Group Fees?????????????!$!$#$#$%
Tricia K. replied to NJGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's so odd. The support groups in my area are also run by the surgeons as well as additional medical staff from the local hospital. They've never once asked for money to attend the groups. I hope you find a reputable surgeon that doesn't require this fee. -
I'm so sorry that you're scared. But, once you have the surgery, you'll probably realize that your fears were unfounded. Having lap band surgery was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm extremely happy with my band and my progress thus far. I hope you get over your fear very soon. Good luck!!

Support Group Fees?????????????!$!$#$#$%
Tricia K. replied to NJGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh wow! I've never heard of such a thing. Is the surgeon and his office requiring the $750 for the support group or is this a separate entity? If it's the surgeon and his office, it would seem to me as though their main focus is to squeeze as much money as they can out of people rather than helping them successfully lose weight. -
LOL...I can honestly say that I haven't had a problem eating filet mignon. As long as I take small bites and chew them very well, I'm good to go. I hope you decide to try it. At least you'll know whether or not you can tolerate it. Good luck!!

Great idea! When tempted to eat something you know that you shouldn't, put on your walking shoes and take a 10 minute walk. When you return, drink at least 16 oz. of Water. This should (I hope) curb that temptation and fill you with pride for not giving in.

Why didn't we know ... before surgery?
Tricia K. replied to Tricia K.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LOL...I'm to that point now, Alexandra. Many people have made some good points here and it's nice to see all sides of the story. I truly just wanted some clarification as to why some people don't research prior to going under the knife. I just can't comprehend it. And, like I said before, I'm not picking on any group in particular. I'm just trying to point out that it's imperative to know everything that you can before undergoing surgery, of any type. So, Alexandra, if you wish to change the thread title to something you feel is more appropriate, I am all for it. Maybe it will alleviate some of the hard feelings. -
Have you tried V-8 Splash? I can't stand regular V-8 juice but this stuff is yummy.

I'm happy to hear that your surgery went well. Pain after surgery is normal for most people. There are those rare occasions when someone has such minimal pain that they don't require pain meds. In any event, welcome to bandland and I hope you have a speedy recovery.

does it feel weird to be loosing weight?
Tricia K. replied to aligirrl77's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh my gosh, I know exactly how you feel. The feeling isn't as strong now as it was in the beginning but I do have my moments. Like the other day while I was shopping. I was looking for some jeans, picked up a pair of size 16's, looked at them and said "these are not going to fit me." Well, guess what? They did fit and I bought them!! It's so strange looking at at clothing that you used to wear and what you wear now. I absolutely love it though. Best of luck to everyone for successful weight loss!! -

Apryl - I know exactly how you feel. Most days I eat because I know that I have to but I'm rarely ever really hungry. I admit though, there have been a few moments since my surgery that I've craved something. Typically, it's a filet mignon!! Hee hee!!

Why didn't we know ... before surgery?

Penni, you hit the nail on the head! Thank you! Donna, as I've said before, everyone is entitled to their opinion. With that said, you couldn't be farther from the truth. Understandably, personalities are often hard to determine on a message board. -

Why didn't we know ... before surgery?
Tricia K. replied to Tricia K.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kelli, I'm asking for insight as to why people wouldn't do extensive research before blindly going under the knife to have Lap Band surgery. And, to answer your question about the necessity of the question, I'm going to cite a question I've read many, many times. "If my post-surgery diet consists of ice cream, Cookies, regular soda, etc., why am I not losing weight with the band?" I mean, come on!!! Didn't you have the sense to ask your surgeon and/or nutritionist BEFORE you had surgery what you should and should not eat in order to lose weight with the band? It isn't a magic pill. It's a tool. That is the type of question I get so annoyed with. Hence, my reason for asking the question. -
Why didn't we know ... before surgery?
Tricia K. replied to Tricia K.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, my question may seem a bit harsh, but I felt that it was necessary to ask, and I'm not going to apologize for asking. Some people here seem to think that I'm picking on others but, all I'm trying to do is better understand why people don't research prior to having this surgery. Again, blind faith is just not my thing. And to answer another question, yes, there have been times in the past when I've experienced something and thought "why hadn't I thought of that?" but, as of now, it wasn't related to this surgery. I'm not saying that I have all of the answers or that I know everything there is to know, but if I ever need information about this surgery or anything related to it, I try to find what I need to know before I start asking questions of other bandsters. That's me. Furthermore, I'm not asking ANYONE to be like me. Lastly, if I come across as being unsupportive, forgive me. That's not me either. As many of you are well aware, feelings/emotions are very hard to express via just words on a message board. I think this site is great and very helpful for a lot of people. -
I'm happy to hear that you're back home and that your surgery was uneventful. Best of luck for a speedy recovery.

Why didn't we know ... before surgery?
Tricia K. replied to Tricia K.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm not referring to any specific group of people (wired/unwired), but people in general. Even those that don't have access to a computer and its vast resources, I just can't understand why they wouldn't ask questions of their doctor, read as much printed literature as they could, and attend as many support/seminar groups as possible before going under the knife. Having blind faith is so hard for me to comprehend. Like others that have posted in this thread, I wanted to know everything there was to know before getting this surgery. And Wheetsin, your situation may be unique. You did your research and still have questions. -
How should we get rid of the Girl Scout Cookies?
Tricia K. replied to Dianechef's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
None of the above. I think you should either throw them away or give them to someone you don't see that often. Either way, you've already contributed to the Girl Scouts. -

Coffee/lattes/etc. do not keep me awake. I can drink one and fall asleep 10 minutes later. Please don't lump everyone into the same category. Everyone is different.
