Deep thoughts for those who take life way to seriously :)
Tricia K. replied to NJChick's topic in The Lounge
Are those from Jack Handy (SNL)? You shouldn't put a dog on space shuttle because if it puts its head out the window, its face might freeze off. -
My surgeon and his nurse practitioner explained to me that "stretching the pouch" is erroneous. This quote by Elizabeth E on obesityhelp.com may help explain things. "From my understanding the term "pouch" is something that applied to the bypass not the lapband. We really have one stomach that is divided like an hour glass into two parts. The upper stomach above the band and the lower stomach below the band. The band functions like a funnel directing food into the lower stomach slowly so that the vagus nerve can be triggered into telling our brain that we're full. Since the food is moving from one part of the stomach to the other "stretching" doesn't really happen for us unless you really binge, which usually results in the food just coming right back up." Are you sure that your band didn't slip a bit and they loosened it so that it would hopefully repair itself?

How frustrating...I'm sorry that you're going through this. The least they can do is call you if/when they have a cancellation.

Someone is a child of the 80's. Even the hair bands had some good songs.

leatha, you can also import any existing .mp3 on your computer or a cd into Itunes and then copy them onto your iPod. I've never once purchased music from Itunes.

Awww lianna, please don't feel as though you're left out. There is no post amount requirement. You're welcome in this club anytime.

I typically stay with filet mignon when it comes to steak. Anything else is asking for trouble. I also don't eat chicken breast unless it's the canned kind. Good luck!
-
FYI - I have the 2GB iPod nano. The nano replaced the mini. My hubby has the 30GB iPod because he's a big "books on cd" kind of guy. He also downloads Money Talk w/ Bob Brinker every weekend.

Actually, I don't eat anything before I work out. I wait until after I've worked out to eat. I don't know if that's good or not, but it's what I do. I don't ever feel sluggish though. I'm taking a break from working out for a few days. I've been focusing too much on strength training and need to let my body rest. I'll start cardio when I resume but I'm hoping these few days will allow me to drop a few pounds.

Woo hoo....it's soooo nice to see everyone active in this thread. P'Nut - welcome back to the real world! You go with your 1 mile in 22 minutes. You'll be jogging in no time. Telly - you know that I love you bunches! Keep your chin up, sweetie! Lins - you're such a cutie! Amy - I'm so happy that you're doing so well in the healing stage. You're doing a great job as a bandster so far and I can't wait for you to start posting your losses again. Sherri - please do as the others have suggested and eat some more, especially protein. Mix that pudding with some milk if you're concerned about PB'ing. And, remember to chew it before swallowing - I know it sounds weird to chew pudding but you need to right now. Emilee - where are you, girly?? I'm sooooo looking forward to seeing that 199 lbs. picture. Make sure you get your toes painted first though! Ha ha! Oh yeah....one last thing....based on the calculations from the website Telly posted, I'm in the SAME CATEGORY!!! BMI Index Analysis Based upon your current Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30.7, you are currently classed as moderately overweight. A healthy BMI for your gender and age is between 20 and 25 and a reasonable weight loss rate is 1-2 pounds a week. Granted, the BMI calculator from my surgeon's site tells me something different, but I'm sticking with this one!! Ha ha! Screw 'em!! Wait, did I just say that?

 for Telly. Friday will be here soon!

No, it's not just you. I think the same thing.

A fill while pregnant?
Tricia K. replied to StephanieRaye's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
My OB/GYN told me that her 1st lap band patient who was pregnant didn't have any of her fill removed during her entire pregnancy. She was properly restricted and was able to get enough nutrition for both her and her baby. You may wish to speak to your OB/GYN and your surgeon to see what they recommend. -
I have no idea as I am able to consume both white and brown rice.

My "Hooray!", turned Rant, turned Pity Party
Tricia K. replied to argon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You're very welcome, sweetie.  Thank you so much for the kind words. I do recommend taking photos of yourself every month so that you have record of your progression. I promised myself that I would take monthly photos and measurements. Although, I slacked off for 2 months on the measurements! Oops. :kiss You're right though, I am 5'6" so we may end up looking very similar at 192 pounds. You're doing a fantastic job and I hope you realize just how beautiful you are. -
Thanks, sweetie! LOL @ the Wonder Woman shirt. I briefly had a Wonder Woman layout on my myspace page but I didn't care for it. Isn't Telly's weight loss amazing? I'm proud of her too. You're going to be at 199 very soon.

Congrats for having self-control, Margo! :clap2:
-
Wow, it looks like you had fun. I'm sooo jealous!! I love the beach.
-
Hee hee...thanks NewSho! :biggrin1: See Telly, it's not so bad.

Do you currently have insurance? If so, you may be able to get your pre-op testing covered under your insurance plan. Check with the surgeon's office to see exactly what they require and then visit your PCP for the testing referrals.

I registered for the one in Slidell, LA last week.

I'm doing my own exercise routine.
