LoveMyBypass reacted to Peach55 in May 24 Surgery Day
I completely understand! I'm ready to start wearing more than the 3 same pairs of pants to work. I'm creative but I'm starting to run out of ideas...

LoveMyBypass reacted to Dub in In My Hospital Bag
I took several boxes of Gas-X strips and never used them. lol
The three things that I were the most valuable to me in my hospital stay:
1) my iPhone
2) a remote battery that's good for three recharges of my iPhone. Saved me from reaching for a wall plug.
3) berry flavored chapstick that my wife bought me in the hospital's pharmacy the first afternoon. I never use the stuff but for some reason it was clutch that first night and next day.

They probably won't let you use your own socks -- hospitals (for safety reasons) like patients to wear those socks with the grippies on the feet. Maybe a pair of slippers instead? I travel with my own pillow because I'm particular about it. Sounds like you've got everything covered. Best of luck!

LoveMyBypass got a reaction from bsweetness in I GOT MY SURGERY DATE!
So, today was my consultation with my surgeon. I was so nervous because I was supposed to lose 25 pounds and I've only lost 22. BUT everything went well. We discussed which surgery was right for me and he agreed with me when I said I wanted bypass surgery. I'm a sugar freak and he agreed that the bypass was the better choice. He explained a few things I already knew, I asked all the questions I needed to ask. My number one concern was... When can I go to Disneyland? Lol. He said right after but please please please remember to drink drink drink or you'll end up in the hospital the next day for dehydration.
Anyway, my surgery date is May 24, but I am on the cancellation list. Who knows maybe I can get surgery earlier. It's finally real to me. It's finally happening and I am so excited.
Just wanted to express my happiness.

So, my surgery is this Tuesday the 24th of May. Just curious if I'm prepared or not. This is what I have besides a change of clothes and my cell phone...
1. Chapstick
2. A Blanket
3. Toothbrush
4. Toothpaste
5. Mouthwash
6. Body wash
7. My tablet
8. Chargers
9. hair brush
10. Deodorant
11. Wash rag
12. Slippers
13. Gas X Strips
14. Socks
15. Q-Tips
16. Lotion
I don't normally wear makeup, so that isn't on my list. So this is what I have in my bag as of now. I don't plan on washing my hair at the hospital because it's soooo long and I just want it out of my way at all times during recovery. Don't worry, I'm washing it the morning of.
If there is anything I am missing please let me know. I hope I have everything down. I've waited 5 months for this and it's finally here.

Here is a silly little tip from me....buy a ramekin or two to use as bowls, if you don't already have some. The thicker walls seem to keep my food warmer for longer, which is great when you are trying to eat slower.

LoveMyBypass got a reaction from krazy kat in Hacks, Tips and Helpful Notes
Hi everyone
I will have surgery sometime this month. I am very excited but it's still unreal. The reason I wanted to start this topic is because I was wondering if there is anything you learned after surgery. Advice of any kind; things that made recovery easier, food or Snacks used after surgery that were good, routine advice? Anything you can share that you learned on your own experience. I would love to hear your stories. Hacks that made life easier after surgery. Anything!! Warnings of what's to come for me.
It's one thing when you have paper work telling you what will happen. But what about the things that they don't tell you. Things like that are things I would love to hear.
Thank you so much for your replies in advance

I wrote down all my questions in my phone so I wouldn't forget anything. Also, I recorded my whole appointment because I didn't want to forget anything he said. I have heard it twice and there are a few things i didn't remember him saying.. Lol.. Maybe I was too nervous. But still... It's so exciting at the same time.
I hope your appointment goes great!

LoveMyBypass reacted to Pup in May 24 Surgery Day
Hi ladies, I'm also having surgery on the 24th! sleeping has been tough.....I can't get my mind off of the whole life style change....I worry too much about what other people will think. I went shopping the other day for foods that I may need the first four weeks....it takes forever to shop when your dissecting every single label.
