I am 49, married with three children, and one grandson. I recently went to work as a cosmetologist, 30 years out of beauty school. I had to find the courage within myself to study up, retest to obtain my current license, and make a total career change. I have spent the last year working n changing my life to make it the way that I want it. The final step in that transformation is to change my weight. I have been over weight since adolescence. Twenty years ago I explored bariatric surgery, but due to the severe restrictions, and the complications I did not follow through. I am now ready for the lifestyle changes, and am anxiously waiting for my surgery date, which I am hoping will be in February.
I have been on a low carb, low fat, high protein diet that my dietician has put me on in preparation for my surgery. I have not had too much trouble with the diet in and of itself, my issue has been portion control and earning to eat smaller and more frequent meals. I know that documenting and logging my food intake daily is a very powerful tool to help me stay on track, but I have to admit I hate taking the time to log every day, and it is not always possible to log as I am eating, as I may only have a few minutes between clients to eat.
