Hey everyone ! I was sleeved this past Tuesday 9/24 and I have an odd question. Was anyone scared to transition into their purée and then soft mushy food phases. Today has been the first day it’s been easier for me to get my water and protein down without being in total discomfort ( I know to be expected) but my doctor said starting Friday or Saturday I can slowly start transitioning into puréed food. I don’t know why the thought of actually eating real food even if it’s puréed scares me a little. I don’t want to hurt my new sleeve & I don’t know why I feel like Friday or Saturday is not that far out from my surgery. Anyone else start this phase that quickly? And if so how did you tolerate it. Thanks so much in advance ! PS if anyone has any recipes for this phase I would GREATLY appreciate it !!! Xoxo

I think I made a big mistake
NYGirlxo replied to chula313's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Chula313 I’m so sorry you feel this way. I promise you it will get better with time. Try to get up and walk every few hours at home even if it’s around the bedroom to the bathroom and back it helps a lot with passing some of the gas that causes a lot of pain or discomfort after surgery. Sip lots of water slowly throughout the day to keep hydrated. You can also try protein water I grabbed mine from amazon and I purchased ice pop makers. I poured them into the pouches froze them and slowly allowed the ice pops to melt in my mouth which keeps you hydrated provides the protein you need to give you energy and help you heal and isn’t too harsh on the stomach since you aren’t really sipping. If you can’t tolerate this please go to the hospital and explain to them what’s going on they will get you hooked up to iv fluids. It’s important you don’t dehydrate yourself. Please don’t feel alone during this journey. From what I hear a lot of people have “buyers remorse” right out of surgery but the pain will pass and it will become much easier. Remember why you chose this life changing decision! -
Hey everyone ! Just curious to see if anyone is getting sleeved in or around February 2016. Although I don't have an exact date yet, I'm expected to get sleeved around mid February.

February 2016 sleevers?

Congrats! How exciting ! -
Although I haven't gotten my sleeve yet I have tried almost every diet there is out there. I've lost a ton of weight only to gain it all back time and time again. To answer your question, I've been able to shed some pounds and drop down between 1/2 to 1 shoe size depending on the shoe itself. I would assume it would be no different with the sleeve. Don't forget your feet will slim down as well as you lose weight but everyone is different .. Hope this helps xo

Surgery on Dec 23, I have a cold and un-supportive husband
NYGirlxo replied to CravingABetterMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It sounds to me, and this is just my observation, that you're upset because this IS something that you want. And you're willing to put that to the side because of your husbands disapproval. I'm so sorry you are going through this. Let me just start by saying that you ARE A STRONG WOMAN. Sometimes, and I know this is hard to do, you need to be "selfish" and think about what's best for you. Honestly, at the end of the day it's YOUR body and YOUR health. Don't ever let someone hold you back from being the best YOU you can be. As long as you believe in yourself nothing else matters .. And when things get tough and you start to doubt yourself ( because you're human and that's perfectly Ok ) know that EVERY ONE HERE BELIEVES IN YOU. I know I sure as hell do. At the end of the day you and only you will need to live with your decision. You deserve this! Don't let anyone tell you differently. You will be just fine! Your husband doesn't necessarily have to agree with your decision but he should at least support you because he loves you. Try sitting down with him and letting him know this is something you're serious about and you would at least appreciate his support. If that doesn't work then just tell him you're sorry he feels that way and focus on you! You can do this!! There's a saying that I love that says " When faced with a hard decision .. Toss a coin.. The truth will always come out in that split second that the coin is in the air.. You'll find yourself hoping it lands on a certain side" HUGS to you. I know everything will fall into place for you. Remember to grow through what you go through. Communication is always key.. Everything will be ok xoxo -

Congrats !!! My surgery date should be very close to yours ! I can't wait! Keep me updated if you can -
Hi Bully Momma! First I'd just like to say that I am also a proud bully momma ! Lol Anyway, my boyfriend and I will be going in for surgery together. He was approved right away about 6 months ago however I was not and my insurance required that I do 6 months of support groups. My boyfriend decided that this was something he wanted to do together and began to go to the support groups with me so that he could also educate himself as much as possible before the big day. So here I am about 6 months later finishing up my support groups on January 7th, going for my work up on the 13th and then waiting to hear from my insurance company. For a while I couldn't decide between the sleeve and the band but with the help of these forums I decided that the sleeve would be best for me. I was told I'd be going in for surgery around mid February but I'm hoping for early February lol.. Either way I'm just so happy to begin this journey and I feel so lucky to be able to share the ups and downs with someone I love! Good luck to you I can't wait to hear more about your journey I definitely want to connect with other women as I'm sure men and woman probably have different experiences! xo. Btw I'm 5'4 and my starting weight is 275

Same here ! I will be done with my support groups January 7th, my work up is scheduled for the 13th and then everything gets submitted to my insurance company. After that it's a waiting game so my doctor told me I should expect to go in around mid February. I'm so excited

Hey everyone ! I am expected to get my sleeve mid February if all goes as planned and I have a few questions that I will be asking my doctor at the next appointment (which is the first week of January). In the meantime, I'm hoping I can get some insight from those of you who have already been sleeved. 1. First question may be a bit silly and I know everyone has their own unique experience, but I'm wondering what to expect on the actual day of surgery. For some reason the surgery itself doesn't make me nervous because I know I have an excellent doctor, but being put to sleep makes me a little nervous. Also, I'm nervous that I'll wake up into excruciating pain.. Is this the case ? Either way I know eventually it will all be a minor detail but I'm just curious to see how others have reacted to surgery. 2. My second question has to do with hair loss. Is there anything I can do from now to prevent my hair from falling out/ thinning. I know getting in my Protein is key, but is there anything else I can do? I know not everyone experiences hair loss but for those of you who have.. What did you do to tackle this problem? How long before it began to grow back ? 3. My third question has to do with excess skin. Again I know each person is different and there are many factors to this. My question is did anyone find that toning exercises or any kind of body butters/lotions help at all? 4. My fourth and final question has to do with pregnancy after being sleeved. I don't plan on starting a family for another 4-5 years but I'm curious if the sleeve has affected anyone's pregnancy.. Did anyone find it hard to take in the proper nutrients ? Was it hard to bounce back from pregnancy? Did any complications that may not be obvious arise due to the sleeve? Sorry for the million questions! These are just some things that have crossed my mind and I would love to hear about your experiences. Thanks in advance ! xo

I'm so sorry to hear that! It must be so frustrating Just know everything happens for a reason and I'm sure everything will work out just fine! As hard as it is, just be patient, it's all worth it in the end. I'm sure a few months from now you'll look back and this will all be a vague memory ! I know probably not what you want to hear right now but everything will be ok..Try and give the insurance company a call- they might be able to recommended you to a few doctors in the area that accept your insurance. Good luck to you ! xo

Hey everyone! Thank you for taking the time out to read this. Basically, I'm having a hard time deciding which wls would be best for me and I'm hoping some of you would be kind enough to share your story or experiences with me. I've been to about 6 support groups so far and ultimately the only answers I've gotten are "since your still young go with the lap band" or "at the end of the day it's your choice but I would highly recommend looking into the lap band because of your age". While I understand where they are coming from, i still seem to be leaning more towards the gastric sleeve based on my own research on the procedure and the amount of weight I have to lose .. The only problem is that so many people are telling me to consider the lap band that now I'm starting to second guess myself. At the end of the day my main concern is my health! I was hoping I could hear from some of you just so I can put things into perspective. A little about me. I'm 22 years old , 5'4 weighing about 275 lbs no major complications stem from my weight besides slightly high blood pressure. My estimated surgery date would be mid February but I would have to decide what it is I want to do first. Thank you all in advance for any comments, advice, experiences, etc!
