If it comes thru a straw, then swallowing is good too, right?

      No chewing required...

Omg @LipstickLady you almost made me shoot jerky out my nose!!!

Yes @jane13 swallowing anything from a straw is good. Desirable even!

Is there a way to break a stall

@@perfectlyimperfect44 I would also like to cast my vote for a calorie increase. I've hit 3 stalls since my surgery in January, and each one broke the day after adding 100-200 cals. I'm sure it doesn't work for everyone, but in my particular situation it has been the solution each time. I know your nut isn't being very forthcoming, but according to mine, 600-800 cals and 70-80g Protein was my goal at 2 months. At 3 months I was bumped up to 800-1000 cals and 90g protein. I would imagine that at 5 months one might need to be a bit higher still. Hardly medical advice, but this is just what has worked for me so far. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. @@jess9395 You're not missing anything. The app is bugging out on you. When I first opened it this morning on my iPhone it was doing the same thing. It also didn't have the option to quote when tapping on someone else's post. I just restarted the app - closed it out completely and reloaded it - then it was fully functional again. Give that a try. Crackers

I try to eat my meat and cheese on apple or pear slices, but sometimes I just want the damn cracker. When I do, I go for the original potato variety of Good Thins. Very thin. Very crispy. Less than 1g of carbs per cracker. Given that I eat 6 at most, I feel that the carb count is a small price to pay for that satisfying cracker crunch. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Protein bars

@@Christinamo7 We have the same three varieties! Lol. The Cookies and creme one isn't bad, but its my least preferred of the three options. I enjoy the triple chocolate as well, but I am and always will be a vanilla-first kinda girl. The same company also makes great Protein powders, which are the only ones I've truly enjoyed since surgery.
  14. Oh what a great read, catching up on all of this. I noticed it before falling asleep but figured I'd wait until I awoke to comment. Holy sh*t has it exploded! I have had bypass. My doctor takes no issue with straws. The whole argument with straws is about swallowing air, which you do anytime you swallow anything anyway. Soooo...yeah. Lol, Dub. Just...LOL. I can't say that I haven't noticed her ignorant string of posts over the last few days. She was already firmly on my 'dislike' list before this thread came along. Oh for the love of god! Bypass people!! RUUUUUNNNNNN!!!! That is all. I shall try to tone down the b*tch factor for the rest of the day now.

    Protein bars

If you're okay with having to order them, I really enjoy the Fluffy vanilla Crisp bars from the BP store. They have 160 calories, 15g Protein, are not too sweet, and the texture is closer to that of a rice krispie treat than a standard dense Protein Bar. I do have a Quest bar as well from time to time for the higher protein content and addition of Fiber, but they are just way too sweet to be my go-to bar.
  18. @@KindaFamiliar The two posts certainly started out similar, yes, however mine stayed ravey whilst yours bordered on ranty. Compare Before and After…Your Kitchen!

The biggest difference in my kitchen since surgery has been the amount of advance prep work. All of my Proteins are divided into 4 oz portions, vacuum sealed, and frozen so I can just take out what I need and nothing goes to waste. I try to have meal and snack components like veggies, fruits, and cheeses sliced/diced/grated into containers and ready to go for quick food prep. I've been keeping a half batch of mini egg muffins thawed in the fridge for easy to grab, high-Protein Snacks and meals for when I have neither the inclining nor the time to cook. I make full-sized batches of chilis and stocks to portion into 8 oz containers for single serve meals, Soups, or cooking liquid. All of this prep really helps me to keep on top of my calorie and protein goals, both of which were quite lacking before adopting these habits. I can no longer come up with a valid excuse not to eat or even throw a meal together. No matter how tired or lazy I'm feeling, something can always be ready in under 5 minutes.

    American Food!

@@rydersmama Being as I currently reside in North Dakota and frequent Minot on a weekly basis, I can actually be helpful here! Send your parents to the Dakota Square Mall. There they'll find Isopure at GNC, and flavored tuna at Target. I've never heard of or looked for Mr. cheese O's, but if Target normally carries them then they may be there as well. P3 packs can be bought pretty much anywhere that sells packaged lunch meats. Again, Target may have them, but if not then I know for a fact that I've seen them at Walmart.
