  1. Hope you get to put all of this behind you soon. It is terrible when you are taking drugs for one thing and they cause other problems.
  2. Don't worry about the stall @@Micoxv unfortunately there will be many of them. One day definitely does not count as a stall. You will however hit one at about 3 weeks. Almost everyone does. The scale doesn't move for a week or so. You need to do measurements at that time, because you generally continue to lose inches even though the scale doesn't move. Hang in there!

    Pre admissions testing?

I had to do a blood test which looked for some sort of stomach infection.
  4. I mix it up and then let it set in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. The froth all goes away then. I like it really cold as well (I now like my water that way also). I don't taste the protein powder taste in it. I just taste flavored water. It does stay mixed in the refrigerator so no need to reshake it.

    Protein Bars?

I really like the Oh Yeah One bars. I think peanut butter pie and chocolate mint are my favorites. They are an easy meal replacement option for me. I like these better than the quest bars I've tried.
  6. I hope the diuretic helps you tonight. If not I think you should go to the ER tomorrow. Something is definitely not right.
  7. You may want to try the purée, but make sure that you are at home in case it doesn't go well. You need to gradually introduce these foods to get your stomach used to it. I was very lucky and could tolerate everything, but I know some peoples stomachs need more coaxing. I would stick to your Drs plan.

BCBSNC - SHP: Too good to be true?

I think it can be. I have BCBS TX and I just needed one visit with the surgeon, one with the Nut, and one for the phych eval. All plans are different and BCBS is different in different states but my process was pretty easy.
  9. It kind of sounds like you may be hitting the 3rd week stall before you even get the surgery. It is the same concept, you lost some weight fast and now your body is trying to catch up. You will start loosing again if you stick with the diet long-term. Also stress creates cortisol which will also slow down weight loss. Just hang in there and stop worrying. You will do fine. I'm sure this is not the first time they have seen this in your Doc's office.
  10. Congratulations! Hope you are doing something to celebrate.
  11. I'm doing the treadmill for 60 minutes and then a class called Body Combat for 50-60 minutes every day. Last week I added a weight class, Body Pump, 3 days a week. I'm not working right now so I spend most of my day at the gym. Not sure what I'm going to do once I start working again. I started out just walking around the neighborhood, and hit the gym in Dec when it got colder. I used to do the classes about 3 years ago so I just had to work on my form and get in better shape. The key is to find something you like or you will never stick with it. Also, watch out for injuries. I had to have 2 Achilles surgeries and that is when I really started putting weight back on.
  12. I read somewhere that Levi's was introducing a line called the wedgie. Maybe I will have to look for those.
  13. I hope you are feeling better soon, and that at least you start to get some relief. I had a catheter when I had a hysterectomy for 3 days at home and it wasn't much fun. But if it does the trick it should provide some relief. Hope you get good news tomorrow!

    Calorie limits?

My Bariatric coordinator (she runs the support group) says we are supposed to aim for 800 calories per day, and then up to 1000 if you exercise intensely. There were a lot of people kind of surprised how low that was in my group however.

    BCBSTX approved now refuse payment!

I also have BCBS of TX which does not cover any obesity related conditions but they do cover WLS. Your plan is picked by your employer but it sounds a lot like mine. They did not cover the NUT or the psych eval, but so far have covered everything else for me. I had my surgery last Oct. generally if your plan changes it does so on Jan 1. Did you get approved before the first of the year? It sounds like there is just a mix up, and I'm sure they will get it fixed. I had trouble with my PCP regular appointments for a while because he would put the obesity code on the visit even though that wasn't what I was there for and BCBS kept denying the claims. He resubmitted with the correct code and they covered everything.

    A general observation from today

Funny, I tried to explain to my dauchsond after she ate her brothers dinner last night that she is going to have to get a sleeve if she doesn't stop eating so much.

You know you lost weight when

Strangers are now coming up to me at the gym and telling me how great I look. Strange feeling when I feel like I still have so far to go.
  18. Wow! Have you heard from the Doc yet?
  19. Good Luck @cowboysforlife I hope things are going well for you!
  20. Great news @Puddles. I remember eating a lot of cream of wheat during that phase. Soon it will all be a distant memory. Even though you can eat anything you will still be looking for something other than chicken or fish. I may start laying eggs soon. Next step is not getting discouraged when the dreaded 3 week stall hits. Just about everyone stalls somewhere between week 2 and 4. It seems like it lasts forever but just keep to the plan and the weight will start coming off again.
  21. BCBS took 21 days from when my paperwork was submitted until they notified me. I was on cobra so that may have had something to do with it as well. I was a 49 BMI so no problem qualifying there. Hope you get to go through with it. Cheryl has done a lot of these so she should be able to get you through if there is a possibility to do so. Luckily no 6 mos of supervised diet so that speeds things up considerably.

Is the sleeve right for me?

I have never had the band, but I would worry that you will fall into some of the same traps as your band with the sleeve. You can easily eat around it with the wrong foods. You will need to make the decision about following the rules, or no WLS will help. I still crave sweets with the sleeve, and it takes a lot of willpower to stay away from them. I track everything I eat, plus work out every day. So far it is going well, but it is not easy.

    BCBS Insurance/attorney question

Is it on their website? I had to do some looking, and with the help of the rep, I could pull up the whole policy and all of the requirements.

    BCBS Insurance/attorney question

Which state is your BCBS out of? Mine is out of TX and I called them and they told me where to find everything. Maybe you just got a bad rep. I had to have a nutritional consultation, psyche eval, letter from my PCP and I think that was all. BCBS of TX requires no pre diet, and neither did my surgeon. It took about 3 weeks to get the 2 appointments completed and then they took 21 days to approve me. Surgery was 2 weeks later.
  25. Oh wow I feel so bad for you. I agree that it is the fluid from the hospital IV's but the timing really sucks. My Doc took me off my thyroid pills for a short time at 6 weeks out because the blood test came back high. I gained 7 pounds in 4 days. It is so frustrating when you do everything right, but you still pay the price. Hang in there! Long term this is just a speed bump.
