    Loving exercising!

I'm the same way with body combat. I hadn't done it in 3 years, and now I'm taking the class every day. Couldn't believe today's class when I told my friend that there was not enough cardio in the mix. What a change from just 3 months ago.

    Friday NSV Thread

I had my annual physical today and was amazed to find out that I could easily fit in the gown and get it tied in back. Sometimes it is just the little things that make you happy.
  3. I'm just the opposite. The surgeon took me off all hormones, and shortly after the surgery I started having hot flashes. I'm dreading this summer coming.
  4. I increased from 700 to 1000. I work out 2 hours every day (primarily cardio). I could probably go to 1200, but I still have trouble getting in the 1000 at times.
  5. I am also 4.5 mos out. About a month ago my coordinator told me to up my calories specifically my carbs. This had to do with working out more. Sure enough when I did this I lost more weight faster. By upping my carbs I am eating more fruit. I also have started to add some nuts in my diet to help get more calories.
  6. I had no complications with my surgery. The only times I have thrown up is when I ate too much, and it was immediate. I don't think 2 hours later sounds like anything normal.

When is it not a stall?

If you have recently increased your activity (training for the 5k), you may need to eat more calories. I didn't stall for that long, but when I increased my activity they told me to increase my calories, especially carbs, and I started loosing more weight.

How Many Calories One Year Out?

It is not so bad once you get used to it. I do a body combat class for an hour and then the treadmill for an hour. Would love to do the combat class all day if they offered that many classes. I was surprised too when they told me to up the calories and especially carbs. No guilt now when I eat fruit. I was missing it a lot.

How Many Calories One Year Out?

I'm about 4 1/2 months out and they want me to aim for 1000 calories per day. I work out 2 hours every day so that is why they told me to increase it. I find it difficult to get that many in, however when I do I find that I loose more weight.

    Well, hello collar bones.

Congrats! Funny just last night I was rubbing my neck and discovered how pronounced my collar bones were. Been a long time since I really remember feeling them.
  11. Hi I'm also in Houston. I had BCBS through my employer. I had already met my out of pocket for the year so I did not have to pay any additional amount for the surgery. My surgery was Oct 2015. I know employers can choose to include or exclude bariatric surgery. When purchasing insurance I'm guessing that they don't want you to just pay a couple of premiums and get the surgery so maybe they require a time limit before they will cover it.

    The wait game!

My insurance took 21 days to approve the surgery once they confirmed the receipt of the paperwork. Everything was approved they just took a long time to do it. My surgeon will not even schedule a surgery until he has written confirmation from the insurance company. Good news was that once he had the approval I was scheduled very quickly.

    Down how many dress sizes

I was a solid size 24 in October2015 and now I'm in a 14. I'm finally able to shop in the regular sizes rather than the plus size area. I thought this was going to be so great, but I find that I'm intimidated by the new styles and almost too many choices. I think part of it is wanting to cover everything up with over sized clothing. I guess it is just part of the process. I still have 55 pounds to loose so hopefully I will get used to the new look.

    Frustrated

If you are using health insurance, almost all of them require some sort of medically supervised diet prior to approval of the surgery.
  16. I was really fortunate and had very little pain or issues after surgery. I was so ready to get out of that hospital I practically sprinted from my room to my friends car. I also live alone and was worried about getting around but it was needless worry. I was driving within two days and walking around the house with no problem as soon as I got home. I did have pain at the large incision site which is the side I sleep on. They gave me liquid hydrocodone and I took that at night for the pain. Only needed for two nights. I also have a huge supply of soup and canned fruit still on hand from the early weeks, so don't over buy to get ready.

    Calorie intake

I'm only 4 months out but I was experiencing a lot of stalls when I started upping my exercise dramatically. I was told to eat more carbs because of the increased exercise (2 hours every day), and to up my calorie intake. This did help me start loosing weight again and I haven't had as many stalls. For the carbs she did tell me to eat fruits and veggies. I try to keep it under 80 g per day.

    50 pounds down! But...

Are you exercising at all? I hAve found that since I started actively exercising it gives me much more energy during the day.
  19. About 2 months out my thyroid crashed and I developed restless feet. 2 months later I still have it. Mine is a little different as it is at its worse in the early afternoon. The Docs have me on Requip and that works, but it takes about an hour from when you take it to help. I also notice that it is worse right after I exercise hard.

    Extreme Low BP After Surgery

About 2 months out I was still on BP meds and my BP went down to 80 / 40. I ended up passing out on my bathroom floor and fractured my nose. I was dizzy whenever I stood up for two weeks prior to passing out and I should have been more proactive in getting off of the meds. After you pass out they want to do all kinds of expensive tests and even suggested not driving for 6 months. Being single that is not an option for me. I wish my surgeon would have warned me about watching the BP. I was used to only having it checked once a year and didn't realize how quickly it could return back to normal after surgery.

    Still waiting for approval........

I think it depends on the state you are in and your employer. I have BCBS of TX and it took 25 days.
