kaitlynm replied to Pedro Valle-Inclan's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations. I now only take 4 pills a day compared to a handful that I used to take. It is a wonderful feeling. -
Yikes! Arm Flab
kaitlynm replied to iwillbeachitagain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm down 87 pounds from my starting weight and I have some serious bat wings. I also have some loose skin on my thighs that I never had when I lost weight before. On the other hand my butt has all but disappeared. Do you think the could take the skin from my arms and thighs and make a butt out of it? [emoji6]. Here is my arm (just upside down [emoji123]????) -
Congratulations! So glad everything has worked out so well for you.

I need to do this, no matter what
kaitlynm replied to Micoxv's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Mico I wish you well on this journey. I think you are doing the right thing by having the surgery. I too have always been good at getting the exercise in, but could not keep the weight from coming back each time I lost. The exercise will help a lot with the weight loss and emotionally too I think. You sound like you are a perfect candidate in that you eat only at meal times and do not do the grazing or snacking so much. The sleeve will help you control how much you eat so gone will be the days of eating a whole steak. I used to drink a lot of wine as well but have really not had that hard of a time giving it up. I still have a glass here and there, but gone are the days of drinking 2 bottles in an afternoon. I didn't get a lot of support from my family and some of my friends either. You have done the research so you have to follow your gut. I just don't tell anyone anymore that I had the surgery, and wish I had told fewer people before. Good luck with your decision. Hope to see you on the losers bench soon. -
Lisalisa1212. I am 5 months out and have gone from 268 to 199, so I don't think you are doing too bad. I had a stall that started about a month ago that lasted for three weeks and even now I'm loosing again, but it is really slow. I think the days of loosing 10 pounds per month are over. A lot depends on your starting weight, what did you loose before surgery, your sex, and age. It is hard to compare yourself to others. DrPitt2b you seem to be on much more than a stall. Have you talked to your Dr about the results?

WLS and hypothyroid, PCOS meds
kaitlynm replied to csawesome's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also have hypothyroidism. Funny but 2 months after my surgery I did have to lower my dose from 200 mug to 175mcg. Until I read this I had no idea that they were connected, and I guess my gyn didn't know either. At first when it came back high he wanted me to go off of it completely and then start over with figuring out the dose. After a week I was a real mess. Gained 6 pounds in 4 days, got restless leg syndrome, didn't sleep for 4 nights, and got dehydrated. I'm only now starting to get over the restless leg syndrome and this happened back in early Dec. I just got mine checked again a couple of weeks ago and it was fine on the 175 dose. I had been loosing pretty quickly, but I've been pretty slow loosing the past month. Frustrating since I still have 55 pounds to go. I'm not going to make my 6 month goal by a couple of pounds so I guess I will see what the surgeon says. -
Any Oct 6 Sleevers out there?
kaitlynm replied to MarciaN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm Oct 13th. I'm down 87 in total and 70 since surgery. I found the elusive Onderland yesterday. Weight is coming off so much slower now, and I still have 55 pounds to loose. -
Congratulations. It feels good when we hit certain milestones.

Blue Shield CA and the insurance update
kaitlynm replied to Shanni1269's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BCBS of TX and had my surgery last fall. My Doc's office also told me that I had to do the 6 month diet, but when I called BCBS they told me that they no longer required that. Saved me a lot of time and money to make that call. -
I was missing vegetables in the beginning and my Doc let me have them when I increased my exercise. I had to increase the calories to cover some of those expended. I work out 2 hours almost every day. You may want to ask if you could do something similar.

Ibs c and after surgery results
kaitlynm replied to pascogirl65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the sleeve 5 months ago. Mine went perfectly with no bloating and very little pain whatsoever. I take Amitiza once a day so that I don't have any problems like bloating or constipation. With all WLS constipation is generally a problem just because you are eating so little. Sometimes I have read that with the bypass it can be the opposite but I have no experience with that. With the Amitiza I do perfectly fine. But without it I had the bloating, gas pains, and constipation. -
Getting Insurance to Cover Surgery
kaitlynm replied to Sidney2015's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Generally all insurance covers WLS, it is your employer who decides whether or not to include or exclude WLS. More education needs to be given to employers that they will actually save money in the long run by covering it. You may want to talk to your HR department and push for them to make an exception for you if you can prove they will spend less in the future. -

I have IBS-C. Unfortunately I think mine is worse. I had to go back on a medication that I had been off of for a couple of years. Sorry. -

Final Insurance Approval Timeline
kaitlynm replied to pammieanne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance BCBS took 21 days to get back to me. -
I have the Fitbit charge HR and it is very inaccurate. It gives me readings of 169 when I walk on the treadmill and then readings of 114 when I do my high intensity cardio classes. When I wear my chest strap my HR is much higher in the cardio class, and much lower while walking. I may try the blaze next if it is more accurate.

I really like the chocolate ones. I just got strawberry and coconut last week and they are pretty good. The caramel is my least favorite because it is too sweet. -
You know you lost weight when

I'm going to have to get a new Fitbit soon because I'm on the last hole of the large strap. Small here I come. -

Congratulations!! My scale was still stuck at 200.5 this morning. It will happen soon, but I'm not a patient waiter. -
My feet have shrunk about a half size and are more narrow. I had to get all new flip flops because my old ones were flying off my feet when I walked a couple of weeks ago.
