I think my band has got to go.....

Hi there byebyebandinva- I just had by band removed as well! I had it out on April 30. I am so thankful this thing is out of me. If you read my earlier post I have had terrible problems very similar to yours, not nearly as long as you, but I certainly understand where you are coming from. The worst part for me right now is the left shoulder pain from gas. My recovery is 100 times better than it was when the band went in. I truly think it has something to do with my surgeon though, I feel that the facility I went through to get the band only cares about one thing, getting your money. I found a different doctor to remove it and am so thankful he agreed to remove it for me. Well I hope everything goes well with your recovery and you are feeling better soon!

I think my band has got to go.....

Hi there. I just wanted to share my story since I will also be losing my band here shortly. I was banded 12-28-08. I have had NOTHING but problems since. My recovery was horrible, I had terrible pain, much worse than what everyone else seems to have. I thought fine, maybe I am just a wimp. I finally start feeling somewhat "normal" about 3 weeks later. I still have what I am told is post surgery swelling and can hardly eat anything but soup and runny mashed potatoes without vomiting. I am told this is normal and so I continue on... I keep going at this phase and when I call the dr office they say this is normal, but lets wait on a fill. So finally I go in to see the doctor even though I am not wanting a fill, and they finally start listening to me. They then decide this may not be normal and send me for a GI series ( Barium Swallow on the tilt table, etc ). This is inconclusive in the doctors opinion so they send me to a GI dr for an Endoscopy ( who incidentally has gone through two bands himself, had similar problems to me and then converted to r-n-y). So he finds in the endoscopy that I have scar tissue that has built up (not a normal amount, an excessive amount) and tells me that my band needs to come out. I see the surgeon today, and he still doesnt think anything is really wrong, but he will go ahead and remove because its what I want. I just dont get it, how can doctors be like this?! It is so frustrating!:huh2:

UHC Requirements - What do you think??

UHC is tricky. It def. depends on your employer and what they have chosen to include in their plan. I have coverage on two UHC plans and only one has morbid obesity coverage. So def. call and ask if your plan has the coverage available.

    Roberta's surgery - Dec 28th

No, It just get a really bad pain and it feels like (and sometimes does) its going to come back up. Its getting a little better. I was able to eat some vegetable soup today and eat some of the vegetables that were soft and mushy. But even that after just about half of it gave me that horrible feeling.

    Roberta's surgery - Dec 28th

Hi there! I was also banded on Dec 28th! It has been much more difficult than I thought it would be. I guess I just wanted to believe it was easy. Are you having trouble eating (well if thats what you want to call swallowing liquids)?? I can hardly eat anything at all. I am pretty much stuck on slim fast and tomato soup. I hope its going better for you : )

    Is this normal??

Hi there everyone! I was banded on Dec 28th and I am just wondering if I am at a "normal" stage. I had a lot of pain after surgery, much more than I was expecting. Last Friday (2 weeks out) was the first time I felt somewhat normal. Earlier last week I had some severe pain at the top of my stomach for which the nurse pract. told me to take liquid ibuprofen as she thought it was swelling. Well still to this day I can hardly eat anything at all (and my band was not filled at all as of yet) and I can only eat pretty much liquidy things without getting severe pain. Even mashed potatoes with minimal lumps hurts sometimes, and scrambled eggs hurt too. I have found I can eat cheerios in milk as long as i chew up the cheerios really well. I just feel like this isnt normal two weeks out especially since my band is completely open. I just dont want to live on Slim Fast forever, I could have done that on my own. Please Help!!!

    Is this normal??

Yeah I was only allowed to have the ibuprofen for 3 days, this was per the nurse pract. at Weight Loss Surgical Center where I had the surgery. After your surgery, you never see the surgeon again there. You only deal with the N.P.'s I just hear other people say they are able to eat chicken and stuff and dont feel any restriciton and it makes me worried. I guess everyone is different.
