    Did anybody notice...

I did notice that reaction as well. But that is a huge accomplishment for him to lose 200 lbs with out medical assistance. So Dr. Probaly didn't mean much by it but was probaly more shocked that he did it on his own. I kind of had the same reaction when I found out he had lost that much in year by himself.

"My Diet is Better than Your Diet" -- random rambling...

Oprah purchased 10% of weight watchers stock not the entire company. She doubled her millions she invested that day. Great business decision. So naturally she would become the new voice for them. Financially they all win! But I am not mad at her for trying different options. We all have and wls is not suitable for everyone. You have to do what works for you!

    Insurance coverage

Oh wow. I had no idea surgery is that expensive. Military is covering mine 100% even psych eval etc. So gosh this makes me appreciate them even more now.
  4. Yes since my family and I have had many surgeries and hospitalizations via civilians and mtf's we have had good and bad experiences at both. Just have to do your homework and research no matter what doctor, program and facility you choose. All drs. Have to do their first surgery and build to become experienced. Even experienced drs. Make mistakes as well. So just make sure that you choose a surgeon that you feel comfortable with and if it doesn't feel right then keep looking until you do!
  5. I am in tricare south (humana military). I have my seminar scheduled for 12th of Jan. For me my PCM referred me. BMI 35 and 1 co-morbidity. I was approved with no problem. I was also told sleeve isn't covered through tricare. However, Our hospital on base does the sleeve and the hospital is covering cost and doesn't go through tricare at all. General surgeon called and scheduled seminar. I stopped in and spoke with nutritionist and she explained that process in more depth. All is required is 2 support groups (1 can be attended pre-op) which is what I did. 1 psych eval. She gave me number for that and said I can have that done prior to seminar as well. Did that last week. When I called and scheduled appt. She submitted to Tricare for approval that day and they covered it 100% next day. I meet with nutritionist same day as seminar. Then labs will need to be done again and meet with surgeon. Thats it. She said since seminar is Jan. then procedure will be Feb or March since December patients are being scheduled for Jan. No out of pocket expense and no tricare authorization. They said once general surgeon office called I was automatically approved! My PCM did not think I would get approved because I'm low BMI for their standards but I got a call few days later. I also spoke with people in support group (pre-op and post-op patients) they all verified that is the process. No 6 mth pre-op diet. Just the liquid diet right before surgery to shrink liver!
  6. Mine was very easy. I met with psychiatrist first. Just conversation about expectations, stress at home, support system. Then I took 370 questionnaire on computer. Very random and he said its same generic test used by military etc. 1st question was do I like mechanic magazines? But it was easy and actually hilarious overall. But don't stress it you, you will do fine!

    Hysterectomy AFTER Sleeve

Sorry I am no help since I had a radical hysterectomy a few yrs ago. Age 31 and havent had sleeve done yet. But I would think depending on what procedure they do will determine how painful it will be. I had a zipper cut incision but they went in through same incision from 3 prior surgeries. But I'm thinking sleeve will be a piece of cake compared to that. But I had other complications from surgery so abdomen pain was the least of my worries. But sooo glad I had it done! I was put on birth control to control hormones since my body automatically went into menopause. But once I started those, my hormones leveled out a lot and I had no problem with energy. However, I did gain weight and it went straight to my abdomen and that was never the case before. Thats why I am getting wls. But you should be fine and I wouldn't worry about pain too much if I were you!
