  1. I looked in the threads to see if I could find anything, and nothing. I am just past 6 months post op and I am not sure what is going on. The last time I was losing steadily and consistently was a month ago, just about. Two lbs per week seemed very good to me, then I hit onderland and something happened: my weight has been fluctuating up, but not down. I gained 4 lbs from one day to the next; I was floored, especially because I haven't changed my calorie intake, or started anything anything I should not, so I blamed it on Water weight, which is fine. I have not lost consistently in a month. Now, I am about 4 lbs "behind" of where I should be at. I have started exercising and that is not helping. Anyone else experience something similar at 6 months? Before anyone asks, no, I am not eating more or added any foods that I am not supposed to eat; Protein is ~80 grams per day, or more. I am on light exercise because I just started (~30 min on treadmill and some weight training). My fear is the same as others, that I will be stuck and won't lose anymore weight; it is discouraging. My NUT said I was on the right track with calories and all. Discouraging and frustrating at best
  2. @@Dub I am a member of a gym through school, so I am covered in that area. I have been doing 10, 5 set reps on an arm machine (I cannot remember which one) to work on arms and chest. I want to add more machines, so I thank you for your advise
  3. I do track all my macros on a daily basis. I do understand stalls, but I will not embrace them without doing anything about it; I am not complacent, I make things happen, and while I would patiently wait for it to be over doesn't mean I won't do anything about it. @@Dub Do you have any suggestions on how to start using this Iron? I mean, a circuit of what exercises/machines to use? I am new at weight lifting but I am very interested and on my intern salary I cannot afford a personal trainer! Ha ha...... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. On the other hand, the scale did move 2 pounds since yesterday, so that gives me some encouragement to continue what I am doing
  4. @@MojoCAMI You are hilarious! Good job in the bedroom! LOL. and on buying cheaper undies! Definitely, a guide will be most helpful for us. We do need a guide on what and when to expect it. Best of luck on your journey.
  5. @@♥dreamable Thanks for sharing your experience, and I couldn't agree more, it is so frustrating. I will just have to wait. I just cannot accept I went through all this pain and crazy roller coasters to stay where I am at now. I believe that.
  6. @@Sandra86says I know we all get a psych eval before surgery; have you considered continuing seeing a therapist? I am saying this because I can see @@VSGAnn2014's point, but I also believe you need to enjoy the events leading up to your wedding. If stress or emotional eating was a problem for you pre-op, you definitely want to get that in check for the challenges that come later in life overall. We are all here because of bad choices during pre-op life, but the point of this life changing surgery is to regain control and learn/re-learn healthy habits; we had gastric sleeve surgery, not brain surgery to rid of our bad habits, so my recommendation would be, besides taking to surgeon and NUT, to seek help in the form of therapist or psychologist to gauge where you are now and where your thinking is at. Enjoy your wedding preparations!
  7. Could you be more specific? Are you pre or post op?

    Alcohol

I was told no alcohol for a year, and I am assuming that is because I am not supposed to have any drinks with my meals for a year; alcohol on an empty stomach may go to your head fast! .As others have mentioned, follow your surgeon and NUT's instructions. We chose to have this life changing surgery for a reason, no need to screw it up now.

@@mistyvsgsurvivor My nurse said 6 weeks post-op, but if you can walk daily, even 15 minutes, do that. It will help you get going, and as you lose, it will be so much nicer to walk! Good luck!
  10. Anybody else out there finding themselves real, I mean real hungry, very soon after eating? I will be 3 months out on 2/23, and for the past few weeks I find that I am starving, an hour or so after eating. I know most days my Breakfast is yogurt so it's expected, but today I ate scrambled egg for breakfast with tomatoes and Protein, and right now, I feel like I haven't ate all day! I wonder, and hope, it is my metabolism moving faster, but it is scary to think I can fit more food into my little stomach. Anyone else having the same "problem"? Thanks!

    supervised diet

I also had 6 months supervised weight loss. My doctor's office wanted me to use myfitness pal, but it had nothing to do with my insurance. It was mainly so that I was honest with myself on what I was eating, and so they could monitor what I was eating and help me make adjustments as I went. Most insurances, at least mine which is UHC, just want to see some type of weight loss; even a pound per month is good, of course more is better, but insurance wants to see a loss, never a gain. What will be enough for insurance coverage includes that you lose some amount of weight, that your bariatric office deems weight loss surgery necessary, also to have your primary indicate so on a letter. The process sounds intimidating and long, but it goes by quick. I am just over 3 months and can't believe my surgery already happened! The weight loss will be documented by your team on each visit. Hope that somewhat answered your question. In my case the app was mainly for my own personal tracking, and for them to monitor. You already started the process, don't quit no matter how hard it may seem! Best of luck!
  12. I want to go back to zumba, and I want to love exercise! Good for you!

    I want pureed food!

I am sure others will tell you, it is only because your new stomach needs to heal. I was only on liquid diet for 2 weeks post-op and it felt forever! Give it time, I tried eating a teeny tiny pretzel bite not even a week after my surgery; needless to say I regretted that immediately because my stomach rejected it. It wasn't pleasant. It will all come with time, this is a difficult decision and you are that much stronger for having made it; stick to it. I was barely cleared to eat salads, and boy have I been missing raw cauliflower! It is all for your healing process. Hang in there. I will all be worth it when you start seeing results. Best wishes.
  14. I am having my three month post-op on Wednesday, and matter of fact I just hung up with the automated reminder for such appointment! And I am scared. I know we are all different, I know I should not compare, I know that some weight loss is better than none, but I feel I am not doing what I am supposed to. First off, I cannot get all the Protein in every day, I am barely getting all my Water in! Second, I have been eating chips (not the whole bag) and snickers! I am not a chocolate person, but recently I am craving them little things like crazy (and I was told I wasn't supposed to have cravings after surgery). Third, I have not been able to keep on going to the gym as I was suggested by the doctor (this was a problem before of why I couldn't lose a lot of weight on my own). I am not feeling the hunger I was feeling a couple weeks back, which is great, but I found myself eating right/not eating right. I don't graze or stuff my face, I just feel I am failing. Guess I am having one of those days. Since surgery, I believe I have lost 39 lbs which is great, but we always want more. I will try and return to the gym this week. Seems like I have been losing about 2 lbs per week on average (if I am not in a stall). I need to stop reading and comparing myself to other's success stories and just be happy for them! Guess I just wanted to complain today! LOL. Have a great day everyone!

@@2goldengirl At my personal support group we talked about leaks and someone there had one past 3 months; it does occur mainly because the healing process is different for each person. I do not believe is a leak because I would have a fever and other symptoms that go with a leak. I am waiting until Wednesday because the pain has continued with every bite of everything other than yogurt, and at this stage, eating just yogurt is not appealing! LOL.

@@songsmith My Dr. said that I may be eating too fast, so he suggested slowing down. He did say that if the pain continues for a week, to give them a call. My main concern now is staple line leakage because I am also experiencing nausea; we will see

@@songsmith I don't think it hurts because I am full. At first I did hurt myself from overating because I was gauging it all. Now I eat 3 to 4 oz of Protein and 1 to 2 oz of a side dish and I can feel the difference between the pain I am describing and pain fro being full. Different pains. So I am waiting to see if it goes away. Example, right now it is 9:35, I have eaten nothing and I have that pain.

@@CowgirlJane Thanks for your words, and I am not off track after all! I have lost about 39% of my excess weight as of today. My surgeon said they like to see 50 to 75% weight off by one year, and so I plan to keep going. I never craved chocolate before, I had no trigger foods, only than maybe chips. I just had a very sedentary life and eating too much of the not so good stuff. I think this is just a phase that will go away soon. I am finding that things need to be re-adjusted as we go, but I will keep doing my best. Congratulations on four years out. It takes a lot of courage for anyone that wants to lose weight to do it; however they achieve it.

@@JamieLogical I will definitely ask. I have noticed for the past 2 weeks to eat everything it hurts. My stomach feels heavy and I have pain sometimes well after the half hour, and i definitely feel real full that I don't even want to drink my Water. I have no problem sticking to the diet and love meat, shrimp, chicken and all that, but lately no matter what I eat, it hurts. I will ask the doc about the Protein goals too. I really try everyday. For the past week it has been better, but not where I want it.

I found that eating meat (or anything else for that matter), no matter what kind hurts my sleeve, it feels heavy. Recently, scrambled eggs feel heavy, so I will be taking to my doctor, but eating chips does has never hurt! I did not know there were chips with Protein in them. Thanks for letting me know, I will look them up!

    Hunger!

I think it's just the food passing real fast through the pouch. I will ask my doc on 2/24 and see what he says; I do understand, for some of us is not "head hunger" I can differentiate between the two. Oh well. I think we are all here for a reason, and should not criticize one another. After all, we are all on the same boat
