  4. Hi All, Got my second fill finally. The first one didn't do much. I still could eat too much. But I went in for my second fill and they only gave me .5 cc in a 11 cc band. Does that sound right? It didn't do much and I asked the nurse giving it to me if that was enough. She said yes. My husband thinks I should call the the doctor and ask them about it. He keeps saying that he drools more in his sleep than what she put in my band. :notagree :omg: Any input will be appreciated.

What do you do if you slime or get stuck?

Thanks all for the great info. I don't think i'm going to slime just yet. I've got one of those bottomless pit bands (you know the 11cc'er)and I don't feel any restriction yet. But who knows, from what I've read on this board the band can be a pretty fickle thing.
  6. Hi Everyone, A little advice please. I'm still on liquids after my first fill so I have yet to experience a slime storm, or get stuck. If I do what can I do to help ease the problem? I just want to be prepared. I mean do you drink water? Move around? Twirl a live chicken over your head? Any thing you can prepare me for will be really appreciated.
  7. Hello Everyone! Just got my first fill today. 4.2 cc's for a 11 cc band. It was a breeze. They used no numbing solution or anything. I felt nothing. The only time I felt a little soreness was from standing up with the needle still in me to fill the band. A paper cut would of been much worse. I was on the flouroscope machine table and it automatically hoists you up from lying down to standing. Don't be afraid of your first fill. I'm one of the biggest needle chickens there is and it was fine. Horray! I beat the big fill fright beast! He was a big beastie indeed!!!!!

    Mushies Today

I was scared to eat mushies when I first started them. But the urge to have something solid in my mouth overcame the fear. The first things I ate were whipped mashed potatoes and cottage cheese. As I ate I noticed a pressure in my chest and realized that my stomach was telling me that I was full. I went a little overboard but the most that I got was a little achey. If you take it easy, listen to what your body is telling you. And believe me it will give you a warning, You should be just fine. Next week I'm going to be starting solid foods and that frightens me a little, but I know if I eat just a little at a time I will adjust to it. You will be fine. All of us experience alittle fear now and then.

    Problem with bread?

Thanks all, The one thing I have really learned on this great site is that everyone is so different on what causes PB's. I guess I will have to find out what is ok with my band.

What Foods Have Caused You to PB?

How long does it take for you to realize that your band doesn't like a certain food and that you are going to PB? After the first bite? Or does it take a few bites? Janet

    Problem with bread?

Hi, I noticed that a lot of people have problem with bread. Obviously it's mushie and sticky so i can understand a problem, but what about a sandwich wrap. Has anyone had a problem with a wrap? Just curious, just started my mushies phase but daydreaming about regular food:) Janet

    Liquids to mushies!

Hi all I was banded on Oct. 24 and am on the liquid diet for 3 weeks then mushies for 3. I have a couple of questions for all you fellow bandsters out there. 1) Is soup concidered a liquid? I have green pea soup with a little extra water in it. It can fit through a straw so is this considered a part of the liquid diet? I got so sick of chicken and beef broth after 1 1/2 weeks so I tried split pea and green pea extra watery and smushed. It was great but is it ok? 2) any suggestions for mushies? I know that cottage cheese, refried beans, oatmeal, cream of wheat and scrambled eggs but is there any other suggestions for this? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Janet

    I'm Back!!!!!!

Hello All! Thank you so much for all the encouraging words. I had my Surgery on Oct 25th and I think I'm doing pretty good. The advice for the gasX and heating pad was right on the mark. I don't think I would of survived without them. I'm up and around. The soreness is almost gone except for the port incision of course. I lived the first four days on my recliner, finally made it to my bed so things are alot nicer. The only real thing that is driving me crazy is the gas. Burp Burp Burp Burp that is all I do. Plus that great air bubble that forms in the middle of my chest. Does this go away completely or am I destined to be a gassy the rest of my life. Hope not. My doctor has me on three weeks of liquids then three weeks of mushies. My husbands leg is beginning to look real good to me. I mean REAL good. I think I'm making him a little nervous LOL. Hope all others who had the surgery at about the time of mine are doing well. Thanks to all and excuse the quick babble of this. Janet.:Bunny
  14. Hi All, Tomorrow moring at 6 am I will be introduced to my new buddy and tool, the Lapband. I am both terrified and excited. We are going to stay nearby in our motorhome (the hospital is a bit far away) so getting to the hospital won't be a huge hassle. I will update everyone after I get back. Was everyone as scared as I feel? Part of me wants this so bad and the other wants to run screaming the other way. :cry I hope all goes well so everyone cross a body part for me. Fingers, legs, arms, eyes. Hey if you got two of them, cross them for me. :cross-eye Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Janet:D
  15. I just read an article on www.ingentaconnect.com (an austrailian med article website) It said that a study they did on 118 patients showed that the gastric band is semipermeable and that they found a small reduction of saline solution in the band ring over time. The said that is why sometimes people have a problem with finding the right fill or retaining it. They recommend that you get your fill checked every 6 months. Just a little piece of info that I found informative.
