I have a date of 1/5/16. Like many others, I'm wondering if anyone else is close to having surgery on this date so we can compare notes and try to help boost our spirits if we're struggling. I'd love to hear from anyone!

SELF PAYERS...please give me your insight

Every surgeon in Tijuana has patients fly into San Diego and provides a shuttle across the border. It's a very standard practice. Correct - this is how they do it for anyone in that general area. -

San Diego airport. Then you go across the border which is just about 15 minutes south. -
So ready to get sleeved!

Message me if you wanted more info on Dr. Ramos Kelly. I'd be glad to email you the initial info packet that his coordinator sent me. I'm 27 so we're probably in similar situations! -

His surgery costs include pre op testing, all of the surgery and clinic associated fees, post op tests and two nights in the hospital. You do pay $109x2 for a night before in a hotel and a second night after your two hospital nights. They also pick you up from the airport and take you back and provide transportation for everything during your time there. You just have to pay your airfare and those two nights in the hotel. Every other thing is covered in the $4600. -

I assumed you were speaking to me. I definitely am going to Mexico and I am thinking I will go to Dr. CARLOS Altamirano. He is very active online and on social media. I have also watched him do a couple sleeves on youtube and his facebook. Or I've also heard great things about Dr. Ramos Kelly. But u can not beat $4500 all inclusive. Shana55 - of course go with whoever you feel best about. I'm paying $4600 for everything but airfare for Dr. Ramos Kelly. You'll find cheaper and you'll find more expensive, but finding who is right for YOU is what matters. -

Yes, I'm using Dr. Ramos Kelly. I found his accreditation, schooling, reviews, and bedside care were exceptional. There are a lot of the coordination services that claim he is affiliated with them but he is not, they just want to associate their name with him. I went directly through his site and his personal coordinator contacted me and within a few days I had Dr. Kelly's cell phone and spent a long time on the phone with him. I also made sure my primary care physician is willing to do post op physicals and all of my blood work. I was able to find a bariatric surgeon in the area that will also do follow up care if I feel it's needed. I've found that most people that have had this surgery needed little post op care aside from their blood work and maybe a NUT or personal trainer. I feel confident that I have found the after care support I need and I'm just watching vlogs all day long so I truly feel like I can know what to expect. My family was concerned there was no counseling pre op. But those that I've talked to haven't really said that counseling was very helpful. So I think knowing the good, the bad, and the ugly before surgery is the best I can do to prepare myself. -
Congrats!!!

I'm going to Mexico in January. Lauras's YouTube was so helpful, as mentioned above! I'm actually going to the same surgeon as her but didn't decide that solely based on Laura's experience. It just was some seriously awesome icing on the cake to have someone that documented so well that I could reference. You definitely have to do your research before going to ANY doctor. Obviously when going to Mexico you'll do a whole other set of research because of the stigmas associated. I found it to be a very safe, affordable option and found that thousands of people do it every year. The good ol US makes it hard to afford much here, let alone when insurance won't even consider covering it. Feel free to message me or comment here if you have specific questions! -
Any one around 26 years old? ?

Hey, I'm 27 and will have surgery on January 5th. I'd love to talk if you'd like! If you're like me, you're hoping for anyone relatively close to your date, weight, age so you can try to compare to some degree. -
PCOS! Suffer no more! Please read

I did laser hair removal probably 7 years ago. I had somewhere around 9 sessions on the same area, under my chin and above my neck. They explained that since my hair was "hormonal" it might not make AS BIG of a difference. It made 0 difference. I have done metformin, spironolactone, birth control, and finally went to an endocrinologist who told me to join weight watchers to lose weight. Yet she admitted its probably 99% harder for me to lose weight than anyone else. I have roughly 10-15 cysts on both ovaries. Yet I had regular periods before I got my IUD. Anyways, I'm blabbering. I just didn't find laser was worth a shit for me. Big waste of a few thousand dollars for me. Honestly, I figure it nothing changes with my facial hair, at least I'll have more confidence with my body. That truly where I'm at right now. -

Ya know the old question, "you're stranded on a deserted island, what 3 items do you take?" My answer has always been - razor, razor, razor. It truly is like the bane of my existence. So embarrassing and so exhausting. I was luckily a very good athlete so I never was really made fun of. But I'll never forget when I was 15 (had been forced to start shaving my under chin area for about a year) and a guy asked me if I could teach him how to shave. Yeah, kill me now. I'm so thankful I have an adoring fiancé that had accepted that my PCOS does things I can't control. But it wasn't until I scheduled this surgery and was having to defend my choices to family that I broke down one night and actually SAID what we both knew I'd been having to do daily for the 3.5 years we've been dating. I think any objections he had then went away. This surgery is just my only hope ... Or at least that's how I feel. Tell me I'm not alone. -
Where are getting or got your surgery

I'm going to Dr Ramos Kelly in Tijuana in January. I'm self pay (obviously) as my insurance won't even consider covering it. I've done hours and hours (and hours?) of research, as well as having spoken with Dr. Kelly for almost 45 minutes. I really have heard and read nothing but great things. I know going to Mexico holds a social stigma, but I truly feel comfortable and reassured about my decision. Please let me know if you want to talk further. I know it's a big decision and we all have to do what we think is best for us. Good luck with whatever you choose!! -

Did you experience a reduction in facial hair?? It's like my BIGGEST hope of this whole surgery. I've been dealing with it since 14 and I'm now 27. Tired of feeling like a prisoner of my own body. Thanks for any advice you're willing to offer. And a huge congrats on your success! -
Whatever you do, take the full time to recover. I did something minor that gave me a stress fracture in my foot. This was a year or so ago and I haven't even had surgery yet, so totally unrelated. Anywho ... I didn't wear my boot long enough and still deal with the pain of it. It's so not worth it in the long run to push it. Hope you get some relief soon!

BeeHealthy2016 - If you're at all interested, a group of us started a closed Facebook group for those having sleeve surgery in January. There's only a handful of us right now, but if you'd like to be added, feel free to send me your email in a message and I can send you an invite. Yay for a date!!!
