I'm about to have sleeve surgery, but my surgeon wants me to have gastric bypass, as he is concerned that my mild reflux will get worse after the sleeve, I am currently taking nexium 20mg. Has anyone faced this problem before. Please advise, as I don't want to the bypass it looks daunting.

Look thats what i wanted to do but i don't like the possible side effect after bypass surgery.

I heard from a friend who had reflux and was taking nexium before she did the sleeve, and she still is taking it ,but its the food you eat that can help with the reflux.

Thanks for that looks like you have the same symptoms, he has offered me a test called a manometry PH TEST that apperantly indicates how severe my reflux is. So time will tell.

Hi I'm about to have a gastric by pass on Feb 19 2016 I excited about the long term weight loss but my family keep telling me why am I doing this as they don't like the risks. Did you find any thing that would have put you of from this surgery.

Hi I'm 56 years old and I have about 35 kg to 40kg to loose well I would hope that I can. I'm new to this forum, I have been told my surgery date will be on the 19/2/2016 I am excited but also scared of post op complications. I do think about how much my health issues will improve. But I'm still a little concerned. I have been reading that the people who are doing the RNY are younger than me so I would like to hear from some people around my age who have done this procedure and are post op. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Is it true you stop craving sweets and fatty foods I'm a little scepticle, but I sure hope its true as I love my sweets.
